My first time at this club will be my last. I was in the area having a holiday dinner with my wife's coworkers. We all wanted to go dancing afterward and someone suggested OEC. It was Saturday night and they have a "deal" where it's $20 to get in the door and you can drink "free" the rest of the night. I treated 3 friends to admission plus my wife and me. When we entered there is a foyer area where you pay admission and unbeknownst to me, you get a full body frisk. I was startled when a little security man the a big jerk attitude started groping me as I was attempting to pay and waiting for the admission girl to multiply 5 times 20. They couldn't have been more rude and if I hadn't been with the group, I would have left before paying. So the full body frisk is mandatory for all men; following that logic, if a man wanted to sneak in a weapon he'd have a woman carry it. This is obviously above the mental capacities of the pinhead bouncers. I was also wondering about how safe the area is if all of this is required.

After getting treated badly at the door, we entered the cavernous bar called Urban Cowboy. There are long bars along two opposite walls and a dance floor surrounded by a railing in the center of the room. The room is so large that the country themed decor goes almost unnoticed and the dance floor seems small. There was one bartendress working and would only serve you if you walked to the end of the long bar where she was standing. I tipped her out of common decency but not because she deserved it. The experience wasn't all bad, the music was good and played at a level that had people dancing and we were able to talk. There were several pool tables in one corner that several cowboys were enjoying. There was also a mechanical bull in the opposite corner but I didn't see anyone ride it or enter the area, as a matter of fact the lights were dark in that are and if someone hadn't have pointed it out I wouldn't have known that it was there.

There is a hallway that connects another bar, a dance club called Platforms. We all walked back to it to check it out and danced a couple dances. The decor reminded me of a poor man's disco, it's pretty ghetto and felt dirty. I don't know how old the place is but it looks like it could use some updating. The dance floor was nothing more than a scuffed up, dark wooden rectangle in the center of the room. The lighting is lame, not much of a light show on the dance floor. There are some hightop tables around it and two bars on opposite sides of the room. The room doesn't appear to be as big as the other bar but it's 2 story with a balcony area. I did't bother to go up there and check it out. The patrons seemed to be enjoying the place so perhaps is fine for the locals.

In the end, with the rude security staff pacing around like SWAT team wannabes and the poor service and stark decor I'm afraid that I can only give it 1 star.

If you like :08 you will love this place... Read and figure out why.

So I ended up going on friday night to Urban Cowboy for a concert event featuring Billy Currington. I arrive in ocala and not being familiar with the area was able to find it easilly enough, There is a huge screen on the building with its name. Parking was easy enough found a spot right away in the grass lot accross the street. Got in and it looked like your typical country bar with some exceptions... The dance floor is about average size, really it was undersized for the size of the room.

The inside is pretty damn big and its got bars on two or three walls that stretch the entire lenth of the wall. There arent alot of bouncers walkin around and the ones that I did run into werent dicks, with one exception but thats a long story. As for the inside, its not really anything impressive. Its really open and access to the bar was no problem given the size and abundance of them.
The one thing that caught my eye along with the guys I was with was that they had to have had 20 beer girls / bartenders that were 8-10's. And they apparently have a uniform that is as follows.. Boots, Super cut off shorts, and checkerd shirts rolled up and tied so there entire torso is exposed, and lots of clevage. I also picked up on a trend that some of the had tatoo's that just barely peaked over thier belts right above thier vag's. So even though picking one up would be a challenge at best they're still good to look at.

Every now and then you will get one walking around with test tube shots, jello syringes, and one girl even had what looked like fruit punch in a ghost buster like contraption. I actually got the jello syringe which the girl actually shoots into your mouth and then she gives you a squirt of whip cream. Pretty fun stuff.

I didnt get a chance to listen to much of the music inside because like i said i was there attending a concert event. The outside was just an outside. It had a bar and a stage nothin special. But lots of fun.

I give this place a five star because after going to :08 seconds for the last 5 years this place is a major step up. Better looking girls, bigger building, and you get away from all the college students playing cowboy for a night like they have at :08. Take the trip one time and try it out.
