Seafood, steak, and Chinese food! What an odd but fitting combination.
While visiting my sister's local hygiene school, I came here with her and two of her classmates. They initially did not want to come to this restaurant because they had eaten here so often due to the vast amount of choices on the menu, but I had never tried this restaurant before, so they agreed to eat here once again. According to them, they liked all the food they've ever tried here, which was a good sign to me.
The restaurant is relatively large. We came here during lunch time and I assumed most customers were locals. They were mostly hard working and rugged men. I felt a little out of place.
The decor is a little old. They are in need of a little paint job. I recognized the Cambodian art work and pictures of the Angkor Wat on the walls. I then understood why Chinese food was listed on the outside because the owners are Asian.
As for food, I ordered a seafood platter that had fried fish, hush puppies, scallops, and something else fried that I cannot recall at the moment. It was somewhat salty as I expect fried seafood to be, but it was good and very filling. Totally worth the $11 price tag.
The people who worked here were very nice. We were waited on by a pleasant Asian man who had a sly smile and quiet voice.
I would definitely give this local business another visit if I was ever in Wharton.
