This place will go out of business. We stopped here to have lunch, use our Groupon coupon and go to a movie. We were here at 2:05 and they close lunch service at 2:00 pm. We drove 40 miles from Dunnellon for this. The owner did not care. We returned after the movie to use our coupon. There were just 12 customers including us at 7:00 pm pm Memorial day weekend. Food was OK but we won't be back!
Review Source:I believe that this restaurant is now under new management and has changed it's name to urban grill. Â I went and tried their lunch buffet and was pleasantly surprised. Â Both the spinach paneer and the eggplant were as good as I have had anywhere. Â They also had a fish curry which was excellent. Â The chicken tika Marsala was ok...nothing wrong with it but it didn't pop the way the other dishes did. Â All in all, a very good spot for Indian food.
Review Source:Went to Urban Curry - name now change to Urban Grill - the other night with a group of 6. Â Service was totally unsatisfactory and food very poor. Â The Indian dishes we had very all very bland even when "spicy" was requested. Â No one knew anything about their wines. Â Overall, very disappointing and will not return. Â Obviously, the Indian theme did not work out and we could sure see why - terrible food and terrible service. Â Jimmie
Review Source:I am a big fan of Indian food so I knew when I was up at my yearly visit to the Villages I needed to try this new place out. We went for lunch buffet which was a bit smaller than I liked, but the food was good. Add a little more variety, especially with vegetarian dishes and the lunch buffet could earn some more points.
The buffet consisted of Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tandoori, A chickpea curry, a mushroom/veggie curry, a fried onion dish, tomato soup, and a rice pudding and of course basmati rice.
The Chicken curry was the best I've ever had, its obviously their specialty and the chicken was cooked so well. The Chicken tikka masala was good, but not as creamy as I would like. The other dishes were average nothing amazing. Naan was promptly served to us and we chowed. The rice pudding was simply to die for, its hard to think rice pudding could ever be so good but it was amazing!
Overall a great experience, i'm sure we'll be back but expand the buffet please!
Been there many times and always satisfied with food but not always with the service. Â Service is usually pretty good but appears inconsistent. Â Unexplained waits appear to be the issue.
A little on the pricey side and a little on the short side re quantity of food.
I like mine spicey but can't always get it that way.
In general, a good place for something different and worth going back.
This was a great restaurant. Â For an Indian Restaurant being in a retirement village, this place was awesome. Â The food was excellent the service was great and he had an Onion Chutney that was out of this world. Â The Chicken Tikka not the Chicken Tikka Masala had a great flavor!! Â Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Â Even my sister in law who never had Indian Food prior to this liked her food.
Review Source:I just went to Urban Curry for lunch, and the Lunch specials are awesome! Â I had the vegetable curry and it was amazing! Â It came with a large portion of rice and the vegetable of the day (cabbage with saffron and caraway I think) also with naan bread and a soup on the side... It was plenty of food and then some. Â Great for leftovers or to split between two for a light fare. Â Seriously an amazing value under 8 bucks. Â I believe this is my favorite new restaurant.
Review Source:Let me just start by saying that I am not generally a big Indian food fan. I had a bad experience a few years back (let's just say it's an altogether bad idea to eat at any restaurant attached to a gas station) and I haven't been brave enough to try again... until tonight. My husband has been bugging me to try this place for a month and I finally gave in to the pressure.
Urban Curry is located in the not-so-glamorous strip mall between Winn-Dixie and Belk, but when you walk in it feels like you are someplace.... well, urban. Some of the best things about Urban Curry:
- There isn't an overwhelming spice smell when you walk in the door.
- You can customize how spicy you want a dish. Mild, Medium (which is the equivalent of "American Hot") or Hot.
- The Bollywood music videos playing on the big screen over the bar!
- The servers are super helpful and knowledgeable.
- The fennel seeds they offer on the way out the door. Yum!
- The food is AMAZING!!
I had the Saag Paneer (cubes of homemade cottage cheese, potato cooked with fresh spinach, seasoning) Naan (Pita Bread) and the Veggie Samosas (puff pastry stuffed with vegetables and spices). Everything was exquisite and as you can see from the picture I added, the presentation was gorgeous. If you're in the area (or even across town) stop by. It's totally worth it.
