Agree with Jared S. that playing here is sad, as this course is clearly on the decline. Â It is clear to me that management does not take course maintenance seriously, judging by the state of the clubhouse, and the the fact that the grass off the fairway had not been mowed in weeks. Â This is unfortunate, since the layout is beautiful, and the course has lots of potential. Â Judging by the fact that the course was practically empty on a beautiful saturday afternoon, others have avoided the course for the reasons i noted above.
I hope things change there, but until i hear otherwise i will not be playing or recommending Wakefield Valley
This is sad because this course has so much potential. A great layout with some beautiful holes, but the course maintenance left a lot to be desired. Much of the course hadn't been mowed in weeks. If you hit your ball anywhere off the fairway then be prepared to lose it or look forever. The first cut of rough was over 6 inches high. We even had to look for a couple balls in the fairway as it was cut to the height of the first cut of rough at most courses. The sand was rock hard and like playing off a cart path. The lawns of the homes that back up to the course were far better maintained than the course itself.
This course has so much potential. I hope someone else buys it or takes over the management. I would pay 20 bucks more to play this course if it was in good shape. It's no wonder there was hardly anyone there on a perfect Friday afternoon.
