I went to Trenton Social last night to attend an open mic. Since I was there anyway, I figured that I might do a few minutes of stand-up, even though everyone else performing was a musician. I was planning on doing a set about the tedium of commuting, but as the night grew longer and I continued to be reminded of much I hate Trenton, I decided that I would just go up onstage and talk smack about the capital of New Jersey for however long time and the patience of the host would permit. Turns out, it was only about five minutes max.

I started off by commenting on the historical significance of Trenton, and how George Washington crossed the Delaware River on the night of Christmas with his ragtag army to slaughter the Hessian forces sleeping peacefully in their quarters, probably after a night of religious observance and celebration. Heroic? Or cowardly? I suggested cowardly. Everything kind of just went downhill from there.

While I was on the mic, I even made reference to the review that I'm writing now. I said I would give this place either three or four stars. Now, apparently the owner was standing there listening to me the entire time. I think that was his opportunity to secure a four or even five-star review from me; he could have offered me a free drink, an appetizer, a discount, etc. But no. When will business owners learn to bribe me? I am a pretty righteous person, but come on -- it's like they're not even putting any effort in to corrupt me.

Anyway, I like this place. It's much better than most of the rest of Trenton.

This is a great place in Trenton.  Meaning that it is has kind of hipster vibe, lounge like.  In another city it would be very busy, it has all the right pieces, but its in Trenton.
The sushi was fantastic, as good as anywhere.
The burgers were pretty good.  The fries leave a lot to be desired, kind of out of place with the other food.
The drinks were surprisingly good, although there is no wine list and you are left to the waitress verbally conveying a wine list, with plenty of errors in it. Its right there on the box, how hard is it to write it down or memorize it?
Music was good, live guitar, singing.

All this being said, I would definitely come back, it is what it is and if your expectations are inline with what it is, you will enjoy it.  Hopefully it get polished up as time goes on, it could easily go the wrong way.

Needed a place to eat - close to the arena where I was going to a concert.  I am born and raised in the City of Trenton but it "ain't" what it used to be and it is hard to find a place in the city where you can feel safe anymore.  Trenton Social was suggested to me and I and a few friends walked to it from the arena parking lot.  WOW - were we pleasantly surprised.  The decor is beautifully done, casual and comfortable with sofas amongst the tables - very eclectic - loved it.  And - on top of that, the food was outstanding.  Each of us ordered something different and each of us loved our food.  Considering how crowded it became, the service was good. We look fsorward to getting back there.  Hope this is a sign that Trenton is on the move up.

Very nice and chic place to hang out in trenton. Didn't know places like this existed in trenton, lovely atmosphere. It reminds me of bars in old city in Philly or on south street.

Trenton Social has an excellent ambiance and I love the outdoor seating. Additionally, I am fan of the beer selection, although I wish they wouldn't cycle through beers so quickly.

The menu is frustrating. (This is on non-themed nights. The theme nights are awesome) The atmosphere is excellent, but the finger foods seem like pricey freezer section appetizers with stock sauces. The salads are good and are a wonderful part of the menu. (Said as someone who isn't a huge salad fan)

I am excited for the future of this restaurant. They have made an investment in Trenton and they are on the cusp of something great.

Guinness from a can, bit of a cool vibe atmosphere though. Chill tretenoiniens  that respect the traveling man.

Great place for a drink but terrible food. Ordered fish tacos but was served shrimp tacos instead. Tiny shrimp in salsa(?). Tasteless and warmed over. Asked for creme brulee and got banana creme brulee instead.Topping good but flan was bland. Very small portions of food but turned out that was a good thing! Staff friendly but not too attentive as I was served something other than what I ordered, twice! Waiter knew his beer though and recommended a great draft which I thoroughly enjoyed. Would go back for the atmosphere and drinks but not the food!

This was a very good restaurant.  The pumpkin ravioli in cream sauce was excellent.  There was no crowd but I think that was because no one knows about this place. However, I recommend this place if your looking for a nice trendy place that is located in Trenton.

Surprisingly nice evening...  Started with some cool grooves from the DJ and then some live original music that was actually pretty good. Little too loud at times to socialize but with great drink prices and an attentive, albeit forgetful, staff the place was a great find in Trenton. Crowd was mixed but mostly younger although nothing that made you feel out of place.

TC and the staff at Social make you feel like a friend. The food is great, the sponsored art exhibitions are quality, the music is top knotch, and the vibe is just what Trenton is all about.
