I have worked with the CT APA pool league for a while, and then we moved very close to Big Shots. Â I love the place. Â The tables are nice, they have beer and okay food. Â The owners are great people and if I'm correct on who they are, they're there all the time. Â I wound up joining a pool league there just a month ago, but I've been going there for pool events for a while.
Close to every table is a tv to watch sports. Â The waitresses are generally friendly and prompt with the beers. Â What more can you ask for?
I love shooting pool.
My Dad was a muscle-car tuning, Genesee Cream Ale drinking, long haired badass in the 70s. Â While the long hair may have went away as he got older, he still has a penchant for pre-Sharp-Dresssed-Man ZZ Top, billiards and cold beer.
If my Dad owned a billiards hall, it'd be this kind of place.
Big Shots is not the hip-hop blaring, tough-guy pool hall that most CT billiards establishments have become. Â The music is usually at a reasonable volume (and is usually of the "same 50 songs AOR/classic rock" format), there's a great beer selection, decent bar food and immaculately maintained tables. Â It's a 21+ crowd only, people playing like jerks isn't tolerated and the prices are totally reasonable ($6 per person all night).
League/APA nights happen monthly so call ahead or visit their website to make sure you're not going to be out of a table.
