This is my "go to" place any time I am in Georgetown. Lunch today was nothing less than perfect! The service is always first rate. Â Menu is full unique and fresh twists on some old favorites that I always find delicious. They have a fairly large menu that offers something to please every taste. There are some simple burgers as well as some exotic and adventurous choices. One of my favorite lunches is the smoked duck salad. The menu is full of so many tasty choices it can sometimes be difficult to decide. You should definitely leave room for dessert...I promise it will be worth the extra calories (I usually share the dessert, the portions are generous).
Review Source:I went to school just down the street and we had brunch here every Sunday morning. The Mimosas (and Poinsettias) are my personal favorite. Bill, the owner, is a great guy and really looks out for his customers. Everyone who works there is friendly and efficient. Some of my fondest memories happened here :)
Review Source:Came here on a Friday night. Â Service seemed a little touch and go at times but we got taken care of overall. Â Maybe its because we were sitting in the bar section, perhaps it doesn't receive as much attention?
This was my first time here and I was very impressed with what I ordered: Â the Oak Grilled Jumbo Sea Scallops Alfredo(that's a mouthful) Â
The menu describes it was being "infused" with tuna, salmon, and shrimp- Â what this means is that your noodles will have a generous distribution of all three seafoods within it. Â I was pleasantly surprised by this and every bit was as sweet and outstanding as the scallops. Â Wherever I go I often hesitate to pay any more than 15-16 for an entree but this was $18 well spent. Â There was plenty for me to take home and enjoy later.
Definitely looking forward to my next visit.
First time, out of dozens, that I had poor service. At first it was OK but our meals came out then our soup. Even then water and coke refills were slow. The place was not that busy.
The food itself was very good. Same quality I expect from Wildfire. No issue there. I hope today was the exception and not a new trend for service.
Love the atmosphere of the restaurant
Our server was friendly and attentive.
No butter with the bread?? So I asked and the response was, "Butter is only reserved for cooking", so instead I am served margarine. I would expect higher quality from a place like this.
My burger was delicious though a little overcooked.
I would come back again
I had heard such wonderful things about this restaurant that I had to try it. My wife and I decided to go on a Thursday because we knew it wouldn't be too crowded and the food would be very fresh. I was severely let down. Maybe I expected too much from this place but it just didn't deliver for me. The facade of the building is absolutely stunning set in old Georgetown. As you walk in there is a beautiful bar room to the right and a greeting stand at the end if the main corridor. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and were seated in a very cramped booth. The restaurant architecture inside is just as pleasing to the eye as the outside. Our server was a very friendly and knowledgable young lady who did a great job taking care of us. That is where it all came crashing down for me. I am a sucker for bone-in rib eyes so when I saw it on the menu I knew exactly what I was ordering. My wife, being the adventurous type she is, decided to finally try Bison. Our meal came out in a timely fashion but the second I tried to cut my steak I knew I was in for a struggle. Rib eye, being the fattiest cut, is not usually a difficult steak to cut. I needed a diamond tipped table saw to cut through the connective tissue that was all over the place. The flavor was ok but it was due to the Demi they slathered on the top. Note: if you are a half competent chef/cook then you do not need Demi to make your steaks taste good. The potatoes served with the dish were so riddled with pecans and peppers that I couldn't tell if I was eating potatoes or not...and I'm Irish, we love our spuds. My wife's Bison strip was cooked perfectly but lacked any true flavor. I was very underwhelmed with the entire main course. Dessert was another shambles all together. We chose the Bananas Wildfire, a bastardized version of the classic New Orleans favorite and in my opinion the best thing since the cure for polio. The bananas were friend (very greasy) and served with chocolate and vanilla ice cream as well as candied nuts. This was all served in a caramelized waffle shell that had been rendered a sticky mess by not being stored in a dry sealed container to keep the humidity away. All in all the high points in our experience were the front staff, the building and putting that restaurant in our rear view mirror. I might consider trying the restaurant again if I knew it would be better but I don't see that happening soon. It's a shame, it could be so much better.
Review Source:Sit in the bar, order the bar food. Great happy hour. Best burgers in town. And two words: CHICKEN NACHOS. They are out of this world. My favorite thing to eat in Georgetown.
But when I'm feeling "lighter," the southwestern Caesar salad with chicken is wonderful, as are their sandwiches.
The service in the bar is great, as is the atmosphere. The girls are so helpful and nice, they will accommodate to whatever you might want. I wanted a Chelada after a wine event in downtown Georgetown to "soothe my wine tummy," and even though they did not serve that or even know what it was, they helped me out.
We come to wildfire a couple of times a month for happy hour and supper. We love this place, as do all of the locals.
Really wonderful find in downtown Georgetown. Â
The chicken tamale was terrific, deconstructed, different and a real culinary treat. Â Salmon is nicely prepared, simple and healthy.
Try the Posole, French Onion and Tortilla soups. Â All home made and really good.
Friendly service. Â The bar area is a better choice for dining, imoho, but food and service are great anywhere in the place.
I met a few colleagues for dinner here a few nights ago. Initially, I was impressed with the menu & wine selection. I was really happy to see that they offered, (my favorite), Bogle Petite Syrah by the glass. The atmosphere was pretty cool and not very loud. The menu had a really nice blend of game and traditional offerings. We started with the duck quesadillas and grilled scallops for an appetizer. The scallops were very nice, but the duck quesadilla was a little too rubbery and served sort of sloppy IMO. For the entrée, I ordered the elk tenderloin.  I've learned not to trust the cook, so I've been ordering my steaks rare b/c these guys almost always overcook my steaks. Good thing I asked for rare, b/c the tenderloin was over cooked to med-rare. It was a little disappointed that it didn't have enough seasoning on it. Just a little kosher salt and pepper would make a world of difference. Anyhow, I'd come back again and try another plate next time I'm in Georgetown.
Review Source:Actually, this is a 4 1/2 rating. Â
Went on a Thursday night a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice. Â Could have used a little dimmer lighting and lowering the music, to be more romantic but the general atmosphere and food were quite good.
My husband had the onion soup which was good and I had the spinach salad, which was good but could have used more dressing. Â I thought there would be large chunks of applewood bacon on top but it was chopped up in the dressing, which was a little disappointing.
My husband had the elk tenderloin and he liked it but when he tasted my bone-in cowboy ribeye, he felt he would have preferred that. The tomato chutney with the elk was too sweet, for our taste, anyway. Â The ribeye was well worth the $$ and was done medium rare, just as I like it. Â The mashed potatoes were good and the green beans were done nicely but nothing special.
Eric was our server and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. Â We plan on celebrating our anniversary on Friday there and hope for a memorable meal.
I Took my wife here this year for our Anniversary. In a word "classy" The food was great and the atmophere was romantic. The restaurant sit in the center of old Downtown, Georgetown and the dinning room view complements the history of the city. The service was outstanding and the entire experience was suprisingly affordable.
Review Source:I wanted so badly for my experience to be better.  I came here based off previous reviews and really looked forward to the meal.  Alas, I think I simply chose poorly on some items.  That being said, it's not going to stop me from coming back - I'll just pick something else and hope it will be a better culinary experience since many previous diners have said otherwise. The Duck Quesadillas were pretty good.  I had the Flame Kissed Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp, which alas, did not turn out well.  The shrimp was fine, but the bacon that was wrapped around it was so gristly and fatty and tasted like fuel that it pretty much ruined my meal.  Because I couldn't get through the soft fatty bacon, I couldn't get to the shrimp that was actually pretty good (if you can get through the fatty bacon).  Beyond that, my husband enjoyed his meal.  Service was courteous and consistent.  This past meal experience won't dissuade me from coming back though.  Their menu seems innovative enough.  Just need to grab my cajones and go for their more exotic dishes one day. The decor and ambience were really quite nice.  It's definitely a nice place for a slightly fancier evening for a night out on the town  square.
Review Source:I had eaten here before a few years ago and gave it another try in our recent visit to Georgetown. Â Overall, I found the food substandard for what I expect when paying in the upper teens for an entree. Â Dinner started with butter and bread. Â I was hungry and was eager to have an appetizer. Â Well, the rolls seemed like they were left over from some they made at least a couple of days ago. Â The bread was dry and was tasteless. Â For my main course, I had the Chorizo Stuffed Grilled Pork Tenderloin based on the waiters recommendation for a good pork dish. Â The food came to the table lukewarm to room temperature and overall I found the dish uninspiring. Â On the plus side, the meat and vegetables were cooked to the appropriate levels which did make it slightly better. Â I don't plan on eating here again.
PS: Â I asked the waiter about a wine and he described it as both dry and sweet. Â How can that be? Â He did bring a sample -- it was dry.
My review is for true Foodies:
Raspberry Ice Tea: 5 stars, but ask for a glass of water as well because it's filling.
Mango Ice Tea: 4 stars.
Hot Bread: 4 stars
Spinach and Artichoke Dip: 3 stars- mixed reviews/thoughts- good, but bland- too much cream cheese flavor.
Shrimp Caesar: excellent! 5 stars.
French fries: 5 stars- unique and outstanding!
Texas Star Cobb Salad: 4 stars- lots of grilled chicken on top.
Trout Special: 5 stars- outstanding!
Texas chicken pecan crusted salad: 3 stars - chicken was dry.
Monterey Chicken Wrap: 4 stars- messy, but very tasty- it came with chips, but I requested French fries not knowing that there was a charge for them, but with the burgers there was no charge. The wraps are served with just chips. Upgrade to French Fries--well worth it!
Ambiance: 3.5 stars
Popped in on a rainy Wednesday night and the place was pretty busy but we got a seat right away. Â It was our first time there.
A very nice waiter gave us excellent service and advice on the menu, very honest and helpful.
The menu had unique dishes and the food had unique flavors and was excellent! I recommend the grilled banana dessert!
We will be back!
A lovely little gem in the middle of Georgetown!
We were looking for a place to stop in for lunch and found Wildfire on Yelp. True to their word, Yelp reviewers did not steer us wrong. We were a little late for lunch, so the place was really quiet - in fact there was only one other table being served while we were there. That provided for a nice quiet lunch and pretty fantastic service.
We got the pureed raspberry iced tea - best infused iced tea I've probably every had, and regular iced tea for our drinks. We were promptly brought bread, which was nicely crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. My boyfriend had a cup of the green chile posole soup which was surprisingly good. For our entrees, we had Macadamian Jumbo Shrimp with Mango-Yellow Tomato Cocktail Sauce, (which was excellently breaded and the mango sauce was delightful), and the Grilled Monterey Chicken Bacon & Avocado with Artichoke Tapenade on a Ciabatta Bun and wedge fries. While this burger was amazingly good, and one of the prettiest presented burgers I've ever had, it was SO messy that it was hard to eat.
The atmosphere was nice - with two separate dining rooms, and a separate area for the bar, and they were still nicely decorated for Christmas. They had a nice combination of booths and tables, and half-booth-half-table options.
All in all, we really liked this place and had a great experience here. The prices for lunch were incredibly reasonable and because it was the middle of the day, we found nearby parking easily. If we ever find ourselves in Georgetown again, I'm pretty sure we'll be coming back!
Took a friend here for her birthday several weeks ago and wish we'd gone to McDonald's. There, you actually get a "Happy Meal". Â All the employees seemed depressed and distracted. Â No smiles. Â No real greeting. Â Just walked us to a booth and handed us menus without a word. Â
My smallish $10 salad looked more like a dinner salad than a meal salad. The dressing did not taste fresh and no one offered tea refills. On a Saturday, this restaurant should be hoppin'. Â It was half empty at high noon. Needless to say, we expected more for our celebratory experience.
I hadn't eaten here since I was in college 8 years ago, until just the other day. The Reuben Sandwich I had was fantastic! All the other restaurants in a 150 mile radius couldn't compare, and I've had lots of Reubens. Every single ingredient was perfectly wonderful (and plentiful). There were a lot of other options on the menu that I intend to start trying. The service and ambience is wonderful too. Come see for yourself!
Review Source:Hmmmm... maybe a 1 star is too high. Anyhow..... the one star IS ONLY FOR SERVICE that was provided by the rude, nasty, small thinking, short talking, ill mannered manager, Jo. BUT I am fair, so I plan to talk to the manager and actually eat at the restaurant and will consider revising my post. Jo was so rude, I never even got to the point of eating.
Hopefully more to come with a happier posting.
Wildfire
I'm often asked where the perfect date spot is...I simply answer the Wildfire on the square in Georgetown. I suppose an explanation is in order since I live in Austin, and I'll get a few looks for that answer, but being just a short drive north of downtown and 15 min north of the Domain it gives a unique opportunity to actually get to know the person you are out with.
The menu (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wildfiretexas.com%2F&s=afbb1eff5539530a5eb7ca884dfdf8b198444531f86ae48973160264fd34908a" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.wildfiretexas…</a>) is full of really well prepared Texas fare items like the Cajun Spiced Elgin Sausage & Crawfish Stuffed Chicken to the 16 oz Bone-in Cowboy Ribeye and some real American items like the Oak Fired Elk Tenderloin and the 12 oz American Bison Strip Loin. The food is the star of show but I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I love the bar or "Red" room and the class and charm of this hidden gem has only grown and deepened since first opening in 1997.
Bill Cox, owner, is actually still involved in the day to day operations and you may mistake him for the host, server, manager or even busser from time to time, and his hands on approach has kept the food and service quality consistent throughout every economic climate.
I want to add a special note that the Smoked Maple Leaf Duck Quesadillas may be my favorite appetizer in the entire Austin area (along with the crispy oysters from Jefferies).
So enjoy ya'll.
Gastro Gnome
I'm torn on this one. Â The atmosphere is great as well as the service. Â The menu is exciting with the ostrich, elk, buffalo, duck, etc. Â The prices are on the snooty side. Â The sides and appetizers were delicious. Â The meats cooked over logs and flames gave a nasty charcoal taste rather than the flame-kissed and smoky flavors i know they were going for. Â My kids verified (via leftovers!) that the meat was "burned" and didn't want anymore. Â We ordered two different desserts and they were out of both.
Our first visit was a few years ago and my step-mom loved it so much she paid the tab. Â She was so excited to go eat somewhere that was not the "Golden Corral" (which is on my dad's A-list). Â She has talked about it ever since!
My wife and I had a $50 gift certificate this time and still ended up charging another $35 to square up. Â Being my dad's son, cheapskate runs in my blood and I was VERY happy to pay $35 for our meal. Â I would have stroked out if we had not had the gift certificate. Â And we didn't order drinks either (water only).
I really want to give them 4 or 5 stars but ultimately I will leave it at 3 because of the burned meat (although once the carbonite was off the inside was great), price, and complete strikeout on dessert.
My friend and I went here after the Alley bistro was closed, we had heard about this place before and thought it was going to be high priced. Went in for an early dinner/lunch and couldn't have been more happy with the selection. I got the Del Rio burger, my friend got the Classic burger and the corn shrimp chowder. The chowder was amazing, so flavorful and not over powering with the seafood taste.
The soup was brought out prompt and our water glasses were filled as we waited on our burgers. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. The burgers were really good size everything was fresh and the fries were delish.
The meat, ohhhh the meat (that's what she said). That is what a burger should taste like...I have no idea what they did or what they used in it, I can only speculate something addictive and illegal, but it was so good.
Our menu was lunch/brunch menu so we got to look at the brunch special and we will be back for that. It seemed about $10 for brunch and $3 for drinks.
Stay posted for the brunch review
Based on my three star experience today and my five star experience last time, we'll put this place at a solid four. Today my chicken and dumplings was (were?) hot and peppery and rich. Came with a side of charred squash which was smoky and perfect. The service was quite good too but my friends "lunch ribeye" was more than half fat. Thin and riddled with it. SHUDDER.
The last time I was here, the food was incredible. The service was incredible. And it was dinner so maybe the lesson is that you should go at night, enjoy a little ambiance, wine, and a leisurely dinner at a nice restaurant in Georgetown.
What a nice little jewel this place is!
We met a friend here when we were looking for wedding locations. The decor is elegant and the food is just as wonderful.
I had the chicken friend chicken - so tender and juicy - with veggies and potatoes. Â It was just amazing.
G had seared tuna, also wonderful in flavor and his sides were 'fantastic'
The service was excellent as well: the server always showed up with more tea just at the right time and when there was an incorrect dressing on our friend's salad the correct one materialized immediately. Â
We can't wait to bring our friends here!
We tried their Sunday brunch. After little bit of walking explore in downtown Georgetown, found a nice spot next to the theater.
not much for the food although the generous portion of it. blend  and hardly sophisticated. The poched egg was pretty bad shape. the server was nice though.
The glass top of table is completely off the notch. I wasn't expecting a Chinese restaurant table with glass cleaner (enough of ammonium sulfate).
I haven't a clue why people think this is a good restaurant. Â I haven't been in over 2 years, but when we went, ... wow. Â My wife and I thought "great! a "gourmet" restaurant in Georgetown". Â Let's try it out -- The service was extremely mediocre. Â The food was even worse!
It either had no flavor or simply tasted like char. Â Since I didn't want anything on the menu at the time, I thought I'd go with something simple -- Fajitas. It's Texas; it's simple; and it should be as simple as cooking a steak.
Apparently, this was too much of an effort for them! It was black, tough and charred. Â So bad that I didn't even bother eating it.
We left before having desert and have never looked back.
There IS a reason to go to Georgetown after all...
I have eaten my way through half this menu and am looking forward to eventually making it through the rest. Â The chicken and dumplings, only served at lunch, is the best though. Â And their fries are awesome. Â
Cute decor (according to women I know, I don't care) and the service is prompt and courteous. Â Varied menu, but nothing too out there that would freak people out. Â Try the emu, it's great. Â And it's red meat.
This place was awesome especially their service. My wife and I had plans to meet a couple of friends from Killeen, at the Fish city restaurant, when like always my wife took forever to get ready and fish city said they were closing already. I found WildFire on this app. I called to see if they were still open and was told yes even though they were closing in 10 min.
We ended up having a great night, with great tasting food , and awesome drinks. I would recommend it to everyone and we are planing to meet there again.
Blondie and I lived in Pflugerville for a few years and we heard of Wildfire from a friend. Â After the first time we went there, we were big fans! Â We've eaten in the restaurant and the bar on multiple occasions, but we prefer the bar area. Â Blondie and I agree that Wildfire makes the best hamburgers we've EVER eaten! Â Bar none. Â The problem is that we live in Florida now and cannot just drive up 130 for a great meal. Â
You owe it to yourself to patronize Wildfire. Â You'll be glad you did!
We originally planed to go to Georgetown Romeo restaurant for an event. I was late from late as usually. So we missed the dinner event there. Matt suggested to take me to the best restaurant in Georgetown firework.
The restaurant is divided into two sections, bar area and fine dining area. Bar area is full of red color, pretty modern. Dinning area is a little bit old school.
The hostess wears skirt under this cold weather. That was impressive.
Guests around all wear office suits and ties. Who will wear ties these days? Matt said it's very close to the courthouse and there are a lot of law firms around. Probably they are lawyers.
Our waiter is very nice and kept on asking if he can bring more stuff to us. Their bread is very good, just out of oven. He suggested his favorite seafood pasta. Matt ordered bacon wrapped scallop as appetizer and duck as entree. I ordered the waiter's favorite seafood pasta which has scallop, shrimp, salmon and other fish in it. And I like it very much. Very very creamy. The appetizer scallop is very good too. Especially mixed with bacon. It's very creative. The duck is OK. It's a little bit tough and not juicy enough.
Overall it's a very nice restaurant. I thought you can only find BBQ and chicken fried steak in Georgetown. I guess I'm wrong.
Now that gas is back down to $1.80 per gallon, make the trip up to Georgetown from Austin and try Wildfire as it really is a "hidden gem". We had smoked maple leaf Duck and jumbo sea scallop fettuccini Alfredo and both were good.. For an appetiser we had the Flamed Seared Bacon Wrapped Jumbo Scallops and they were awesome. The prices are fair and the service was excellent. Although far away the location is nice as we had a seat by the window close to the historic square. I am surprised there are only 3 reviews, it is worth the trip.
Review Source:I would consider this the "fanciest" restaurant in Georgetown. I mean, that's not saying all that much, in Gtown. Not that I don't love my hometown..... its just not fancy.
Wildfire is also probably one of the most expensive restaurants in town. Â And its not what I would consider outrageously expensive or anything. Again, Gtowns not a fancy place.
The food is good and the atmosphere is nice, although I agree with a previous review that the booths are really uncomfortable.
I would say the whole menu is pretty tasty. My favorite is the tortilla soup or anything with portabella mushrooms.
So, any restaurant that starts me off with apple-Cinnamon scones as opposed to token sourdough (Zzz...) bread automatically gets a couple of stars, even if they serve me crap-on-a-plate for my entree. Thankfully, crap-on-a-plate is not on the menu, and everything that is is wonderful. The salads are some of my favorites, or if your in the mood for saturated fat, go for the chicken fingers.
Odds are you'll be happy with whatever you order. Just avoid the wooden booths. They're as hard as, well, wood.
