Eh. Small town bar and grill. Could of been great I suppose. Prime rib was ok. Oriental salad was a dud. Waitress seemed nice but the atmosphere kinda sucked. Maybe you gotta be a local.

I'd like to give a 3 for being indifferent. But a 2 is more accurate.

Taco Tuesday, the best part of these bad tacos was that they were $0.50 each. I got exactly what I paid for. Store bought hard taco shells and ground beef that didn't make a dent in filling the taco shell. I only got 2, thankfully.

I'm working in the area and decided to take a lunch at Wally's. I ate what I was served because I had company with me.

My company ordered a cold sandwich with cottage cheese as the side. The cottage cheese was gelatinous. If that is even possible with cottage cheese, that's what it is. He attempted to mask the flavor of it, which was ill, with pepper. There was no saving it.

I'm sure Wally's is fantastic on game night, the amount of drought beer was nice to see. I may be back to only have a beer.

It is not only Europe and Asia that have famous regional cuisines. The United States, too, has regional cuisines. In some cases, "Ya gotta have been there."  If you have not been there - grown up there or lived there for many years - some regional cuisines may conflict with your preconceptions of what cuisines should be. (Ya might not like it!)  So let's take a look at Nebraska. A few things to keep in mind when evaluating eastern Nebraska cuisine are the German, Czech, Polish and Swedish influences. Another is the distance between the many small farm-towns and major distribution centers.  My evaluation of Nebraska farm town businesses recognizes those and other unique aspects of prairie states culture.  However, I also recognize that for those accustomed to deeper flavors or a broader flavor spectrum, the net result may be disappointing, and last until improved by judicious experience.

Wally's Sports Bar is spacious, orderly, clean. There are pool tables and plenty of tv screens. You can choose a booth or table, or sit at the bar.

We ordered the "burnt ends with garlic potatoes and baked beans." The sauce on the burnt ends was Sweet Baby Ray's. The burnt ends themselves, cooked for three hours, were tender and tasty. The potatoes were seasoned with a garlic butter which I believe was commercially produced. The baked beans, made from scratch, were good.

The Wally Burger included raw red onions which I, unlike some judgmental Food Network stars, do enjoy with some foods, such as American Hamburgers. The meat was flavored either with actual smoke or with liquid smoke. However, the lettuce and tomato left a little to be desired. Cholula and Tabasco were at each booth and table.  I declined the mustard and ketchup that was offered; I carry certain sauces that I sometimes use for flavoring or to counter the dryness of some dishes we encounter.  The soda, finally a place that puts only a moderate amount of ice in the tumbler. So many places fill your tumbler with ice before adding the soda, you get a dollar's worth of ice and a nickel's worth of soda. I got my money's worth of soda, this time, at Wally's, yet with enough ice to keep it cold.

Wally's may have the best food service in Fairbury. The waitress was moderately knowledgeable about the menu, but did have to refer to the chef in order to answer one of our questions.
