Village Wines is a cute little shopped tucked away in what I would consider historic Canal Winchester. After the busy week I had and the upcoming busy weekend, we all knew anything with "wine" in the title would be appropriate.
In case your wondering parking is easy. Pull in behind the restaurant and you will find multiple lots with plenty of parking. Village Wines has also made it even easier by putting a awning at their back entrance so you know exactly which door to head in.
Upon entering you will first notice the nice bar. Many people were sitting in this area at the tables against the windows or at the bar. I suspect many people just wanted to enjoy the sunshine, since all the tables in the bar area were full.
After letting them know how many we had, we were in and seated in no time. Shortly there after the waitress came over with our drinks. For wine we tried various different kinds, forgive me if I don't quite remember.
When it came to the food, everything was excellent. The appetizers, Â artichoke dip and the lettuce wraps, were both great. If I came here again I might considering ordering one of these items just as my meal, based on quality and size. And my salad, the Chicken Pesto Salad was beyond amazing! In fact everyone at the table very much enjoyed their meals. The food here all looked amazing and for each of us, it was hard to choose.
As a note, I'm taking away a star for the time it took for us to get in and out. We were with children and while they were great about getting their food out quickly, it took a very long time to get our meals out. By the time our food arrive the kids were having a hard time sitting and being quite.
Overall Village Wines is a very cute place that should I be back in the area soon, I will frequent. Their outdoor patio looks great, so that would be something I would love to try.
I have heard really good reviews about this place since before they moved to this new location, so decided it was time to give it a try. Â I had salmon and it was cooked perfectly. Â The portion was sufficient, not too little, not too much. Â The wait staff was decent, although they could have been a bit more attentive. Â It their defense, it was pretty busy that night. Â The wine selection was awesome. Â I will definitely be going back.
Review Source:Dear Village Wines,
I really really want to like this place and it's so frustrating to me that I don't. Â It's even more frustrating that the main reason I don't is due to the lack of professionalism of some of your servers and hostesses. Â I have given you my business multiple times both at your old location and at your new location (you may want to update this address on Yelp since you've been moved for several months). The restaurant itself is a great concept. Â You have decent food, the wine prices are great, the new patio is nice, and I love that it's close to home. Â However, the service is consistently horrible. Â Each time I've been there I've gone with a new attitude, thinking that maybe last time you were just having an off night. But, the wait staff and hostesses I've encountered are consistently blase, lazy and after my most recent visit I don't know that I'll be back. Â There is just no sense that a few of your staff members don't understand what good customer service should be. Â However, they are quick to give excuses when I mention an issue usually about how you are understaffed, the kitchen staff is slow, you are out of a menu item because someone didn't do what they were supposed to do, or that you are slammed even though most times several tables are vacant. Â I don't necessarily care what is happening behind the scenes and I would be more sympathetic if I didn't feel as if I were burdening the staff with my patronage every time I go there. Â It would be nice to have a cute and kitschy wine restaurant to rave about to get our friends from downtown to come out to Canal Winchester. But, right now I won't recommend this place because until your staff gets a lesson in how to treat paying customers or you work out your operational issues that make your staff seem totally overwhelmed with simple tasks, it's not worth their travels.
