John's is a great dive. Â If you want an elegant dinner, you have to go somewhere else. Â The food and service is usually very good and the prices are great. Â They have a large selection and the menu is the typical family resturant style. It is great comfort food. Â The decor is dive but my wife and I enjoyed many lunches and breakfasts there.
Review Source:I went there on a monday  because it was recommended too bad they were wrong . I had swedish pancakes with strawberries and bacon . They covered them in so much whipped cream that it looked like a mid winter snow storm .
It was also too cold inside the restaurant and the decor looks as if it came from a 1970's restaurant due to the age .
Last word just pass by the place that looks like an old drive-in without being a drive-in .
Many people have encouraged me to try the Breakfast here..... so this morning I did.
Well so much for the order 2 get 3 stories, or perhaps that's only for regulars news flash the regulars look like they are ready to die.... the future regulars could be me and the friend that I brought with me on the recommendations others had given me. It sucks when you promise someone a great breakfast and don't get it.
The Pancakes tasted old and even to the point of being tough.... the Bacon was just weird.... not sure if it was the way it was cooked or if it's cheap bacon to begin with. Coffee was weak, I wish I had ordered Juice instead.
Probably not coming back and I would never recommend to anyone, with the fear that they would have a similar experience to me..... POOR...
The only positive was that the server was very pleasant and she took our order well and checked back with us several times.... I just didn't want to complain in person. And I guess my complaints are only due to other friends of mine building up my expectations before arriving.
When there are better places so close by you have to live up to your reputation! Sorry to have to be honest with my review, but I hope this helps your business improve.
Lots of good breakfast and lunch diner fare. Â An abundance of food, but not much of anything out of the ordinary. Â It is a nice touch they ask if you would like onions, peppers, etc. in your hash browns. Â Good sized omelets with ingredients of your choice, but they were a tad overcooked. Â Toast was buttered and hot, eggs cooked properly. Â The decor on the outside and the decor of the interior are drastically different. Â A good clean place for a large amount of food at an exceptionally low price. Â Two people can eat a large breakfast with additional sides and beverages for $10, not something one can do at many places these days. Â Very attentive servers who constantly refill things and ask up front if you want condiments. Â Good service, good food, exceptional prices
Review Source:Been here 3 times and each time I gain 10 pounds. They serve huge amounts, but beware...they ALWAYS give you more than you order. Order two eggs, you get three. Order one pancake, you get two. Order a 3-egg omelet and you get a 4-egg omelet. The decor is small town greasy spoon and the food is perfect for it. It is not a 5-star restaurant, but when you are looking for small-town diner food...it is 5-star.
Review Source:Great and tasty menu selections for your typical breakfast items. Â There are a few specialties which sounded really good but haven't tried them as of yet. Â If you like coffee, the service is extremely fast for fill up's. Â I would have a sip and my cup would be filled right back to the rim. Â I actually had to pull my cup away just to keep them from filling it. Â Definitely one of the better picks for a breakfast diner in Belvidere.
