I'm not sure how this place is during the afternoon or weekdays but lord was this place awful Saturday night. It seemed like a suped-up version of a typical college bar - loud pop music, packed with underage students drinking light beer, biddies wearing their ridiculous outfits, bros being bros. It was so packed I could hardly breathe. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon
Review Source:I went to grad school in Bing and I don't think I ever went to Tom & Marty's. On a recent trip back to visit, I stopped in. It was a Friday or Saturday night. To be sure, it was packed as expected. I was happy to see PBR tallboys and all of the hot undergrads. It was amusing to watch them all trying so hard.
Review Source:Mike and Larry really know how to entertain...What a great idea of having trivia night on wednesdays.. Great beer specials all the time.. Your a fool not to order the wings as well. Fun for all types and the food is good enough that you don't need to go across the street to Pasquale's/Rocky's late night.
Review Source:I don't drink, so this review is probably pointless.
Music when I went sounded like any random college student's iPod on shuffle. It's really crowded, hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable. You can't move. It kind of felt and smelled like Warped Tour.
Looking to dance? This isn't a place to dance, just a place to drunk sway and enjoy some drinks with your friends (if being held together with all of them in a straitjacket is enjoyable to you).
No thanks.
PROS: No cover
Even though my twin sister and my other half moved upstate to live in her swanky new suite for college we wouldn't let that get in the way of the fact that THESE twins never spent a birthday apart.
That said I tore myself away from NYC and all its nightlife opportunities for a 5hr bus ride, and townies.
Even though I've technically been in college for almost three years now, I've never partied "college style."
We started off with pre-gaming, I chose whiskey as my launching pad. And before I knew what was going on I was tossed into a whirl wind of cab rides, stumbling in and out of strange houses, and finally making it to the bar Tom & Marty's.
It was pretty loud and stuffed, but it is a college town on a thursday night so I shouldered my way through the crowds and proceeded to order whiskey sours and beers*

Fast forward to waking up on the couch in my sister's suite and feeling like there was a woodpecker trapped in my skull.
Did I have a good time? Well with my swiss cheese memory and a hangover more fierce than Siegfried and Roy's white tiger, I think I'm going to say:
"Yes"
So thank you Binghamton townies for taking care of this city slicker and giving me a very (un)forgettable birthday!

*My online banking tells me I only spent $8 on two whiskey sours and a Blue Moon that was on tap. That's pretty F-N cheap, almost worth spending $70 on the bus tickets!
really a good time on weeknights. becomes a bit overbearing on weekends, esp when school is in session. the music is very typical of any bar in the area, you will without a doubt hear "jack and diane" and "dont stop believing" at least once. the prices are VERY reasonable, and if you tip frequently enough and NOT quarters then your drinks will get exponentially stronger or you'll receive a token for a free drink. the bathrooms are tiny and not the picture of cleanliness but it'll do... really wish there was more than one stall though. they have some board games, towers of beer for your inner bro-ski and specials every weeknight on some random colored concoction served in jars. the food is typical of any bar, and if you're getting the fried veggies or mozzarella sticks or anything of that sort expect A LOT of grease. the crowd varies but i've never had a problem, the bartenders also range from apathetic to great service with a smile. so, in conclusion, it's def one of the better places on state st.
ps. LARRY ROCKS!
Tom & Marty's felt like home the first time I visited after moving to the area. A little grungy in places (the bathrooms especially) but that's never bothered me.
It's small, intimate, and welcoming. The bartenders are right on (quick, and they'll remember a face) and it's one of those places where I could stay all night. Small selection of beers on tap, but a good one.
I think I might have to go this weekend now. Thanks, yelp.
I love Tom and Martys and Tonys next door. Â
I now live in S FL in a town where most of the business owners do not try hard to keep business and few are friendly, the majority are snobs. Â I came to Bingo after being gone for awhile and the owner re-opened the kitchen for me b/c I said I missed GOOD WINGS and we had homemade blue cheese, unheard of anywhere else except Bingo. Â
I do not miss the brown snow!
I love you. I love you. I love you. I love...you!
Tom and Marty's is the the best. Fun music (it never changes, which most people don't like, but I like it because now I know all the lyrics!), board games galore, and pitchers with a spout (does that make sense? You need to see it to believe it).
T & M's really is a comfortable place, kind of like home. You cozy up in a booth with friends and settle in for a long winter's nap filled with SoCo & lime shots, Red Stripe, and a Corona here and there.
Bouncers are lame and will ID you even after you've been in and out 10 times in the same night. Whatevs. Bathrooms are microscopic and become a mess quickly. Girls, it's okay to go in the guys bathroom. They might get pissed and curse at you but who cares?
Your basic kind of a bar. Â It's a pretty decent starter bar or a place to go with friends to grab a beer (or a pitcher) and a burger. Â It's a good place to go before or after hockey and baseball games.
GOOD: Â Good burgers, cold beer, import beer variety for the size of the place. Â No cover charge.
SO SO: Fries
BAD: Bathrooms, limited seating
FUN: Board games
