Village Inn

Generous of me to give this greasy spoon three stars... The only good thing I can say about it is it's cheap. The salad bar seemed mostly fresh - at least the few vegetable items I could find that weren't from a can. The pork is terrible - the breakfasts are decent. I ate there 4 times in 3 days - it's one of the only restaurants in Allegan. That's prob the only reason they are still open.
    OK - Update - I have to admit, the fish special on Friday was really good. Some of the best fried fish I have eaten... Doesn't make up for the horrible pork chops or mediocre breakfast, but if you must go here - go on Friday and get the fish.... really yummy...

I had breakfast here this AM and will agree with others about the decor.  It is a little shabby.  Has a small salad bar for dinner.  My breakfast was greasy.  I had eggs, American fries and toast.  My eggs were passable but the American fries were greasy and I asked for medium.  My toast was half burnt and soggy with lots of margarine.  The best thing about this place is the waitress's.  They are wonderful and friendly.  Coffee keeps coming from them constantly.

A nice small town restaurant with really good burgers.

There is really nothing special about this place as far as the decor goes. It is a simple looking place that does look a bit tired. It has the usual drop down ceiling, hanging lights and fans. A small salad bar sits in the front corner but it is a one stop only salad bar. I didn't get it but my wife did and she was very happy with the selection and taste.

She also got the Philly Cheese-steak  sandwich which she raved about. I didn't have a taste as I was busy with a VERY good bacon cheese burger. They offer various sizes on the burgers and I went in the middle. I can only imagine how filling the big one is.

So to be short and sweet I give the decor a 2 star and the food a 4 star (out of 5) rating in the small restaurant category.

If I'm in the area again I will definitely stop in again.
