    Great Prices! Great Service!
Food was OK. I will go get a second opinion though. At those prices, you won't go broke trying everything.

Very cheap sushi and sake. Still very good though.

I've never been disappointed at Wasabi's.  It's not about the atmosphere here; it's about fresh Japanese food in a small Indiana town.  The prices are fantastic.  If you're going out to eat for a show, don't bother.  But if you want good food at good prices, give it a try!

I don't think we could've been more disappointed. In fact we walked to the car, looked at each other and said "fail." A restaurant critic would rip this place apart. It never helps things when you have bad service and this was one of the worst servers I've seen in a while. We always tip 20% and it was all we could do to leave 10%. I mean he literally came to the table twice maybe three times at best. He never checked on us, filled drinks or anything, it was sad. We've eaten a lot of sushi and I'm pretty sure you can pick up better sushi at the kroger deli then here. We also got the stir fry which was very bland and came with two sauces that you know the server didn't inform us what they were but they weren't good either. It also came with soup that tasted like it was out of a can. Now the salad was just lettuce with a hint of tomato, but it did have decent ginger dressing. It also came with fried rice and I think panda express could've topped this fried rice. We would've given the server some respectful feedback but again he never came back. It's sad because Goshen needs a place like this and I think they have potential but if there is a manager he has a lot of work to do. I would check out stirred in Elkhart if you are reading this. That place is awesome!!

Goshen, Indiana: Not exactly known for its Japanese food.

I've had many a sushi roll and hibachi dinner, so while I'm no expert, I would consider myself knowledgeable. I was in town visiting my mom, and here we ended up for dinner.

They do have the traditional hibachi dinners on the menu -- complete with soup, salad, fried rice and choice of protein with veg -- but there's only one little table next to the sushi bar where you can actually watch the food get cooked. No big show for most of the customers.

Which is, combined with its general location of Amish Country, Indiana, probably why the prices are half what you would pay in the Chicago area.

Yep. Half. My onion soup + lackluster salad (but yummy dressing) + fried rice with veggies + hibachi chicken was about $9.

The chicken was cooked well, tender and flavorful, the rice was solid, onion soup was a little low on the onion but tasty...

I also ordered a spicy yellowtail roll and my mom's companion got shrimp shumai, I snagged one. The roll was pretty good -- jam-packed with yellowtail and nothing else, really -- and the shumai was flavorful.

Tons of food. Service was pretty good. This is a weird location and not the slightly-nicer dining experience you might expect from a big city, but it's definitely nice to have something a little different available. Kudos for moving away from bland family restaurants, Goshen.

My husband and I have eaten at Wasabi twice now and we were delighted by the food and the service. We had resigned our selves to going to Ft. Wayne or SB for good sushi but now we have Wasabi. The prices were great and the food was some of the best sushi I have had any where and I have had sushi in some pretty expensive restaurants. The must try is the Orange Dragon Roll and the Spicy Yellowtail!

Enjoyed this sushi restaurant in an unassuming spot in...Goshen, IN? Run by Asians, the restaurant prepares sushi and some standard teriyaki dishes. We sampled several rolls that were pretty decent. Service was a little slow when we were there, and a minor complaint is that we were offered refills on tea, and then didn't realize that they would later charge us for the second pour. The interior is clean and pleasant with several tables.

This was our first trip so we wanted to try as much as we could.
We wanted to take our time and go over the menu, but our server was determined to get something going so came back every minute or so to 'check'. This made us a little crazy as well as feeling very rushed.

We started with the appetizers: tempura shrimp and veggies, edamame and crab Rangoon.  The edamame was absolutely forgettable.  Skip it.  Really.  The tempura was steamy hot and tender, wonderfully flaky and delicious.  The sauces lacked much flavor on every front (as did the onion soup that came with our meals). The crab Rangoon was probably the very best I had ever tasted.  I would honestly drive to just have that.  Amazingly light and tender and full of flavor.  It came quickly, followed only moments later by our salads and soup that were to come with dinner.  Again, rushed and very crowded on the tiny tables.

Dinner itself consisted of The Wasabi Special (a hibachi combination), Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura and a Wasabi Special Roll.  All came right after we had started our appetizers and had only a bite of our salad, leaving everything to sit and get cold.  Very, very rushed!

That said, hubby liked his Wasabi special, ate every bite, except the one shrimp and piece of broccoli he shared with me.  (it was delicious!). The shrimp and vegetable tempura was a larger version on the appetizer we had gotten.  It would have been nice to have had that clarified by our server.   We would have done something else.  But for me, the shining dish is the Wasabi special roll.  Delicious with a tiny  spicy bite (PLEASE add more flavor to your Wasabi and sauces, and much more heat!)  crunchy and delicate.  I would eat it every day.
I'm afraid they are catering to a Midwestern audience here, which could cost them, as well as cramming our tables full much, much too quickly.  That said, I would go back over and over for the Rangoon and Wasabi Roll.  All leftovers came home, but I would suggest eating it fresh.  We over ordered to try bits of everything.

Our server was very sweet and had a misguided sense of urgency, but tried very hard.  I assume she is just inexperienced.
If you're close by, go!  Let's try to keep this little gem around, something original is so rare!

Have been to Wasabi 5 times.  It is not Kelly Jay's Next Door and that's ok because it  is Good Sushi offered at affordable prices to Sample and Enjoy. It's an everday persons place that should be tried.

I have had their Sushi, Sashimi, and special rolls , All Good
Less impressed with their Steakhouse Entrees but I would need Benihana's to get excited.

    All a Good Value

Regrets - its out of the Mainstream Area but with the moderate traffic I saw of customers are finding them and the food must be the key

I have since returned to Wasabi at least twice now and have not been disappointed yet.  I cannot speak for the hibachi grill yet, though I keep seeing and smelling good things from it.

The sushi is still good, and though it's not super fancy, it's still flavorful and not going to break the bank.  Example being that a person can order 2 6-piece rolls for seven dollars approximately and have plenty to eat.

I look forward to trying the hibachi next.

Finally, Goshen has a couple restaurants that offer sushi! I've been here twice and had take-out once. The place is small so sometimes, weekends are packed and reservations may be needed.  The last time I was there I overheard another customer comparing it to Hanayori. No, they don't cook the food in front of you, but the hibachi grill (with up to 2 cooks) and sushi bar is on display and can be seen as soon as you walk in. No there is no egg yolk sauce (although I guess I've never asked). Appetizers are cheap but on the smaller portion. We didn't think the amount was shareable, so we ordered more than 3 apps.  The prices of hibachi grill items and combinations are fairly inexpensive compared to Mishawaka restaurants. My friend's order was mixed up one time but I think it may be due to language barrier from the young waiter.  I love this place because it satisfies my "Hanayori" cravings inexpensively, without all the frills and the 45 minute drive.

I was excited to hear that a Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant opened in Goshen. After three visits, I can say that so far it's doing a great job. While I'm not a sushi connoisseur, I have liked what I've tried. The restaurant will definitely be one of my favorites in the area.
