I had a great time here but really, it was more from the band and the company than from the place itself. But there wasn't necessarily anything wrong with the place so I am a little torn on what to rate it. I doubt I would go back unless there was a band there I wanted to see...
We came here to see The Raspas, a reggae group from Austin that I had seen before. I knew they would be fantastic as they always play a great show and play their hearts out no matter how many people are there.
We got there about 8:30 as the band went on at 10. I figured we could have a few beers and enjoy before the music started, plus I wanted to make sure I got a table up close to the stage. No worries on that! When we got there, there was a total of maybe 5 people there. More people came in later, but it was never what you call busy.
The domestic bottles are $3 which is typical, and the bartender was super sweet. They don't do a pre-auth when you start a tab, so they keep your credit card. So, if you're drinking a lot, remember to grab your card at the end of the night!
They were showing the football game and they guys didn't start playing until after it was over, which kinda sucked. I was there for music, not football. But I think I was in the minority; plus when they got ready to play the bartender came up and told them to keep the sound down. Um. What? You have live bands but you want them to keep the sound down? Luckily the sound system was pretty decent and of course the Raspas KILLED it!
I really don't know what kind of bar this is...it's definitely not a reggae bar; they played 80's country in between sets so maybe it's more of a country bar? We talked to the guys in the band and they said it was a last minute gig and they were just happy to play together, so it worked out for them. I just felt so bad that nobody was really listening to them...which is sad because they are a REALLY great group!
They do have a lot of TVs and they have the TV monitors at the bar which is cool; pool is $6 and hour which isn't bad, and the bartender said darts are free. They have a few video games and a pinball machine. There is no smoking allowed which is why I gave an extra star; you have to go out back to smoke which is fine by me!
It wasn't a bad time; in fact it was a really good time, but since that was due to other factors than the place itself I doubt I will be back any time soon.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed our visit. We were there on a Friday night, they have $1 drinks after 8. They weren't really busy, which was fine with us. We tried Time out that's in the same strip mall, but it gets way too crowded there. The bartender was really nice, it's a laid back place. They have tons of tvs, pool tables and have bands on Saturday nights. There is also an outdoor patio. They do a free buffet on Sundays, we've been wanting to check them out for that but haven't made it back yet. But we definitely will.
Review Source:It's a shopping strip bar in Webster...you can't get much better than 2 stars in my opinion. Â
I came here recently to watch a friend's band (American Swindle) perform and the space works well for local bands. Â There are plenty of tables and booths, pool tables, dart boards and a large central bar. Â They have a large patio out back and the bar actually has some craft beers on tap...nice touch!
This is our favorite spot for a steak on Monday night; only $6.50 if you buy a drink. Steaks are cooked outside on the grille to order. Happy hours are cheap: $2.25 for well drinks. Oodlies of monitors to watch sports. Bands on Saturday. Free Sunday buffet for football fans. Mostly male hangout, but seems pretty safe. Only one female bartender so take your time; she really hustles though.
