Great place if you are looking for fun with people who will not judge you. Very welcoming and fantastic burgers. It was a great time, not high class but not low class. There is a mix of all kinds at Nickel. Even some crazy chick dancing off beat and sing to a different song. Oh wait I think that was me. But a great time. Staff is great and had great manners, very upbeat and friendly. I will be back on my next night out. Thanks for the memories.
Review Source:I've been a patron and attended shows here since it opened 5 years ago. While I have a place in my heart for Tony's, "the nickel" has become my neighborhood choice. Primarily a Punk Rock venue, the jukebox has everything from Bad Brains to Hank Williams and lots in between. Drinks are better than affordable and their staff are friendly and attentive.
I read a review where someone got dirty looks here. In the five years I've been here I've only ever seen a few dirty looks here. A few from my girlfriend to me ;) and when someone acts like a dummy.
All in all a great place "off the strip" as they say. Also, great place for football on Sundays with 5 televisions and 2 big screens.
I love this place; it is one of my favorite bars in the Springs. Not too nice or clean inside, it has a ton of character and a pretty spectacularly unique crowd.
The price is right (read: cheap booze) and they have Pabst on tap, which is an immediate draw for me and my friends. The jukebox contains a pretty eclectic selection of music that just about mirrors my own iTunes; classic rock, heavy metal, old school punk and some country music all make an appearance, and none of them really seem out of place when played.
There is also a small stage in back that will sometimes have any number of different live acts playing some music. I have seen some equally awesome and terrible music here; but the cool thing is how close you get in with this up and coming or side project of a side project bands. As a warning, sometimes a cover will appear along with a night of music.
On some nights, this can be a pretty hip place, so if smug pretention or scarves in all weather makes you want to put a brick through your own face, this may not be the place to you. Â The bar has an affinity for the Pittsburg Steelers, which is obviously stupid and lame because that team blows dogs for quarters. Despite these issues, I absolutely love this place, and always do my best to convince friends to go there with me.
I love the Triple Nickel. I've seen a couple of shows at the TNT, and loved every minute of it. Now they have a nice big stage and it sounds killer. I've always felt right at home when I walked in - the smell of stale beer, dark, stiff drinks and great bar talk. There was a fun game there (shuffleboard) I think it was called. I had never played before, and I got a we bit competitive. Good times!
The TNT gets lots of great shows. The person who books there gets great bands consistently going through. The people of Colorado Springs are very lucky to have this bar.
I see the previous poster got dirty looks when she walked in. I've never had this experience at this bar. Granted I've had that experience at other bars, but never once at the Triple Nickel. The patrons and staff have always been more than awesome every time I came in. Check it out...I know they keep a list of their shows online, so Google it.
