On the weekends this place is packed! Â So packed that parking is an issue. Â Even the empty lot next door fills up with cars. Â I guess this is because Tj Mulligans is the only game around for miles. Â It's a very poplar hangout for folks living in the far burbs. Â The patio is decent, the music is usually decent... the food however, sucks as does the service! Â Its not uncommon to find one staff member behind the bar struggling to keep up and one staff member trying to cover the entire patio. Â This is ridiculous! Â It takes way too long to get a drink. Â As for the food... I ordered hot wings recently (of course) and I couldn't believe how sad they were. Â Hardly any wing sauce at all. Â When I asked my server for more wing sauce she informed me that I would be charged extra. Â How nice to be charged extra for sauce that you were shorted in the first place. Â When the bill came that night we discovered that we were also charged for an extra beer and two appetizers! Â It took our server three attempts to get the the bill straightened out.
Review Source:Set your expectations before you go. Â Here is what you need to know:
1.  Mulligan's is one of the handful of places around town that still allow smoking.  TN law states that you can let your patrons smoke if your restrict your clientele to  21 or older.  So know that your kiddies aren't allowed and that you'll come home smelling like a black lung.
2. Â They have live bands on most weekend nights. Â The place is not designed to accommodate live music. Â It's small. Â So, natch it's going to be loud. Â You want a place where you can whisper sweet somethings in Juliet's ear...drive on by, Romeo.
3. Â If you're hungry you'll be noshing on bar food. Â It's gonna be fried, prepared by some guy that was hired that day, and it's name will likely end in the word "burger". Â You know the food. Â The kind that perfectly compliments a glass of cold beer.
Now that your expectations have been properly set you can go and have as good a time as your neuroses will allow.
A recent visit (shout out to another Yelper that was there. Â Hey!) found me ordering heavily from the bar area, to the pool/darts area and finally to the patio (mild weather made it a great night to be outside). Â The beer was cold, the food was bland and I had a designated driver. Â The perfect storm. Â My only - and I do mean only - concern was the likelihood that my tab was going to be whacked beyond all recognition as I was there for a long time and ordered from a variety of servers. Â Guess what? Â Best as I can tell...it was absolutely correct. Â They may have missed a beer but I definitely wasn't charged for something I didn't order. Â LOVE IT.
Had a great, great time. Â Good friends, lots of beer, crappy music, bland food and was served by a number of friendly and professional professionals. Â Everything I expected.
Yeah, thanks to second hand smoke, my lungs were a little worse for wear and my clothes had to be burned when I got home, but who cared? Â I didn't.
The usual bar atmosphere and with pool tables and live bands on the weekends. The crowd can be a little "rough around the edges", so not exactly the kind of place I frequent. But it's fun to go with friends on occasion when my friends bug me into it.
The atmosphere is usually pretty lively and they do a good job of booking decent bands. And the food is actually not bad at all, although they don't have a large menu. I like the quesadillas.
This is a great local bar/restaurant. The food goes beyond your typical pub grub and you can find some great menu items. My favorite appetizers are the fried pickle chips and the boom boom chicken (spicy and fried, what more can you ask for!) The Reuben is the best in town, you can get it with corned beef or smoked turkey. It's also a great place for a plate lunch. I usually get the veggie plate or the turkey and dressing. Each day has different specials. The only drawback for me is that it is a smoking restaurant/bar. If I am going here for a meal I usually sit outside to avoid the smoke or I get it to go.
It's a fun place for live music, watching a game and for their other various weekly events, like Cornhole Thursday. The outdoor patio is nice when the weather cooperates and this is the place to be on St. Patrick's Day!
