Snap. Talk about a hole in the wall. Â When you roll up to the place, you'll know what I'm talking about.but don't let appearance fool you, the food is legit.
I was with the fam driving down the street and saw the sandwich board on the sidewalk that said "Open". What the f? I knew this place was there, but it had been closed for as long as I can remember. We had to try it. Â
Going in, you wouldn't think it was open. There is seating available (yes, a highchair for my 10 month daughter, too), but it really looks like a "to go" place. Greeted by a young kid that could possibly be a member of the Black Eyed Peas. Â Friendly, but not much of the smiling type, but you know, looked like a typical teen suffering from the angst that we all went through. Â So hard is the life of young folks with smartphones and social media...and angry birds.
Anyhow, menu is, in fact, unique. Â A few examples: Â Fried corn, Peanut Butter Crunch Salad, Bacon Cherry Burger, P.B. and Bacon Burger, and Hillbilly Dog. Â A food truck from San Francisco comes to mind...
As my standard go to burger for foodie-type analysis, I got the Bacon Egg Cheeseburger. It was done just right. The burgers are hand made and this one tasted great. Not greasy, but totally juicy. Â After one bite, I knew we would be coming again. Â I had a corn casserole for my side. Tayystee.
Any foodies reading this? You had better come out to try this place. Seriously. Unique Blends loses a star due to the super quiet atmosphere. However, bring a friend, have some conversation, and embrace this true definition of Hole in the Wall. Or hidden gem. Or whatever you want to call it. Just don't call it some run of the mill chain like Red Robin. And whoever is doing the Support Local initiative http://igg.me/p/292171, this place could probably use you!
