Wow! Â This place is one of the best sandwich places! Â I am never going to subway ever again unless Tummy Stuffers is closed. Â I mean, I think subway sandwiches are awful to begin with, but after trying this place, you will despise subway and their measly 6" subs with tiny slivers of meat. Â This place gives you 8 inches of sub and is generous with the meat! Take that, subway! Â
The ingredients here are fresh and the bread is really good. Â If you have no idea what to order, you can't go wrong with any of the options they have listed on their menu board. Â The Monster is amazing but definitely not meant for one tiny person. Â Maybe 2 or 3. Â The place is usually pretty busy during lunch hour, so it's best to come early or a little later.
This place is great for lunch. It is a little hard to find because it's in a business area but its on the corner of Iowa & Columbia.
I'm a big fan of number 98 on squaw bread. It's turkey, bacon and avocado. Delicious. Definitely a no frills kind of place. It is a place full of regulars. Definitely stop by if you are in the area and are hungry for a sandwich. They have plenty to choose from! The owner is super nice. & the employees are really customer friendly (they remember my order - even reminded me when i forgot to say no mayo) Please remember that they add: tomatos, pickles and onions on the sandwiches... if you do not like... they are more than happy to accommodate your taste buds... just let them know!
This place is located in an industrial area (doesn't look ghetto though), so it's pretty tough to spot from the street.
It's also only open during lunch hours so take that into consideration if you're planning on visiting.
This place has a great selection of subs, all with great meat and fresh veggies. It's a little on the expensive end for a sub (I mean, it's pretty tough to beat subway) but it makes up for it in quality.
I use to come here every-so-often when I lived in riverside, it was definitely one of the better food joints around, no doubt. The employees are all really friendly, it wouldn't be a strange sight to see them smiling while taking your order. Definitely recommended if you're in the area.
This place is ehhhhhhh... not that good. I've had a few different sandwiches here and none were spectacular. I once has a teriyaki sandwich and the meat was so salty I couldn't bare it anymore and had to throw it away after 4 bites. Turkey on squaw is my favorite sandwich but this places turkey on squaw isn't very good. It is small and nothing is spectacular.
Review Source:I had the Swiss & mushroom sandwich. It's delicious! However, towards the end of the sandwich, I realized the bread got a little bit too chewy and "wet." I think they must have given me some bread that might not have been fresh. But it's okay, I enjoyed my sandwich, nonetheless.
My bf had the MONSTER and it's splendidly scrumptious!
I definitely recommend this place. WAY much better than Subway. :)
Love their turkey avocado special for $7. I order it at least once a week. Great little local business away from traditional commercial lunch places. The employees are friendly and will remember your orders on future visits. I highly recommend giving this place a try in the industrial park of hunter park.
Review Source:I needed a quick fix for lunch so I came here.
I am very strict about my diet lately so I decided to get the salad. They have no description for the salads but do no underestimate them. THEY ARE SO GOOD.
The place just list what seems like a boring salad category area without any description so I was pretty scared of what I was going to get. I was hoping for a nice salad with variety of vegetables and that is exactly what I got!
- Chicken Breast Salad: Ice berg lettuce, avocado (super fresh), half boiled egg, red cabbage sliced, lots of tomatoes, really good chicken (a lot of chicken too!), carrots, and cucumber.
Trust me on this one... If I ate my salad without dressing and I say it's good, it's really good.
The ingredients are so fresh and nice but to honest the decor and the interior is pretty outdated.
Wow. I wish they extended their hours. I don't live in Riverside anymore but this place was on my top 3. I still think about the sandwiches I ate there. Side dishes are awesome. You can't go wrong with tummy stuffer.
Also, I tried the other tummy stuffers in OC... Not the same... this place just has the good stuff.
Outstanding sandwiches. Â Well, outstanding sandwich, since I've only ordered the same thing once a week for the last 5 years. Â My poison is the tuna sandwich, comes on a super soft french roll. Â The key is the tuna - the mayo to tuna ratio is spot-on. Â A little spendier than the tuna at Subway, but you get a way better quality sandwich. Â Yum!
Review Source:The portions are huge! Â Good prices with daily specials. Â It is located in a business park and sort of hard to see the sign. Â
I had the turkey avocado special on squaw bread. Â It was pretty good but I didn't like the chopped up lettuce. Â
The bf had the steak which is a hot sandwich and that was really good. Â Flavorful and packed with meat.
Known for having 101 different sandwiches. Â I will have to come back and try them all!
I heard about this place through a friend. I was surprised to see that Tummy Stuffer is hidden around the industrial area of Iowa Ave/Columbia Ave. I always drive on that street leaving school, and I never bothered to look in that area until now.
Their sandwiches look like banh mi. I ordered an 8" #62, which is the Roast Beef, Avocado, and Mushrooms. I also asked for mayonnaise, diced tomatoes, and diced onions inside. The sandwich cost me about $5, which is a bit cheaper than Subway considering it's an 8".
The sandwich was pretty decent. I really liked the flavor that the onions brought to it. I never tried eating mushrooms in a sandwich, but it added a nice touch. Other than that, the sandwich didn't bring me any fireworks, but then again they have many other special sandwiches that I have to try.
I'd go here again, but I'd rather choose sandwiches that have the STARS next to their names on the menus. Those are their special sandwiches.
Just a couple recommendtions. Â I like the squaw bread and order the small roast beef, avocado and cheese (ask for the pepper jack), everything on it. Â
The salads are pretty good too but who orders a salad when there are so many sandwiches to choose from. Â The chicken salad has a bit of curry flavor that I don't like but some might.
$1.75 for a refillable drink and a side to 'combo' the sandwich. Â Stick with the chips. Â There's a good variety and the potato and macaroni salad are straight from a plastic bucket. Not good sides at all unless you are a big mayo fan.
Number 37 is calling my name. Â Steak, Grilled Onions, and Mushrooms. Â Ahh, so good.
It takes a little longer to prepare because it's hot but it's worth the wait. Â
This place is generally hopping pretty good during lunch and they seem to get the orders out relatively quickly. Â The bread they use is fresh and tasty. Â They have a small or large size sandwich. Â I don't know if they make the roll but it is fresh with a slight crunch on the crust and soft inside. Â I have gotten their roast beef with mushrooms but I find the raw onions too much. Â I can't go back to work with hot onion stank breath so I will either not get onions or get them grilled. Â
They have a huge variety of sandwiches (100+) so I would recommend that you grab a menu and review while you're in line. Â The specialties are numbered which can make it easy to remember and to reorder. Â They have a cooler with Arizona Ice Tea (.99), Snapple and other similar drinks including water. Â They do have fountain drinks and iced tea. Â The water in the plastic pitcher is a little funky probably tap water so I would just get bottle or the Arizona Tea for a buck.
Most of the time I will eat in because they have a Paramedic Academy somewhere nearby and the strapping young lads with big shoulders and arms patronize this place often. Â Great eye candy. Â
Anyway if you are seated inside and have grabbed a table keep in mind it's hard to hear them shout your order number because they play music for a little lunch time ambiance. Â
They're located in a business complex that has one way traffic so parking can be difficult and tight. Â If you do decide to try this place out (which I recommend) you should either come close to 11 or after 2 once the lunch crunch is gone. Â They're only open til 4 so don't come too late.
I just had a sense of nostalgia when my friends and i were talking about sandwiches, and i remember this place i used to go to all the times when i was going to UCR at the time.
I'm very happy to see that after 7 years, that place is still there, cause their sandwiches were the best. My favorite was the MONSTER, it had everything you wanted in a sandwich... layers of roast beef, ham, turkey, cheese, bacon, and their homemade salsa they put on top. OMG i can till remember the taste of it even today.
The place is real chill, the staff are very friendly. It's a cool place you go to eat before class, or after basketball where you want to go somewhere to grub.
It's sad this place is only open on weekdays, but who can blame them, cause they're so popular. I've since moved away from there, and the only time i get to go there is on weekends if i get a chance, but they're not open... sad. One day, i will go back and get another monster sandwich, and probably take one to go as well. haha.
This place is like a hidden eatery, a hole in the wall that is.
Price: 8 in. sandwich is about $4.70-$6.50 and 12 in. sandwich is about $5.80-$7
Highlighted Sandwich: The ones with the  ** are the best to me
-Meatball & Cheese
-Pastrami, Mushroom, and Cheese
-Steak, Grilled Onion, and Cheese **
-Steak, Avocado, Mushrooms, and Cheese **
-Roast Beef, Turkey, and Cheese
-The MONSTER: Â Avocado, Roast Beef, Ham, Turkey, Swiss Cheese and Bacon
-Ham, Â Avocado, and Cheese
-Tuna, Bacon and Cheese
-Avocado, Turkey, and Bacon
The sandwiches are like fresh Vietnamese baguettes or banh mi. The portion is quite generous. Also, the avocado is super fresh!
I'm not sure if i was super hungry because I had a small early dinner the night before but DAYUMM the sandwich was BOMB. I was so excited to unwrap the sandwich as soon as my order came. I usually take pictures of my food before I eat for yelp but woops. I took a bite of my sandwich and totally forgot about the picture. So if you look through the album, you can see a biten sandwich...kekeke. Oh man, I was in such a good mood eating it. I look like a fat kid prancing around with a sandwich her mouth.
Oh yeah the service amazingly nice. Jennifer, the cashier, was so friendly. She knew everyone's name and I thought that was cool. I grew up in a big city and so going into a small shop like this and having people know you is amazing. So I talked to her, so hopefully she knows my name. Imma keep coming back until she remembers me so when I come in, she can be like "How are you doing Tammy? Want the usual with no mayo? Got it!" :]
I've been having sandwiches here since the mid 90's. Sandwiches are big and delicious. I usually get The Monster sandwich here. Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, Bacon, Avocado, and Swiss. Can't go wrong with that, right? It's a really good sandwich packed with a lot of fresh ingredients(bread tastes like it was recently baked) Â for only $7. I'd definitely reccomend it if you're hungry. They also have $5 footlong options for those who may be interested as well.
Good luck trying to get a sandwich during the lunch rush though, there's always a bunch of UCR students and people from around the business complex getting lunch here. It can really get packed sometimes.
One cool thing that I've seen them do with their sandwiches is that they don't cut the bread all of the way through. They leave a little bit of space at both ends of the roll, so nothing falls off. It's a brilliant idea and I'm surprised that most sandwich places haven't stolen that idea yet.
My only vice with this place is that the meat portions have dropped in recent days. You definitely don't get as much meat as you used to anymore. The sandwiches are still good here and the portions are still above average, but it's hard not to notice when you've been going here as long as I have. Those who haven't been eating here as much as I have will probably never notice or care, but if you haven't been here in a while, fair warning.
awesome little gem of a place.
sandwiches were about 5ish for the 8inchers. Â they look like banh mi and beverage options are reasonably priced (~1$). Â only downside to this place is its visibility from the street. Â
had the steak and avocado which was a delicious eat after a few pick up games. Â options include tomatoes, onions and pickles for all sandwiches for no extra charge. Â wait time is about 3-5 minutes.
This place has some really good sandwiches! The bread alone is delicious, but the sandwiches taste really fresh. Much better than the big chain sandwich shops. The location is kind of hidden, its in a little business park area so you may miss it at first if your looking for a little restaurant on its own.
This place gets pretty packed too, around lunch time expect a line and a full house from people that work in the industrial area around the shop. It's always packed, which reflects how good the food here is!
Definitely a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but a hidden jewel. Located in the business park off Iowa Avenue, one may want to Google map the location before driving over to have a idea how the storefront  looks as it is identical to its neighboring businesses.
It is definitely helpful to look above their back wall on their black chalkboard for recommendations of their most popular sandwiches. On my first visit, I order the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich (cold sandwich). I'm nonchalant about turkey, but I am definitely a fan of avocado in my sandwiches. It was love at first bite. The last time I had a really good sandwich was my last visit to SF's Gregoire. You wouldnt think that such simple concoction can awaken taste buds. I also had the monster sandwich, if you love meat, then this sandwich is just for you as it includes such meat as roast beef, ham, turkey. Â
Unfortunately, most of the sandwiches are placed on plain baguettes. I can only imagine how much better it would be if they offered different bread selection.
Overall, the price is decent ranging from $6-7 before tax depending on the length you choose for your sandwich as they have that option. Â Also, keep in mind that they only open on weekdays until 4 PM.
This sandwich shop is located in a business park on Iowa. It's easy to miss, and the establishment itself has sort of a nice hole-in-the-wall feel.
STEAK SANDWICHES. I freaking love theire steak sandwiches. I don't want to try anything else because their steak sandwiches are so damn good. I like the steak mushroom and cheese sandwich. Also, it is worth mentioning that their 12 inch only costs $1.20 more than their 8 inch. So just get your 12 inch, lol.
Also they serve Admiral Green Tea, which I think is far better than Arizona (and I loved Arizona green tea!)
STEAK SANDWICH!
I go here quite frequently for lunch. The sandwiches are good, not too pricey, and close enough to UCR for a quick to-go order.
You don't walk the sandwich maker through your order like at a usual sub shop. You order it, toppings and all, they make it. Less time wasted on people who can't decide what veggies they want. They have a large menu with a lot of sandwiches/categories. They also do rice bowls but I've never tried them.
They keep it simple and dice up the onions, pickles, tomatoes. If you order avocado, its mashed up and spread on (and seasoned pretty well too). Pepperoncinis are just thrown in your sandwich whole. This is definitely a no frills kinda place. But the food is fresh and yummy!
Although this place can be pretty busy, the service is very efficient and the orders are ready within about 5 minutes.
My fav's are the italian sub, the pastrami/mushroom, and the turkey/bacon/avocado!
Out of 100 and something sandwiches I must have picked the wrong one, I ordered the steak, avocado, and provolone cheese and honestly the steak was flavorless and there was a little too much onions (it overpowered what little flavor the meat had). I'll have to come back and try other sandwiches, it may change my mind about this sandwich shop.
Pros: very friendly service, good prices, and the bread is good (like viet sandwich bread).
Cons: looks like an office building, so it's very easy to miss, parking is limited, and the place gets packed quickly.
101 sandwiches? Â sounds promising
I was told of this little sandwich spot by a coworker and on my Monday off i decided to stop by. Â I had to stop by on my off Monday cuz this place must be making enuf dinero that they are only open in this industrial strip mall Mon-Fri 9a-4p. Â Who the hell still gets by on banker's hours? Â no weekends? no spot for late night grub once a week or so?
You are less than a few blocks away from the UCR dorms and you don't wanna take these college kids' money? Fine owners.....if sleep, rest, quality time with your family is more important than money, so be it. Â Oh well.
Another beef i have-
The whole 101 sandwiches thing?
They have "101 sandwiches" on the menu, but it is more like
1. Turkey
2. Turkey and Cheese
3. Turkey and Swiss  (did Swiss cheese stop being "cheese" and i missed the memo?)
4. Similarly - Roast Beef and Pepper Cheese (ditto above) Â i guess Turkey doesn't warrant Pepper Cheese as an option.
You can choose between French/Wheat rolls, rye, sourdough and squaw breads. I normally go for the whole grain or darker breads...cuz like mom said..."The whiter the bread, the quicker you're dead". Â But damn, sourdough tastes so good! Â And i'm too lazy to go to TJ's or the farmer's market for whole wheat sourdough every time i need bread. Â Get that stuff in the supermarket and i'll be all over it! Â
Anyway, back to the sandwiches. After all this I have to admit that the sandwiches are damn good! Â I get a turkey avocado and cheese on wheat and it's great. Luckily the bread doesn't disintegrate under the weight of the fillings. Fresh and ripe avocado, provolone, and sliced turkey. Very tasty, very filing and i'm pissed that I can't get this after work or on the weekends when I'm too lazy to make my own! Â
They also chop up a nice relish of bite sized pieces of tomato, pickles, onions to put on your sandwich...super good and makes each bite tasty and evenly distributed with the whatever "meat" filling or combo of meats you choose.
Get here early. Don't plan on weekends cuz they're closed. It is worth the trouble to go here on your weekday lunch 'hour', if you still get one of those.
I work not too far from this little tiny Sandwich place, so of course I'd have to check it out.
The sandwiches are good, with a large amount of meat in it, compared to places like Subway. Â The rolls are store bought, which is expected, but still pretty good. Â
They do seem a little pricey for what you get, but with little to no local competition, they can get away with that.
If you order pickles be prepared to find diced pickles on your sandwich, something that still takes some getting used to for me .
I freakin' luv the name of this place.
The boyfriend and I caravaned yesterday from Vegas to San Diego, and when we got to Riverside, I opened the yelp app and this was the coolest name with good ratings and not some waiter-service place near the next exit.
They have "101 sandwiches" on the menu, but it is more like
1. Roast Beef
2. Roast Beef and Cheese
3. Roast Beef, Cheese, and Onions
so it is 101 by topping amount. Â Prices are cheap!!!
I got the sandwich of the week which included chips and drink in price, turkey avocado 8 inch. Â You can get shredded lettuce, diced pickles (cool idea!), diced onion, diced tomato, mayo, and mustard for free - I went with lettuce, pickles and tomato. Â Avocado was yummy and fresh. Â I put some jalepeno chips in my sandwich for crunch.
The boy had 12 inch tuna avocado and liked his. Â When we got here, the place was packed, and a line out the door, but when we left it was suddenly empty. Â A hot spot for nearby businesspeople, construction workers, and the hungry lost soul.
Industrial area with lots of streets torn up. Â If I ever find myself in Riverside again I could stuff my tummy here for sure.
*Interesting side note: on the chalkboard menu they had "rice with steamed veggies" listed aka random
Having not been here before I asked the staff what is good. I was recommended the 'stuffer' or the 'monster'. Being as the 'stuffer' sounded like a cheese steak sandwich and I wasn't in the mood for that I oped for the 'monster'.
It was boring and fatty, smooth with no bite, too creamy... the sandwich is basically all their meats stacked with cheese, avocardo and mayo.
It needed pickles, or vinegar... just something to cut through the fat of the avocado and mayo.
This is no magic sandwich science here... you have to balance fat and acid.
So this place gets 2 stars "Meh. I've experienced better." Because I have.
I agree with all the reviewers that they have a HUGE selection of sandwiches. Â It's hard to choose so I usually stick with the BLT with avocado. Â They chop up the pickles and onions medley to small pieces so you get a bit with each bite. Â Also, they give you a LOT of bacon. Â
The staff is extremely efficient with their sandwich making skills-- I don't think I've ever waited longer than 4 minutes tops for them to call my order. Â
It's a great go to place if you have no clue what to eat come lunch time (it's happened to all of us...) as the sandwiches satisfy your hunger. Â Also, I like to support the small business owner. Â All that being said, it's a good solid lunch choice.
My fiance and my experience at Tummy Stuffer was one not so much for the food, but the connection that the owner and cashiers had with the common clients. Â It was both of our first times at Tummy Stuffers and we do love supporting the local mom n pop places because their food is usually better then the highly commercialized alternative.
If you are looking for a place to get a good pastrami sandwich (definitely not HAT-like), then this is a good place to go, plus their enormous selection of sandwiches to choose from.
Their sourdough was very dry and did not seem to hold well as expected of a well-run mom n pop. Â Aside from that, it's a place we would contribute to again.
My wife and I were originally going to go to Delia's Grinders but saw the 5 star reviews and it was closer to us. We were a bit hesitant as there were only 5 reviews but we thought we'd give it a try.
It wasn't terrible, just not very outstanding. Extremely ordinary. We had two of the customer favorites. I had the pastrami, mushroom, and swiss, and my wife had the club avocado, turkey, bacon. Â They were both decent but nothing to write home about. Â I had the potato salad as the side and my wife had the macaroni salad as her side. Both were stuff we already had at home!! Reisen's prepackaged stuff that you find at the grocery store.
One outstanding thing about them is that their extra tall Arizona drinks are only 99 cents.
Another place my co-workers introduced to me.
Every sandwich I have had here is TO DIE FOR.
There are seriously like 100 sandiwches/combos to choose from. They also chop up in teeney-itsy-bitsy bite size pieces tomato, pickles, onions to put on your sandwich...super good and makes each bite evenly distributed with the each topper.
My fave is turkey, bacon and avocado. The pastrami is YUMMY on a cold day. The combo with a fountain drink and a bag of chips or side of mac / potato salad for like $ 6.99 for a small (8 inch) or like $ 8.99 for a jumbo-troinc 12 inch.
As others have said...parking TOTALLY sucks at lunch time as it is in a business park. I recommend calling ahead and ordering so you can run in and run out.
This place is probably one of the top sandwich establishments. Â This restaurant really lives up to its name. Â Your tummy will be stuffed. Â From the outside you would think it was an office and it is very easy to miss. Â This will definitely put Subway to shame. Â They have a huge variety of subs and something for everyone. Â Large selection of meats and other ingredients. Â If I'm ever around Riverside I will try to make an effort to eat here. Â Just fabulous!
Pros: Â Best subs ever!
Cons: Â None of far.
