I came here for a casual lunch on a beautiful day where sitting close to the water after already traveling this far out in Long Island was necessary. The breeze, the boats, the water, the company, a friendly enough waitress and decent food won me over.
We were in the area for the day and as I searched for places to eat right by the water, I didn't find many options surprisingly. Perhaps I just didn't know exactly where to look. Nonetheless, for that alone Water's Edge won for us. Location, location, location!
There were 3 of us. We ordered the grilled chicken/mixed vegetables/rice, the pan fried tilapia/mixed vegetables/rice and the fish&chips. We also had the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. Everyone was content but not overwhelmed. I found the prices to be extremely reasonable and the cocktails were tasty. The selection of seafood felt somewhat limited although we were right along the water. We were even celebrating a birthday and the staff came out to sing happy birthday. Definitely a nice, friendly, casual place.
I wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this place since in general it's really far for me, but if in the area on a beautiful day- absolutely. There are a few skydiving business in the closeby vicinity, so if you're looking for food and a drink afterwards, I would definitely recommend this place.
We were a party of 6 on Sunday night. There was a graduation party going on so we ate outside which was fine- pretty locale and nice weather. The hostess neglected to tell us there was a bout a 45 min-hour delay in the kitchen. We only found that out from the waitress in the midst of a long and drawn out dinner. The drinks came out a few at a time and very slowly at that. We asked for water and eventually  got a pitcher but no glasses. Then we waited for quite a bit for the glasses. 3 of us ordered the stuffed artichoke. One looked a regular size, one was half an artichoke and the other had most of the outer leaves missing. The little bit or artichoke we had was tasty though. We had an extremely long wait until entrees came out. There was nothing King  about the King crab legs. There were 3 small legs on a bed of soupy mashed potatoes. Although the salmon was tasty it was cold. All in all the service was poor, the food was mediocre to poor. for the quality of the food and the serving size, the prices are way out of line. It's such a pretty place in an ideal location- I hope the owners rethink the way they run their restaurant.
Review Source:I've heard this location has gone through many unsuccessful iterations. Â I hope the current crew find a way to stick around, because there are many good things going on here.
A few Fridays ago, the hubs and I sat at the bar for a beer and glass of wine. Â The happy hour prices are good, and beer is typically $5 at any time. Â There's a spacious, wide bar, separated by a few steps from the dining room. Â We perused a menu and were surprised that many of the restaurant's dishes sounded delicious (and we weren't even hungry), and that the prices indicated sophisticated, high-quality ingredients.
Last week we heard Long Island Restaurant Week was going on, and it seemed like a good opportunity to try out many dishes without spending a bundle. Â For $20 each, we got four courses: an excellent clam chowder with bacon and al dente vegetables, mesclun salad nicely dressed, deep-fried artichoke hearts with lemon and parmesan for me and calamari with dense cornmeal breading and sun-dried tomato salad for him, and lobster ravoili with creamy pesto for me and flounder smothered in roasted garlic with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies for him. Â Everything tasted very good, and was presented nicely.
Our waiter was pleasant, and while I appreciated the leisurely pace of the meal, there was a big gap between our salad and appetizer courses -- an extra five minutes before dishes were cleared, then an extra ten minutes before the appetizers came out. Â It did not seem that other tables experienced delays; it's not a big deal, but odd that the waiter didn't notice or mention it. Â It was a bit on the early side, about 5:30 when we came in, but there were about five other tables, so the kitchen was up and running.
I look forward to coming back, but I don't think I'll splurge on a multi-course meal at full price. Â I like the casual setting and lovely water views, but the decor is so summery, it seems out of line with the somewhat high prices. Â If there were some less expensive menu items, or perhaps more formal upholstery and less white coloring, things would jibe more psychologically. Â But I'm very happy a good full service restaurant is just down the street from my house. Â I'm also looking forward to the outdoor beachy area for beers once it gets warmer.
Second time here in the past 3 months. Â They were just finishing up a wedding so the place was pretty busy. We sat at the bar for dinner. Had to do a little prodding to get meal service but once we were on the radar screen the food and service was great. Calamari appetizer was large and so tender. Warm spinach salad with bacon was great. Â Entres were Pumpkin raviolis in a super pumpkin sauce and the raspberry duck was done perfect. Topped it off with a serving or Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Excellent choice for a great meal....
Review Source:i am a local East Moriches resident for 20+ years, and I all so own a restaurant on the North Shore, a very quaint Italian Bistro.
I would never eat here again...no music in the  dining room..a thursday  night.,  no visable  owners or management.( we are on sight 6 + nights a week)  Lobster tails were tasteless, fried calamari tasteless, If you call them Rice balls them make sure they re rice balls, not Hush Puppies a Dicarlo frozen food, product!!!!! Â
Servie was sub par, again present management makes a huge difference  I managed a restaurant in SH for 6 years!!!
176.00 not including tip...not likely to go back////your prices need to reflect good food..
Food was very good some interesting dishes to choose from. Prices are fair to expensive.
I gave it a 3 because the food was very good. However, I am big into atmosphere and this place was not cozy. I was waiting for Tubbs and Crockett to come in for drink after there latest drug raid. This place has a great location right on the bay, but I think the owners got it wrong with the decor.
Definitely more of an "entree" kind of place, not a pub food after boating  stop. Though rumor is they are trying for  bands and such for the outdoor Tiki bar. I might check that out this summer.
The renovation of this newly opened restaurant is well done. Â It is obvious that the owners put alot of money into the renovation from the dinnerware to the menu covers and the beautifully built tiki bar. Â The location itself is the destination, with the right menu this place could be a hit.
We came for lunch for some appetizers and salads. Â It was apparent that the dishes were not home made from the frozen coconut shrimp (that came to our table raw), marmalade that you would expect to get right out of the jar, Ken's blue cheese dressing and poached canned pears. Â Don't get me wrong the dishes were nicely presented and with quality fresh ingredients would be delicious. Â I hope the chef revisits this for next season.
As for the service, untrained.
We also stopped by one evening to have some drinks with friends. Â My husband had a cocktail that had only a splash of liquor leaving his cocktail clear. Â It actually was quite humerous. Â I could only think that their rocks glasses are too large for their too small of a pour. Â I couldn't go wrong with my beer.
Would I be back? Probably for a beer at the tiki bar.
