I've got mixed opinions about the Union House but the best part is the pizza and that's really what counts. Â Five of us went and ordered several different pizzas. Â They were all the same size, a bit too big for one person but not big enough for two, and this means leftovers. Â Everyone was happy, though one of us thought that the buffalo chicken pizza might have been a little too spicy. Â The other good thing about the place is the view. Â There aren't too many windows, but they look out of the mill building and it's an interesting view.
Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired. Â After sitting around for ten minutes, a man came up to our table and told us that they didn't have waitresses so we had to order the food at the far side of the bar. Â We persuaded him to give us menus and after a little while we figured out what we wanted. Â Drinks and food came slowly but it was all good when it came. Â
The atmosphere was more pub than pizza. Â There's basically a big bar with some tables around the sides. Â When people congregate at the bar, they block half of the tables. Â The crowd wasn't young. Â There were people of all ages there, but the majority looked like they hadn't seen their 40th birthday in a while.
The restaurant seemed clean and well taken care of. Â While the decor wasn't at all fancy, nothing was in bad shape and really, who needs fancy surroundings for pizza and beer?
Finally, parking is tight. Â The parking spaces are small and many people have obviously not even made an attempt to fit their cars into the spaces. Â This isn't the restaurant's fault and I don't hold it against them, but think about taking the smallest car you own when you go there.
