USS Chowder Pot

Please forgive me in avense for my poor english. I workked there at Chowder Pot in Branford, CT for 6-year as dishwasher, food prep and dining rum help. I witness (see) many times roaches in da kitchen and crawling on food. Dear is mouses in kitchen and in restrant. The food prep area, haad hundred of mini flies landing on deserts all the time. Owner daughtaer is a drunk and bully who treats staff like dogs. I saw Owner daughtaer spit in many customer food more than 5 time. One night after work, at 3 in da morning and daughtaer of owner was getting drunk with Chef and a bar tendor. I was washing floor and listened to owners daughtaer say very bad thing about many customers. Then they were betting monies on roaches racing up wall where customors sit and I saw the roaches on the tabel and on the wall and they were betting on which roach would win the race. The daughtaer is a degenerate gambler. Come to Chowder Pot Branford and eat roaches in your food.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. CALLED AHEAD ON THIS SATURDAY EVENING AND WAS TOLD BY THE OLD BAG WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE, "IT WOULD BE A 20-MINUTE WAIT," AND SHE TOOK OUR NAME. MY EXPECTATION WAS THAT SHE WAS LIEING ABOUT THE 20-MINUTE WAIT. I FIGURED IT WOULD BE AT LEAST ONE-HOUR WAIT, CONSIDERING IT'S A SATURDAY NIGHT. WE ARRIVED ON TIME AND GAVE OUR NAME TO THE HOSTESS, WHO WE LIKENED TO A "JAIL WARDEN." WE WAITED AROUND PATIENTLY FOR ABOUT 40-MINUTES, WENT BACK TO THE HOSTESS STAND AND WHERE THE JAIL WARDEN OLD BAG WEARING GLASSES, SNAPPED AT ME AND REFUSED TO ANSWER MY QUESTION; "APPROXIMATELY HOW MUCH LONGER OF A WAIT?" THE FEMALE MANAGER (BLACK HAIR, WITH TATOOS, SAID TO BE THE DAUGHTER OF THE OWNER), WAS EVEN WORSE, WHEN SHE ACCUSED ME OF BEING DISRESPECTFUL, BECAUSE I INSISTED ON AN ANSWER AND REMINDED HER THAT MY FAMILY AND I DROVE AN HOUR TO GET THERE. LONG STORY SHORT, WE LEFT AND VOWED TO NEVER , EVER RETURN. THE MANAGEMENT AND OWNERS OF CHOWDER POT IN BRANFORD, CT ARE A BUNCH OF A$$ H0LES! DON'T GO THERE

I LOVE the Chowder Pot.  Order the baked stuffed scallops. It's literally the best thing I have ever eaten. I can't drive past the Chowder Pot without thinking of the scallops and drooling. I might have to go there tonight after just writing this review about them... I can taste that buttery, sweet goodness right now!! You could probably have their seafood stuffing on just about anything and it would be amazing. If Bobby Flay did a Throwdown with the Chowder Pot chef on seafood stuffing, I am sure Flay would lose. It is absolute heaven!!

Besides the scallops I dream about, I've never had a bad experience with anything else I've eaten here either. Their calamari is outstanding. I've had friends and family order their pastas, fried seafood, other baked dishes, lobster, raw bar... all amazing. They have a great happy hour on Fridays in their bar area with a free food buffet and really good drink and appetizer deals - it's a total steal especially if you're on a tight budget. The bread they give you with the meal is amazing, drizzled with some kind of yummy honey butter. Service has always been great. I feel the prices are fair for the amount of food you get and the quality of it - you can easily plan to get 2 meals out of most of their dishes, even on the Lighter Fare menu (smaller portions & prices!).

I only wish Chowder Pot had bought the space that Lenny & Joe's recently moved into on Long Wharf in New Haven, with the beautiful view of the harbor... the view here is the only thing that's lacking! But it doesn't matter, once you're inside you forget about everything except the food!!
