This is one of the strangest venues I have ever encountered for live music.
The lobby area is very nice (I would like the facilities to the AAC). Very clean and well-maintained, and food and drinks available for purchase. The Verizon is an indoor venue with stadium style seating; IMO, It really has the feel of an IMAX screen movie theater. As far as seating goes, I really don't think there is a bad seat in the house. It was notably pitch black in the theater once the show started. It was really difficult to see where you were going if you needed to exit to use the restroom, and it was virtually impossible for us to locate our seats without the assistance of an usher.
Points gained: The show didn't sell out, and the venue moved us from our cheap-ass nosebleed seats to the floor.
Points lost: a fountain soda costs $6. Let that sink in for a minute.
Nutshell: This is not my new favorite live music venue, but I wouldn't hesitate to return to see a band that I enjoy.
I don't know what it is about this venue, but it rubs me the wrong way and not sure why? Maybe as I write those feelings will reveal itself in why I am not happy with this place. As for the music the sound is great. I think it is the fact that it is in Grand Prairie and no where near I live. That is number 1. I do not like the theater venue set up. There have been several times when the actual performer (usually a rock band) that commented on the type of setup while performing. Â Watching an opera or Concert Violinist at the venue may be grand, but not a high level rock band. Hard to mosh when you sit there in stadium setting as if to watch a movie. Â Oh well, maybe the $15 drinks and the $20 parking will entice me to go next time...Yeah, don't hold your breathe.
