On a warm summer afternoon, we arrived by boat, just in time to avoid a thunder storm. We sat outside. 5 fans + 2 ceiling fans made it really inviting for a cold beer. Two large screen TVs with sports on, Â made it even better. The service is prompt fast and super friendly. The food is very good. Â I'm leaving tips on that section.
The map on Yelp shows the restaurant at a different site. That needs fixing. We just found it because we were at the Gasparilla marina. I will be back.
Fair price, really good service, good food. The prices were what to expect from a run of the mill island joint. I has the salmon with cajun spice, which was not all that spicy and more fishy than anything. But the west side I can see how something super spicy would not be welcome. My wife had a philly and you cant really mess that up. Would i go back? Most likely not, too many other places to try.
Review Source:Who doesn't love having lunch next to the water? Of course, you're next to a marina versus the actual ocean, but you can't hold it against this laidback eatery. Food is what I call "waterside bar food", the standard sandwiches but everything you want by the water thrown in. I was in a group of five for Sunday lunch and we all split two dozen raw oysters and peel and eat shrimp. I had the Red Fish sandwich, Cajun style with fries. Cajun was not spicy, reminded me more of how I usually order a fish sandwich, which is "lightly blackened". If you're looking for a kick, try having it cooked Jerk style. The boyfriend highly recommended it. The only disappointments is my mojitos were too sugary and tasted like they had a bit too much club soda in it and our server didn't make the rounds as often as we would have liked (there was a total of 4 tables filled on the patio at that time).
If I make it back to Little Gasparilla, I'd swing back in for a bite. Hopefully early enough for breakfast next time!
This place is a bar. It has live bands on different days of the week and it serves food, but first and foremost, it is a bar. This really doesn't surprise me and it shouldn't surprise anyone else. It is located at a marina and it is located in an area of retirement. And in case you didn't know, boaters, retirees, and retirees that boat are all HEAVY drinkers. At least they seam like heavy drinkers to me since I don't drink at all. On the menu:
1st Visit
Crab chowder
Chicken wings hot
Blackened grouper sandwich with fries
2nd Visit
Pulled pork sandwich with fries
Potato chips
Hot Wings
Out of all of the items I get here, I always get the chicken wings. They are always passable and I don't leave wondering "Why did I eat here again?" I do need to get the hottest every time to get a modicum of flavor. If I need more than just wings, then I will get the blackened grouper sandwich and just not eat the bread.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon. We were Anglers Club (the condo's behind the Marina). Our first night in, my husband said that he saw the sign for the bar and he wanted to check it out. We went and had a GREAT time! We ended up coming to Waterside another 4 nights on our honeymoon! The food was delicious (breakfast too!) Everyone is friendly, fast service and it's a great time. Very relaxing place to go, have a beer and talk with some new people. I highly recommend Waterside!
