Newly opened in McAllen. Nice and enjoyable atmosphere. Extensive menu of common foods prepared in uncommon ways. Also several menu items that are less well known in the valley. All served with a gorgeous presentation. The chef does "food art" on the plate. The hummus was tasty and served with a savory flatbread that made it essentially impossible for me to stop eating it. Â Chicken tortilla soup had a flavor we struggled to put our finger on. Chipotle maybe. But I think there was more to it than that. Â The perfectly poached egg on the sirloin steak was a stroke of genius. And the pineapple vinaigrette gave a surprising balance to the roasted beet salad. Â
Service was very good. Food was a feast for the eyes as well as the tongue. Atmosphere was relaxing and pleasant.
Set up to give the feel of a dining car on a train, this place has a unique feel and look. The large booths are great for spending time at night with friends sharing drinks, memories and good times. The tables are better suited for dining.
The raised stage is good for entertainment. And they promised to have it regularly. Â They said the next will be a jazz band.
I hope that they keep their focus and this place takes off. Â The concept is unique in the valley. Â It has definite promise.
