Tahoe in its glory days where the clubs are nicely decorated and promoted was really something else. This club used to be called Altitudes and was battling with Neros in Caesars (now Monte Bleu) for the hot spot. Artie the One man show was at Caesars back then so you can say that he inadvertently helped out Vex. Still, the club has lost a lot of its luster.
VIP:
I have never seen it sold out in a decade (even during the coveted week of the Golf Tournament) so tables are always available, even though they say it is not. The tables are in tiers surrounding the dance floor like a theater (which it is) so the closer to the dance floors will cost you more. Price is reasonable but the Vegas wanna-be Men-in-Suits are not friendly. They despise anyone who is not flashing money or chicks in their faces. That is pretty much everywhere. I suggest you stroke their $18/hr egos and tip them $20 to break the ice.
CLUB:
Attire-----Do not expect Vegas as only a small portion are dressed to impress.
Set-up---Spacious and has good lightning, but only a few tables on the floors with stools and I have seen people literally fight for those. Go with a VIP booth for larger parties.
Performers-Not bad having both male and female dancers as well as acrobats. Ladies used to dance topless, not sure now.
Patrons-All are cool people, but crowd may get young and ghetto at times depending on venues.
Music---Top 40, old mix, and trance. Not a bad mix.
Guys and Gals:
For guys--With Artie the One Man Show, you will get MILFs and cougars outside from the Sacramento and surrounding areas looking for action. Younger ladies will be around the California bar and inside. Please do not expect Vegas, but you might find what you are looking for. BTW, watch out for the escorts that are there to make money in other ways if you know what I mean. If you are a regular Joe and a gorgeous lady walk up to you, most likely she just wants business.
For ladies--Most are harmless young normal men who will wear that button shirt with slightly sagging jeans that just want to stand near the bar and buy you a drink. All good. There will be however, Â a few cats walking around which got their stuff together: tall, full of confidence and swagger, well dressed in suits or physique- showing attire. And who can beat some of the celebrity athletes that will be there.
Hope this helped. Been there for many years on a yearly basis so just my opinion and observation.
My amazing friends planned the best bachelorette party a girl could ask for. We had an absolute blast!! It had been a while since I had been to a club in Tahoe so i was a little converned, but once we got inside Vex - we had bottle service and a great booth. It was close enough to the dance floor but far enough to where we had privacy. It was a great size for our group with plenty of seating room. Our waitress was friendly and we got our drinks fairly quickly.
The dancers and enterainment throughout the night gave it a little extra edge and the music was awesome. FUN FUN FUN, if you're looking for a place to go this would be it.
The only reason Vex got a 4 rather than 5 - the situtaiton on getting in is a bit of a mess. We were a group of 15 and we had VIP/bottle service. You only get to be a bride once (well at least you hope), so i wanted top notch service!! I wan't to feel like a VIP!  I didn't want to have to waitand get scruched and pushed and shoved and hear girls try to get in and cut before us. It was pretty obnoxious. They barely even acknoeldged or communicated to the groups & it was basically a shit show. We sat and waited longer than we should have until they figuired their list out and FINALLY let us in!!  If there was one thing that needs improvement, its the opperation of checking the VIP groups in. There should be an order not a hugr crowd smashing eachother, girls can get bitchy and it made me a little nervous. I didn't want something ruining my good time before we got in. Lucky for me, it didn't  but it could for someone else if this isn't corrected.
Oh yea and note to self if you take any sort of over the counter persciption (zantac, Pepcid etc. they will take it). Take it before you get into line.
I'll still go back because it was fun, but I will go with the expectation the entrance may not be a good time so I will grab a drink before getting into line.
My review is based on this club only and not comparing it to any others in the area.
Got to the club at 11.pm  the club is big and open.  Didn't smell like smoke like the rest of the hotel.
mixed drinks were ok..lots of ice.
the dancers were fun to watch, we appreciated the male dancer who didn't come off as a greasy, sweaty, shiny wet mess like some male strippers. Â He was just a hot, shirtless due who actually danced well.
the mix of people was pretty varied. Â i think all clubs are the same...3 to 1 men to women ratio.
$10 cover isn't too bad.
the music was ok. Â some top 40 pics mixed with a lot (too much) rap. Â Not into rap!
the floor was not sticky at all, like some reviews stated.
Left the club at 2am...still plenty of room to dance, but it was far from empty too.
We''' probably visit it again
Any review of a casino nightclub is pretty subjective based on whether you love or hate nightclubs in the first place. Personally, I'm not much of a nightclub guy. The overpriced drinks, pompous hard body bartenders, entitled skanks and repetitive house music are better left for horny college singles.
Nevertheless, Vex has a little bit more personality than most and the prices aren't nearly as outrageous as anything you'd find on the Vegas strip. The metal catwalks above the dance floor are a clever concept, and the attractive ladies who writhe on them keep the horniest guys occupied so the rest of us can dance.
There was a $20 cover charge coming in on a Saturday the weekend before memorial day, but fortunately the line for drinks was quick and the dance floor wasn't too crowded.
One female friend complained that there are no male dancers on the platform then low and behold, a buffed up shirtless man came out of the darkness and began pacing back and forth. He never actually danced, but at least she was satisfied.
Ok, where to begin. This club is NOT worth paying a cover! If you must go, call ahead for a guest list spot. The music was horrible. I mean, really horrible. DJ iPod Shuffle was in full effect and succeeded in playing music that made sure even the drunkest people couldn't dance to it. The gogo dancers looked straight bored, but the dude that danced to the dubstep was good, as well as the strange, out of place acrobats. Cirque de soleil meets soft-core porn? Drinks: not that bad. They were decent but the bartenders had to use the guns that have pre-measured shots. So strong drinks aren't happening. And neither are gratuities.
Take your business to Opal or just party in your room. For free.
This place is what it is. Someone said it's what you make of it in terms of experience and I totally agree. I went with a rowdy crowd in the middle of the night basically an hour or two before the club closed at 4 AM during an NYE celebration so there was no charge because basically there was nobody really in the club.
We got in easy, grabbed drinks, partied on the dance floor. The floor was sticky, the drinks were small and the shots were weak (i.e. not filled to regular shot sizes). However, we had a lot of fun anyway. It was good entertainment on the cheap and we made the best of it.
Once the club closed, we filed out and conveniently there were restrooms right outside. The influx of people suddenly on the casino floor didn't seem to phase security at all and they immediately went to the machines and tables. I guess that's a pretty good system.
Overall, it's ok, but only in a large group. If you're in a small group or a couple I'd skip altogether.
I'm a fan of this place strictly because it's Tahoe and your clubbing options are extremely limited.
Can someone please explain to me why there were 50+ people standing outside waiting to get in yet once you got in, the club wasn't even 1/3 full? What is this purpose?? To give patrons the illusion that it's on and poppin' inside?
I've never seen a club pat people down the way security does here. It's like your going through TSA!
Cover charge for girls that night was $10. I gave the girl a $20 yet no change back. That was my fault though for failing to realize that till after we got in.
The crowd inside was a mixture. Definitely agree with the other yelpers about the male to female ratio. There was way more men than there were women. Which is okay if that's the main reason why you're going out but as a female wanting to go out with friends and have a good time, I didn't like getting stared down by at least 5 guys at any given moment. Drinks were just your average drinks. Nothing special. The Cirque Soleil-esqe dancers were a nice touch. Something you don' t see often. I would personally get rid of the male go go dancers though. You can only pelvic thrusts for so long until people start thinking "WTF is that guy doing up there?!"
I would come back here again but only because there's no other option!
Decently strong drinks and pretty cool dancer / acrobat shows throughout the night, although music was kind of hit or miss. Â What I didn't get was the amount of security to get in - not even TSA feels me up that much when I leave something in my pocket and walk through the airport scanners. Â And I don't even want to know why the floor is that sticky - my buddy actually stepped out of his shoes while crossing a rough patch.
I don't really have anything to compare it to since this was my first time clubbing in the area, but I'd probably be just as fine crashing the bar just outside the club and rocking out to the live band.
Well I'm not quite sure how to review this club. I have one bias because I'm comparing to the Sunset Strip where i normally frequent but I also have a bias that I adore the 40-1 male to female ratio in South Lake Tahoe! I'll start by saying that Vex and Opal are the Tahoe spots, skip on Cabo Wabo (see my review). We chose to go to Vex because I can't stand even walking through Mont Bleu Hotel. Vex is a very cool Vegas feel night club with go go dancer truss platforms and an arena/stadium like feel where the VIP areas are elevated around the dance floor in the center. It is beautifully decorated.
Men were $10 cover, women were $5 (thought this was pretty funny since the clubs in Tahoe are in desperate need of women). Some Tahoe Clubs offer free drinks to women on the weekends. That $5 was all we spent though, guys pretty much fought to buy us drinks or bring us over to their bottle service.
I will mention that security is very high at the door and that a guy dancing with us was shoved about 5 min. after we arrived by another guy. I had him kicked out. All in all we had a fun night, come on what lady wouldn't with a 40-1 ratio? :)
3.5 stars
Maybe should've figured out this place was going to be weak based on the front page picture. Oh well.
So why is this place so sub-par? To start out, there was enough room to walk from one end of the floor to the other without bumping into anyone, and not because the floor was especially big. The place was sparsely populated at best, and the gender ratio was among the worst at any place I've ever been, including most baseball stadiums. The DJ was terrible, cutting off good songs a minute in and giving too much rotation to bad, undanceable music. Â The lighting was nauseating too, a bit of overkill with the strobe lighting. Â They did have some decent looking gogo dancers, but they were obviously disinterested, at least compared to their topless male counterparts.
I sincerely hope that this place isn't, as one reviewer said, "by far the best place to club in Tahoe."
A Las Vegas style nightclub in Lake Tahoe (although, toned down a lot for the "mountain folk").
I came here for my B-day celebration and have to say I enjoyed myself quite a bit. We arranged guest list before arriving and had no problems getting in at 11:30 PM on a Saturday night. No line, just walked right up to the doorman. They have a coat check near the front before you enter the club, so that's always convenient when dealing with Lake Tahoe weather (I think it was a $1 per coat). The club is huge and has tons of space to roam around in. I tend to prefer clubs with high ceilings as it cuts back on the claustrophobia you experience on the dance floor (bumping into drunken club chics and bro-hams is just a necessary evil). The place heated up when the crowd started to show up as the night progressed, but it never reached "Hell's Sauna" levels either.
Vex also features dancers that do acrobatics above your head (think trashy relatives of Cirque De Soleil) so that's always worth some idle entertainment as you take a breather from dancing and sip your overpriced mixed drink (another necessary evil of nightlife). My favorite are the girls that wrap themselves in a banner and spin their way down as it unravels (without being harnessed). Watching those women always seems to restore my faith in society, as I and countless other males can appreciate the artistry on display while engaging in rampant debauchery throughout the night. At least we end up being a cultured bunch of Heathen's by night's end. Bravo half-naked twirling banner lady!
Overall, I liked Vex. I wouldn't pay $20 to get in, but a prearranged guest list spot can remedy that situation (call the hotel and ask for the nightclub manager). It's a cool club overall and they actually had drink specials throughout the night (an increasingly rare oddity nowadays). I had 2 drinks and both were made stiff, so I have no complaints on the bartending front either (this coming from a Man who has a home bar as a piece of furniture in his house). Great place to dance the night away while visiting Tahoe.
PRO-TIP: FATBURGER and LA PIZZA KITCHEN are located right outside the club doors. Don't be afraid to step outside to "replenish" for 20 minutes with some decent food. Just get a hand stamp and head right back inside to re-join the party once your finished grubbing!
Call me a cheapo or inexperienced, but I never pay cover going to clubs. So when the people I went to Tahoe with said that Vex was charging 10 bucks for ladies and 20 for guys on a Saturday night, I squealed. Eeekk!
Me and my dance partner got in line at around 11:40 and was in the door at 12. The club wasn't extremely packed, which is fine with me, because I like to have at least an arms length in radius around me when dancing. I know, I'm weird. Anyway, Mr. DJ was playing mostly top 40 which I also approve.
Vex is any other nightclub. Guys are posted up on the walls drooling over the skanky dancers. And then you have those girls that get dolled up only to realize that the neon flashing lights doesn't make their looks any hotter. I was there strictly to dance. I may not have cut a crazy amount of rug, but it was fun to shake my brittle hips a little.
Tahoe has clubs?? what the heck!
Definitely not anything like vegas (or even close to it), but for tahoe, it wasn't bad. Â The club itself was pretty spacious, which gives lots of room for dancing. The line on a saturday night was pretty ridiculous, circling half the hotel. Come early if you want to avoid the line. But overall the club itself does get crackin!
Cover for guys is $20 and for girls its $10. You need to hold on to a receipt they give you if you want to go in and out (bathrooms are outside). (which I really don't get as you get TWO stamps on your wrist, anyway...isn't that enough?)
DJ plays mainly top 40s with a pinch of some old school.
They have female and male dancers that really get down. Supposedly after 12 the female dancers are supposed to be topless, but they were in bikinis pretty much the whole night for us. (sorry guys!) They were pretty damn acrobatic as some were coming from the suuuuper high ceiling and doing tricks on their way down. (check out my pics!)
Oh yea, they had the biggest age range than any club I've EVER been to, from newly 21 year olds to almost 80. (I'm kidding, but there were some whatever you call "older than cougars" in the vicinity. Not hating all at. They knew how to get down. haha
Overall, I think this is one of the better clubs at tahoe.
Vex is pretty amazing (if you have women with you).
Plenty of room to dance. Minimally sticky floor (only by 3 AM). Easy to access bars. Great dancers. DJ's play popular club songs and don't try to get more creative than their talent will allow.
However, once you get in there, even if you have a table, they are a little detached and not great for fishing.
What works for us is starting early at Cabo Wabo, snagging a bachelorette party (South Shore seems to have an endless supply), and crossing over in the tunnel.
You should be able to talk the guy down into waiving the $10 cover for any ladies pretty easily.
As for the drinks, the old rule applies here more than anywhere else, have a woman order your drink.
...otherwise, I hope you enjoy your Tonic and Tonic (with a splash of Vodka).
You will only have fun here if you come in the right state of mind. What is that, you ask? I will prepare you:
-This is not a Vegas club....it's about a 4 on a scale of 1-10.
-The men, on average, greatly outnumber the women
-There is no dress code. SO if you dress to the nines and show up in line behind a dude in flip flops and a t-shit...don't be surprised if he's let in right along with you.
-The age range is HUGE!! From the barely-turned-21 year olds to the newly turned 21x2 year olds...they will all be in attendance. This is not the quintessential hip club of 20-30-somethings.
-The room isn't just used for the club. It is technically a theater, there is a stage and there are tiers for chairs and private tables. Again, don't expect anything similar to a Vegas club.
-The line to get in is RI-DIC-U-LOUS. Get in line early, just do it. You don't want to waste half your night traipsed along the hallway in a cloud of second hand smoke.
ALLLLL that being said, the reality is that Vex is the only decent club within two hours of Tahoe. Your next best bet would be in Sac. And if you come prepared with realistic expectations, you will actually have a great time.
-Everyone dances
-There are gymnast/dancers that perform regularly in a cirque du soleil style.
-Girls...you WILL find men to dance with (you may find too many, in fact).
-Men....in my experience there can be some very attractive women who come here. Very attractive.
-The music is a fantastic blend of classics everyone knows, club/dance mixes, and new radio hits as well. If you come here and just can't get into the beat...there's something wrong with you.
Bottom line: Let loose and get groovy with some Tahoe locals. You're on vacation, dammit. Have fun!
Every time that i head to Tahoe I have to stop here. Its not hard to have a goo time when your downing AMFS all night! Went with a bunch of buddies and we FIST PUMPED the night away... Constantly being approached by the ladies because we were the only guys not in creep mode.
If your just chill and there to have some fun the ladies will flock! But if your in Stalker mode fellas your going to have a terrible time! You don't need chicks to dance when your VIBEN!
Drinks expensive. But a good night is never cheep! Great shows and two full bars. WHAT A BLAST!!
See you there the week of 09-03-10 to 09-05-10
My group of friends and I came here on a Saturday night. Â The place was definitely popping. Â
In regard to the music...music was good. Â If I remember correctly they had Top 40's along with some old school 90's music. Â
The show...they have half naked women doing acrobats on a silk rope, chain...you name it...AS they come out of the ceiling. Â This was pretty cool. Â I'm totally straight...but I have to say, this was pretty sexy! Â And man do they have killer abs! Â BTW...they also had a male (I think only one) go-go dancer. Â I don't know if it's just me...but there was nothing sexy about a shirtless meathead (I shouldn't be so mean, I'm sure he is smart?!) wearing baggy jeans and a baseball hat just doing ab rolls. Â Seriously? Â Totally killed it for me. Â Give me a guy who can break it down on the dance floor and then we'll see what's up. -Half point for the male dancer. Â Eeewww.
Drinks...drinks were definitely overpriced! Â Thank god we did the free drinks at Embassy...because it was OUTRAGEOUS to pay I think $6 or $7 for a bottle of BL. Â WTF!?!? Â I guess it was expected though, since it is Tahoe? Â -1 for overpriced drinks.
In regard to the cover...the cover sucked. Â For women, it was OK...the women in the group only paid $10, not bad...it is average. Â If I remember correctly though, the men in our group had to pay $20!!! Â WTF!?!? Â Seriously...it's not Vegas! Â There is no need to pay $20 for this place. Â I felt horrible for the guys in our group. Â -1 for outrageous cover. Â
Overall, I wish I could give it 2.5. Â Ehhhh.
Who wouldn't want to be a fan of this place? Boobies galore! Sorry, but my bi-curious genes just won't stop dancing. LOL Well, this is the place to go to in Reno. I just don't understand why there are people whining about the club rules and the club price and yet they still go in? Geez, just shuddup, dance, enjoy and watch.
I think I was too drunk that night my group and I went there for the first time. We were having a reckless time. We loved it! Topless girls, shirtless muscular guys, acrobatics... We were totally entertained, drinking and having stiff necks looking at the performers from above. (Ouch!)
When are we going back????? And, yeah four stars only coz I'm more loyal to Chippendales. LOL
First and foremost, I know this is the only true club in town.. Just because it is, you shouldn't gouge and take advantage of it.
Douchebag door guys.. Really? Â This isn't "Studio 54" and you really aren't that cool. Â So don't act like your shit doesn't stink and because you wear a black suit to work think that this is the best club on earth. Â
That being said.... I waited and got a call for a booth.. $750 for 11 people and 2 bottles of Absolut. Really? Â Fine, whatever. So I go meet up early to get entry and what happens? Â The door guys won't allow me to talk to who I talked to on the phone even though they said to meet them up front. Â Instead these apes talk to each other and don't even acknowledge me..
Then we get our group together and finally get in. Â Music is aight, dancers were cool but again, not worth the price that we paid. Â Our servers we cool and also our bouncer was alright. Â Interesting mix of people though..
Pain in the ass to leave and have to get searched every time when coming back in.. With what they charge VIP, can they have one of the apes set up a separate entrance?
I will have to channel the dancer in me to write this review....When you are standing in line to get into Vex...you have no clue what lies ahead.
As soon as I step through those doors and hit with the energy Vex puts off, I am completely transformed. There is not one song that makes me want to sit down. I am dancing all night unless I am taking a moment to get a drink that is not watered down or getting a water from one of the awesome bartenders. All the staff members rock, ther was no uppityness or attitude from any of them. Â
The dancers are awesome (and topless). The girls that suspend from the ceiling like sexy Cirque D Soleil is just so amazing....people slow down their high energy dancing and just watch these girls and all the sexy gracefulness they exude.
The fact that you have to leave the club to use the bathroom does not even bother me...it gives me a chance to stop and breathe. I forget to do that when I am dancing...
My friend and I love this place and we plan to come back once a month
for as long as we can!
VEX...You have my mark!
I had so much fun. I was there for a bachelorette party and we got a VIP booth with bottle service. OMG ! They even had chocolate covered strawberries at the table. The dancers were cool and they even had topless dancers. We paid the guy dancer to give the bachelorette a lap dance and it was great!
The down side was that the table cost $315 bucks but after I got over sticker shock, i had a great time. Also there were like a hundred other bride to be's there and met a ton of bachelor's at their bachelor parties. WTF?! Now its all a memory. :(
Not a bad club for SLT. Heck, probably the best club. Make sure you get the VIP otherwise you'll stay in line for drinks and end up spilling it anyways. Doesn't compare to clubs in Vegas or Hong Kong, but this is better than nothing :)
Younger crowd that doesn't really get going until after 11pm. Music started out great but then changed to too much techno in the early morning hours.
The catwalk with the girls (and one guy) dancing on them is pretty cool and gives you something else to look at.
BUT, what the heck is it with the bathrooms outside the club? And then you have to stay in line all over again with all the other re-entries. Very annoying, very inconvenient, especially since they didn't have a VIP re-entry.
Blah... another club review... I have to keep with tradition and say "I'm not into clubs anymore", but yet I have to give my two cents.
This club was pretty awesome the first time I came here over a year ago. Â The people were GREAT (which is WEIRD because at clubs you usually don't get a great crowd of people). Â The club in general is pretty awesome. Â The sound system is GREAT and the go-go dancers are super entertaining. Â I love the fact that they incorporate cirqe-de sole acrobats and showgirls every hour or so. Â So for the guys, yes there are topless girls running around on the hour. Â They were good though, not trashy at all. Â This place actually played GOOD music, not GREAT, but generally good music... (I think that's the first time I've said that about a club review).
My most recent visit though was crap... this club has gone DOWN. Â The crowd has gotten worst and snobs from every part of the world seem to have taken over VIP. Â Awesome....
I'll give this place 3 stars for the general overall ambiance. Â Good music, great setting, sound system, decent bar service (prices are overpriced of course) and great entertainment.
What do you do when you've spent the day snowboarding, you're sore and your legs have been cramping up all evening? Â Go clubbing of course! Â I was told to expect to pay $20 for cover and was happy to hear that girls were getting in for $10. Â I was only able to get one free drink in the casino. Â Maybe I should have hung out at the card tables and not the penny slots. Â Needless to say I needed a drink so I head to the bar and ordered a Adios MF to get the party started in a hurry. Â A little hint a Adios should never taste like Kool-Aid and at those prices I should have been breathing fire. Â As the night went on I figured out that the rule of thumb is beer and shots at this place. Â There's no point in ordering mixed drinks they will be over priced and watered down.
Drink in hand I make it onto the dance floor with my friends. Â The DJ went all over the place that night Juicy by Biggie, Single Ladies by Beyonce, Jump KrisKross, and even Twist n Shout. Â The floor was packed and the crowd seemed pretty diverse. Â I even met some guys at the bar from Washington that claimed they grew Washington apples! Â We had a great time, I think my friends pulled me out of there around 4 am. Â Next time I'm in Tahoe I'm definitely hitting this club again. Â I'm just going to pregame it first.
I woke up on Sunday morning with a smile on my face...
What was I dreaming of?
Hmmm.... then I look at my wrist and find the two stamps from Vex from the night before. Â that's right - I was still in Tahoe and had the best time ever at Vex.
I don't normally go to Tahoe to party - there's Vegas for that. Â But this time around, we were celebrating my brother's birthday and after a day of the boys snowboarding and the girls at the casino, we decided to party the night away at Vex. Â I was not prepared I tell you. I didn't pack a single dress or party wear for the club but they still let me in with my Ugg boots and Juicy Couture sweat outfit with a black fitted tank. This just might be OK. Â
It was a total sausage fest, tons of men and my poor husband was at home watching the pups so I felt guilty but oh well it is my brother's birthday so I might as well party the night away with them! Â
The club is huge and the crowd was awesome! Â There's a big ramp, monster truck sort of fixture in the middle of the dance floor with men and women "go go" dancers -- something I've never seen before in a club setting.
The VIP section is awesome probably one of the best I've seen and I've been to almost ever single one in Vegas. Â There's enough room to dance and love the curtains and space within each VIP section. Â
The DJ was from the Bay Area that night and since i'm from San Francisco, I was loving the music! Â We had so much fun dancing the night away. Â Oh and before I forget to mention this, they had topless dancers performing as well! Â Woo hooo! Â This club has not missed any details and loved the concept. Â I will definitely return and next time I'm bring some cute clothes to party in! Â Love this place!
This was actually a pretty sweet club. The line started forming right at 10 pm. We were actually gambling a bit beforehand so we were already at the casino, and were one of the first people in line to get in. The cover was $20 (girls and guys) and to get bottle service (7 people minimum) was $31.... what a no-brainer... of course we were gonna get bottle service, considering how much drinks would be once we got in. Although bottle service does tack on gratuity fees and any additional fees like that second bottle of Voss water was $15. Wowza. I would still recommend getting a table so that you and your party can relax in between dancing and drinking.
The club had 3 run ways and perches for the go-go dancers... it was pretty cool cuz some of the girl dancers came out topless. I mean, I'm not a dude, but I even appreciated it. =D They also had male go-go dancers. And then they had a mini Cirque du Soleilesque performance by 3 girls hanging from hoops and curtains in the ceiling. They told us not to take pictures but we snuck a few... without flash of course... not tryna blind the poor ladies up there.
They played a lot of different genres of music. Hip hop, top 40, 90's, and a few 80's songs for the old folks, lol. I didn't hear one song replayed once... which is usually unheard of at San Jose/SF clubs. Haha.
Who decided that Harrah's was the new "it" place to be on a Saturday night? Went here a couple weeks ago with my coworkers...
The guys did not get in. The girls did. The trick is to find someone in the VIP line, because the line is ridiculously around the door. There were more people in line than for black Friday at Best Buy--and that's with a 20 dollar cover charge at the end! I was going to get a drink at the bar, but it was almost 20 dollars for a long island!!! I stuck with the Grey Goose from the VIP booth (plus you can always leave the club and get free drinks in the casino).
Anyways, the music is good here. The atmosphere definitely is lavish and crazy clubby. The line was a ridiculous wait though...Even though it opens at 10:30, there is a football field length line by 10, so pregame in line or something if you are gonna get in the Good Samaritan fair way.
Fun club though. I had a blast.
This place is so close to 5 stars!
It is by far the best place to "club" in Tahoe. Too bad the line to get in is WAY too long - even if you have a booth reserved and VIP service! Also, it is pricy - but you do get what you pay for....
In side is very cool. Set up in a big circle with various dance floor areas in the middle - bars on the side and booths all around of varying sizes. For a group of 12 we had a great big booth area and bottle service. 2 big bottles, all mixers, admission for $12 great, fast service $600. I highly recommend considering a booth for 5 or more people. It's a deal and you get a lot.
The dancers are interesting on their catwalk thing and platforms - and that sheet acrobat stuff is AWESOME - I Â love it. Those girls rock. Music is a mix of popular songs and dance remixes.
$5 cover. Â Not bad. Â Especially since that was the most money I spent all night.
We walked in, and from what I happen to remember we danced a lot, met a bachelor party who gave us unlimited access to their table and their alcohol, and abused that privilege so we could procure liquor for our real guys friends.
All in all, totally bitchin evening.
Upon arrival, you have to let go of comparing it to San Francisco night life. Give it a chance, you're in Lake Tahoe for crying out loud, it's going to be different. I kept my expectations low and I had a great time.
I went on a Saturday night, if you have to choose between Friday and Saturday, I recommend going on a Saturday. There were alot of bachelorette and bachelor parties going on that weekend. Major sausage fest! Cover was $20, I don't think there's a way out of that unless you have a VIP booth. Yes the line is long, you should get there right at 10pm. Takes forever for them to search everyone. Since it's not a "free before 11pm" kind of thing, I guess it doesn't matter what time you get there but you don't want to be in line all night either.
It's pretty big inside, lots of space for you to shake your ass, but watch yourself. There were girl and guy go go dancers dancing atop that weird ladder/runway apparatus. Â Then the cirque du soleil type performers came out and were doing all this tricks via a sheet hanging from the ceiling and yes, there were topless girls that came out to dance. I think they only come out on Saturday night, so another reason for you to go on that night.
Drinks were not so cheap, $19 for a Long Island and a Red Headed Slut.
I recommend going with a bunch of friends and getting a VIP table, I like how it's set up. That way you have a place to sit down too.
Oh yea, they say there's a coat check around the corner near the restrooms but I couldn't find it. You do get in and out privileges though, so if your hotel is nearby, you can drop your shit off or drink some more and then go back to the club.
Forgot to mention wack DJ's, all 5 of them! It was weird, they were like a panel, all lined up sitting in front of a table with one laptop in front of them. They played some good hip hop but only 15 seconds of each song. Tell me why I had to hear "Livin on a Prayer" and "Don't Stop Believin" 3 times? Oh yea, because there were hella white people there.
At least they closed at 4 am, that was a plus.
Not bad at all.
I gotta give Tahoe this one. Â A club with a sense of class with a touch of naughtiness.
This club is definitely large and in charge when it comes to clubs in Tahoe. Â The club is extremely spacious when you walk in and the bar is a decent size and the bartenders seem to be very attentive.
The DJ was great, the drinks were strong and there were several attractive people in there. Â One thing that was kinda neat about the club was almost everyone in the club was from out of town. Â Almost like Vegas in a sense without the numbers. Â There was definitely plenty of space to move, but a reasonable amount of people to make the club feel like it was poppin.
Vex, even when it was Altitude implemented the scantily clad go go dancers which actually gives it a nice little element to it. Â Of course it's great eye candy for the guys, at the same time, it doesn't feel trashy so it's less offensive to the girls. Â The dancers actually go up there and dance to the beat rather than dancing like strippers who clap their butt cheeks to get tips. Â Eventually you get used to seeing them up on their little podiums and it almost just blends in with the feel of the club.
I would recommend anybody from out of town to check this place out if you're into the club scene.
When I was growing up and went to Tahoe as a kid places like Vex didn't exist..
Vex surprised me, it was a large club in Harrah's with a big space to dance, very nice VIP booth "cabanas" if you feel like going all out, a catwalk with topless dancers strutting around and a fun DJ who played Top 40 and OG mash ups (hey, you're in Tahoe... no attitude please).
Not sure if they charged cover because I went with a group of 14 girls so we were able to walk right in... and I know the following is waaay too much info, but on that same nite one of the girls brought home a boy and "slept" on the pool table. For 3 hours.
And that's why you should visit Vex, too... the same could happen to you! HAHAHA!
This is where the beautiful people of Lake Tahoe (South Shore) go to party. And well, there aren't a lot of them around. This has an LA vibe, but with a lot less people. Â There are a ton of hot dancers on the catwalk and boxes. Â
I took my boy here for his birthday, back in Sept. and the place was practically empty. The dj and music were ok- nothing too memorable. Even after 3 jager bombs, 2 cranberry vodkas and 2 redbull vodkas, I was a bit bored. I even made my semi- bf go dance with a bachelorette for entertainment. I'm sure he loved that I pimped him out.
But seriously, there's not too many clubs in Tahoe, so this your best bet. Â Hopefully when ski/boarding season starts, this place will liven up.
