Holy cow! The burgers here are HUGE and the fries are copious! I had the bacon cheese sourdough burger and it had two thin patties and was really big. The fries were okay, pretty good.
Don't come here unless you are A) starving or B) sharing a burger. Not much seating. The covered seating in the back is air-less and hot and not particularly clean while the seating in the front is very limited. Some yelpers have said this is the best in SB county. I disagree -- In N Out is still the hands down burger winner though the staff here is nice and as I said before, the portions are HUGE.
Yea I'll give it a four. The food was prepared with care, plenty of pickled peppers to pick from (say that fast four times).
The fries were good and plentiful, alittle to slaty for me, and they have some kind of season all flavoring.
The place itself is small and the backroom is old school and dumpy, but maybe that is the style.
The staff were super friendly and the food was good, and at a fair price.
I will stop again heading to Santa Barbara.
This must be Santa Barbara's best kept secret. Â I wasn't expecting much -- the place was empty when I walked in, and the menu was kind of blah. Â I was sick of burgers, so I got the buffalo chicken sandwich. Â I almost instantly regretted my decision, flashing back to Denny's buffalo chicken sandwich (the only other such sandwich I've had).
But this was nothing like Denny's. Â It was delicious! Â One of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I'm really picky about sandwiches.
The curly Q fries were just okay, though. Â And I got way too many of them, which I guess isn't a bad thing, but it meant either stuffing myself, or wasting them. Â So I ate most of them and threw the rest out.
Not only is their burger about 5% beef, and greasy, but their owner feels the need to leave anti-Obama propaganda on the counter in order to "HELP SAVE AMERICAN!!"
There is a time and place for rallying votes, and a hamburger joint is not the place. Completely unprofessional, and they have lost my business, and any Democrat, or half intelligent person, that reads this.
I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was great! this place has solid food, is reasonably priced and has a great atmosphere. something about the place left me relaxed, perhaps it was the emplyees, perhaps the weather.
Also with their location the outside seating was great I really enjoyed it
So before you say where is Summerland, CA?..... it's j-u-s-t south of Santa Barbara
So my so called friend says: Pancho can we eat something besides Tacos today! /facepalm friends are so overrated!. Â
Yeah the place is small but in such a beautiful town like this and less than a block away you got a beachfront view WHY would you want to sit indoors in some burger joint anyways.
Pretty large menu selection of various types of burgers or shall I say a vast selection of toppings, another nice thing is these burgers are not frozen patties, they are hand formed most to 1/3 pound then tossed on the grill.
Sourdough Bacon Cheeseburger - ($6.50) - http://www.yelp.com/biz_…
1/3 pound beef patty topped with two thick strips of bacon, swiss and american cheese on sourdough bread ((wasn't my burger)) http://www.yelp.com/biz_… though I was told two thumbs up and 4-Stars

1/3 pound burger with two thick strips of bacon, blue cheese, onions, lettuce, mayo blah, blah, blah... ONE MAJOR problem with this burger!.... "The Bun" with all the wetness of the mayo, blue cheese and what ever else that made the burger's bun fall apart after just one bite!. Taste was GREAT but they need to use a different bun like maybe a brioche bun or something with some body http://www.yelp.com/biz_… 3-Stars for the exploding bun.

BEST BURGER EVER!!!!
I fully enjoyed my burger experience here, I want to eat here everyday. I have lived in Santa Barbara for years and years and never have I stopped here. First off, it is right next to the ocean so bonus! Grab your food to go and go eat it while relaxing on the gorgeous beaches. Their menu, which is displayed only, also includes a myriad of specials. Bummer is that the burgers are sans fries and a drink so for my boyfriend and I to have two burgers, share fries and a drink it was 25$. Still amazing! I ordered the garlic burger and boy did it not disappoint.
The burger:
patty- garlicy deliciousness. Yep that is right, I made up descriptive words because it was heavenly!
bread: garlic spread adorned this delicious bread, making it literally melt in your mouth
delicious beach burger! I WILL be back!
Open 11am -9 p.m.
Every hike deserves a reward. In this case, the hike up to Inspiration Point called for a yummy burger and fries.
Tinker's was chosen for a couple reasons: good reviews and the close proximity to the beautiful Lookout Park. They delivered on both!
It's a small place that has a certain charm to it. Their burger patties looked to be on the small side so I ordered a double patty/double cheese. The curly fries called my name so we got a side order.
In no time we were headed just down around the corner to enjoy the tasty treat at Lookout Park. Seriously, this is a wonderful spot! The burger was good, well constructed and solid on all fronts. It wasn't crazy with a kajillion toppings, but a classic burger. And the yummy curly fries complimented it nicely.
If I were a local, I'd make the "Inspiration Point hike/Tinker's treat" a bi-monthly ritual. You can't go wrong.
Hands down the best burger in the area. Â Not as "fresh" as In N Out, nor as fancy as the Habit, but the bottom line is that they grill up a tasty, easy patty with a crispy side of crunchy fries (regular or sweet potato). Â Shakes are hand scooped, and the staff is always welcoming and happy to accommodate requests. Â Sure, sometimes the grill operator is too busy flirting with the surfer girls to remember that you asked for grilled onions (not raw), but they will always fix it with a smile. Â Local vibe mentioned by other here is spot on. Â The best part? Â They do parties with a mobile burger truck! Â I've been to super ritzy galas with top catering on the local social scene, and the biggest line in the place will be for Tinkers... Â The owner can also do upscale catering (try tip, chicken, prime rib, etc) that is off the charts in terms of quality, and extremely reasonable on price. Â A true Summerland gem.
Review Source:Summerland's businesses have personality. More so because it's such a small town, grown from the days of witch covens. Â They've got great beaches (good spot to fish for corbina at low tide, too), and several options for burgers. Tinkers is just one of a handful and sometimes it's hard to choose which to partake of.
Its look is deceiving. What appears to be a teensy little hole-in-the-wall burger shop holds of cornucopia of greasy food delights.
There are few things I miss about the 90s, but one of them was seasoned curly fries. Where did they come from, why have they disappeared from the common menu? There isn't a need to fret over these questions because Tinkers has them! A big ol' basket for about $4.
AND...sweet potato fries. And the guy behind the counter will straight up ask if you want some ranch dressing. No begging inquisitively. Thanks for being proactive, guys!
The burgers can be simple and solid, or more like patty melts, with bacon, grilled onions, pretty much whatever you want.
Hot dogs, too! And proper milkshakes.
They have nothing to hide. The front of the shop is the kitchen, with a couple soda fountain bar seats to perch on and watch your food being prepared. It's been a hangout for Summerland and Carp kids, so maybe those seats are for them, while they chatter with their friends working behind the counter.
Those that want table seating, there's ample space in the back, and it appears to literally be a shack with simple plastic tables and chairs. No frills.
Oh man, Tinkers, my childhood burger place. Â Well my burger place now too. Â I remember my grandma taking me here for a burger, and actually she still takes me haha, since it's down her street. Â This place is awesome. Â It's a small hole in the wall off the 101, and it's just great.
Their menu is pretty simple, from shakes, curly fries, turkey burgers and more. Â Seating can be a problem since it is real small, but whatever, just walk down the street and eat it on the beach. Â From what I remember, they might only take cash. Â It is locally owned and the people are nice, runned probably by local high school kids. Â
Whenever I am in town, I always find myself coming to his place for lunch.
