I like the vibe of this place a lot more than the wine they offer. The art is always changing each month and it has nice decor and patio seating which I enjoy.
The beer selection I find to be above average for Redding, unique offerings and decent prices.
The wine list is boring and too expensive for what it is they are offering. Cline can be purchased at Raley's, nothing to go to a wine bar to pay 10 dollars a glass over. If I were giving them a rating on their wines alone I would only give a 1 or 2 star rating.
The brownie sundae is worth the money though and would be a five star rating on its own!
To say we are regulars of Vintage Wine Bar *may* be an understatement. The staff knows us all by name (including our boys, 2 and 4). Â We're here at least a couple times a month.
Things to try: always the soup. Â Best clam chowder we've had anywhere, but all of their soups are excellent and flavorful. Â The TBM appetizer is delicious, and the "cheesy pasta" appetizer is the kids' favorite (and hard for us to resist!). Â The staff will make it as a dinner portion, too. Â Always ask about the pizza of the day - they have several interesting combinations. Â The fish tacos off the regular menu are wonderful as is the Thai chicken curry (sorry, forgot the name of the dish).
If you're able to make it on a Tuesday their Taco Tuesdays are such a steal! Beer and a yummy taco for $5 or $6, in varieties from jerk chicken to fried fish. Â Also, Happy Hour prices on appetizers during the week allow you to have a "night out" without too high prices. Â Wine lovers are able to try anything they like with their "wine flights," and Alex, the owner, is knowledgeable about wines and beers and always happy to give suggestions. Â Beer lovers will find tons of interesting options on tap, and you can get a sample of anything you want before you commit.
We've never been there for their live music - gotta get kids in bed by 8 - but other reviews aren't wrong about Vintage's cool vibe with their relaxed bar, multi-sized tables and couch/chair seating areas perfect for hanging out with a glass of wine with friends.
We love this place! :) Â Give it a try. Â You won't be disappointed.
This is a wonderful wine bar in Redding, and yes it is as good as it gets for Redding. There isn't too much to go to up there but, this was a nice place to get a glass of wine with a friend. It was not too loud and they even had a live band that night. We didn't have food, but just wine and they have a big selection.
Review Source:Love this place!!!
Kit made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in the door. Service was wonderful and the food I have tried is delicious! The ambiance is comfortable. They have high and low tables, candlelight, cloth napkins. They also have LIVE MUSIC, which is a big attraction for me. Singer/Songwriters doing their original music as well as some covers, various styles. I haven't heard any I didn't like!
If there is a "cheers" in town it's Vintage. Vintage embodies what I consider to be a rapidly developing downtown vibe. Â I've frequented Vintage over the years and always feel comfortable there. Â Service has always been good, and prices are very reasonable. Â There is a constant flow of live entertainment and art. Â Clientele is friendly and diverse as is the wine selection. Â Â A place where everyone gathers to be happy and the owners know you by name (and wine preference). Â My most favorite place to hang out with friends and relax.
Review Source:I don't know about you, but when I hear the term "wine bar" it conjures up images of stuffy old bars full of senior citizens discussing the notes and body of a wine. Â But Vintage lives up to its name - it's a very antiquated type of place. Â Charming and cozy, perfectly lit, and with a very interesting wine delivery system. Â Their website states "Temperature is crucial. A one of a kind in Redding, Vintage's OZ Wine Preservation System always insures your wine is delivered at perfect temperature. No matter what your taste it's always perfect." Â Lesley states that robotic refrigerator is awesome. Â They have a great wine selection and good food (great flatbread). Â I went there for an acoustic show that draws its own set of fans, so I don't know what the crowd is usually like here, but everyone (including the staff) was very laid-back and friendly. Â Great wine bar experience, now where's the aspirin?
Review Source:love this place! casual, but classy atmosphere. approachable and knowledgeable staff. i love going in and sitting at the war and quizzing the bartender to get just the right wine. i love that they make recommendation, and 90% of the time, i enjoy the selection. one meal out of the 4 i have eaten there has been meh. the hummus and flatbread app is deliish. i usually bring guests here and have had a good experience every time.
Review Source:My husband and I love to frequent eating establishments in our community.  Tonight we tried Vintage Wine Bar.  We both chose the Beef Brochette.  This dish was described as "tender beef medallions" with creamy risotto.  The risotto was amazing, smooth, creamy, immensely flavorful.  The beef, however, was flavorless, chewy,  and difficult to eat.  Before I continue, I would also like to mention the clam chowder was delicious.  To me there was a hint of cajun flavoring.  Loved it.  Back to the beef.  Horrible.  The waitress was very pleasant and more than helpful in resolving the issue.  She said they would take the charge of my bill and she then asked if there was something else I might like.  Obviously I was starved.  I asked if she could bring some chicken.  Both of our friends had chicken dishes they liked.  Half an hour later I received a perfectly cooked, plain piece of chicken sitting on a wilted bed of something green.  I took a couple of bites and wondered what in the world  the chef was thinking to send this out to a customer!  The waitress was again very sorry and  took the dish back but not before asking if she could offer us a free dessert.  Sounded good to me.  I do need to mention bread was not served with our meals.  Toast squares were brought out on request and water glasses were not refilled without requesting it.  Overall, I'm not sure if I would return to Vintage.  More things went right than wrong, but the beef and bread, to me, are big issues.  I need to mention my husbands steak was also pretty tough and tasteless.  The waitress said people love this dish.  I truly believe, if they did receive a bad steak, that most people just won't ask for what they paid for.  Honest reviews would really help businesses to improve their services.
Review Source:Vintage is my "Cheers". Here's why: It's a classy (non-sleazy) bar that also serves great food in a beautiful setting. If you're lucky enough some evenings you can find yourself a seat on the leather couches in the corner. I can't think of a better place to visit or make new friends.
For a small, quaint venue they draw some amazing talent with bands as far as New York. We're talking quality, national, up & coming groups. They've just added monthly acoustic Sundays where the band really is the centerpiece.
Even though it's primarily a wine bar their beers are fantastic. Alex & Janis both make the best Black & Tans in town and the appetizers and clam chowder are my fav's. The bands are tasteful and upbeat and the patrons are pleasant and friendly. The wait staff are attentive, friendly and fast.
Ehh.. for a wine bar in the heart of downtown I expected better. Wine selection was nice - prices for wine slightly high. The food put on a good show on the plate but died on the palette. All salt - overcooked lamb - possibly well past it's 'use by date'. mashed potatoes cold and again way over salted. Vegetables way greasy for a dinner side.
Won't eat there again but may stop in for some music.
Cute wine bar with good music, nice ambience, and tasty food on the corner of Market and Sacramento. Â My boyfriend and I came on a Friday in February around 8:30/9:00 and the place was full. Â After a short wait, we were able to score a table in the back near a lovely water fountain. Â There was live music -- Citizen Cope sounding man with a guy playing bass -- that was quite enjoyable. Â
We drank two delicious wine tasting flights and split the cheese and fruit appetizer that could have fed four people. Â It was a romantic and relaxing time. Â I liked the fact that the service was smooth. Â We never felt rushed and it wasn't the kind of wine bar where you feel uncomfortable if you don't know what you're doing.
Definitely going back.
Dropped in here on a Saturday night while visiting Redding. Just like one of the other reviews said...a little depressing that there were only 6 of us in there. What's up with that??? The food and wine were very good, the art was great, and there was free live music (a very good folk singer from our own hometown - San Diego)...is this place just too classy for Redding or what? Was it because the air is clear, there are no spittoons, and there isn't some guy twanging on a gee-tar??? Come on locals...give this place some much deserved business!
Review Source:We were there on a Friday night and it was a little depressing, just a few people in the place and a sad looking DJ spinning for no one. :(
Nonetheless the bartender was very helpful and friendly and they have a decent wine selection. Â I'd give this 5 stars if there was a little more ambience and I hope that people continue to check this place out because it seems like it has the potential to be a really fun hangout.
I kind of like Vintage Wine Bar, and wanted to give the place four stars, but Teacher Lady and I ate there last night and there were a few wrinkles that kept me from fully enjoying the experience.
First of all, we ordered four small plates, which we planned to share. Â The Caesar salad alone was big enough to feed both of us; none of the plates were small. Â Even the spicy ahi tartare appetizer was a meal in itself.
Secondly, we ordered two cold dishes and two hot dishes. Â It's just a given, when you're ordering this way, that you don't want all the dishes delivered at once. Â Right? Â So our waiter comes out with the first two cold dishes and says, "The way our kitchen works, all the plates come out at once. Â Is that okay?" Â
No.
Uh uh, it's not okay. Â It's not okay for you to cough up a line about how your kitchen works, offered as something of an apology as you gaze at your shoes. Â Clearly, you miscommunicated with your kitchen. Â Don't act like it's the normal course for you to have to apologize for dumping the whole order on the table at once. Â I call bullshit.
And on top of that, the "small plates" are full-sized plates, so we're sitting there with four big-ass plates in front of us, looking like a pair of gluttons at Lardtown Buffet.
But most of the food was good, as was the earthy Oregon pinot. Â I recommend the eggplant fritters.
I really like this place.
Their food is really good. Their wine list has a fair selection. The atmosphere and local art is great. They have music on some nights which is nice. And overall I think it's a nice place for a nice evening.
It's fun to sit at the bar, or at a table. Their wine flights are fun to try, and I also like that you can order wines by the glass in tasting size, or a regular glass pour.
It is a wonderful addition to downtown Redding. I hope that people check it out so they can continue to be in business.
While wine bars are apparently becoming passe, I think that it is a nice addition to the revitalization of downtown Redding. Â There aren't many upscale places to drink in Redding, and while Vintage doesn't have any extraordinary wines on their menu, and the food is really only decent, it does fill a needed niche.
