I read the three previous reviews and scratched my head. Â How can they rate the food good to very good and give a 3 star rating? Â We go there often and have never been disappointed. Â Service is always fast and friendly. Â It seems to be a favorite for our Chicago visitors as well as locals. Â Did I mention that the food is outstanding? Â Their only failing is to never have homemade lemon meringue pie.
Review Source:This restaurant has been around forever and is located by Indian Lake. Â I
It has an up north like feel with a weathered wood exterior and somewhat rustic interior. Â It is very much from another era and could use some updating, but has pretty good food. Â
In addition to soup / salad, they have a spinning gourmet table that includes cheese spread, herring, potato salad, bean salad, etc. Â Wine list is basic, but has a few surprises including some Silverado wines. Â
I was last there in May 2011. Â I had the Perch and my dad had the Walleye, which were both delicious. Â Service was a bit slow.
I would definitely go back.
I have heard many good things about Timberline on several occasions, and decided to try it. Â First of all, walking in, we felt extremely uncomfortable, as we were probably the only 30-something couple there. Â The decor was extremely outdated. Â Our server lurked over our table the entire time we were there. Â I wouldn't rush back any time soon. Â The food was good, but the atmosphere, for me, is a big part of the experience in trying somewhere new.
Review Source:Okay, for a fine dining restaurant in the middle of nowhere, Timberline Inn is pretty good. Â Unfortunately, the last time I ate there was about 17 years ago (and I actually worked there for a very, very, very short time washing dishes). Â So, if you are near Indian Lake in Dowagiac, Michigan, and you have a few bucks to blow, it's a pretty decent restaurant.
