got the appetizer sampler which included seafood quesadilla, shrimp cabo, and stuffed seafood jalapenos. shrimp cabo was pretty amazing. the other 2 were good as well.  jalapenos had some kick to them but not too spicy.

i got the ribeye medium rare and it was cooked to my order and was very flavorful. the au jus or sauce or whatever that came with the steak was delicious as well. my gf got the strip steak and that was delicious as well too.

for sides, we got grilled asparagus, roasted vegetables, both which were pretty standard. and texas rice and parmesan risotto. these two were very good i thought. texas rice isn't anything fancy or special but still tasted really good. and they gave me a lot of it... maybe bc its so cheap to make.

the view of the harbor/bay is also real nice at night. we wanted an outdoor table but they were all full. we got a table right next to the window that separated us from the outdoor seating, which still had a great view.

drinks, pina colada, long island (beach) tea, and some margarita i forget were all good sizes and tasted great as well. i regret not getting scotch with my steak though... if they served scotch... just a personal preference.

i'd definitely go again. we went at like 8pm on a friday night and it wasn't too crowded.

This place is AMAZING!  I ate here twice on my last trip to Galveston.  Once for brunch and for the final place we ate before leaving!  When we were there for brunch it was the busiest time of the day.  We sat at the bar and ordered food there.  The bar tender was completely swamped and it did take a little time to get served, but he had such great hospitality that it made up for the wait!

I had the redfish which was amazing, and my husband had the stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon... DIVINE!

If you are going to galveston you absolutely have to go to this restaurant!

We visited Willie G's after researching it on Yelp.  We were told the wait would be 20 minutes but go seated in 10.  Our waiter, David, came right over and was very helpful.  We had two kids with us.  Our daughter wanted the shrimp off of the kids' menu but wanted it grilled instead of fried.  David accommodated that request on demand.  He also offered to have the kids' entrees out first.  Both girls loved their food.  I ordered a steak and substituted risotto for mashed potatoes.  When the entree came it had the mash and veggies.  I pointed it out to David and he brought my risotto out right away leaving the mash and veggies.  I tried them all and was very impressed.  The food was outstanding.  My husband ordered steak and lobster and he was just as impressed.  David responded to our every request.  All of the waiters were very professional.  I would highly recommend this restaurant.  it is off the beaten path in Galveston but that is a good thing.

The food here is incredible and the waitstaff is very attentive. The folks in our party had everything from steak to seafood to salad with a good sampling of everything on the menu. All of their fish is fresh caught and it is upscale dining. An important thing to note is that they validate parking here so don't waste your money parking places that they don't validate.

We went here for Happy Hour so I can't comment on the dinner menu but the Happy hour menu is great and reasonably priced. We split 3 Items between 2 of us and it was all delish! Mojito's and Mexican martini's were tasty and good amount of alcohol. Kids Chicken strips appaered freshly prepaired and enough food to split between 2 kids. It was probably the best food for the value we had all week in Galveston. To top it off our waiter was fabulous! he kept the kids entertained the whole time we were there.

Horrible, horrible horrible. Went to Willie G's on my birthday last Tuesday (2/26/13), got the $32 ribeye - worst steak ever! I don't  think it was even a ribeye, tasted more like a chuck steak. I could have got a better steak at the Golden Corral at 1/4 the price. We didn't even get bread with dinner like other tables got, my date's caesar salad was awful, a bunch of the stems of romaine that we had to send back, luckily they removed the charge from the bill. I should have known that the food would be bad when we asked the waitress a question about oysters and she said the chef was off she'll have to ask the sous chef.  I loved the food at the Post Oak location when I've eaten there several years ago but the Galveston location should be avoided at all costs, go to Rudy & Paco and have a good meal.

I went to Wiiie G's with my husband and two friends for lunch. The place has a great atmosphere. Light and airy feeling with a modern touch, very unlike Landry's in Kemah. However, the food is typical Landry's. I ordered the Tomato Caprice Salad for $8.99. What I got was a large plate filled with lots of iceberg lettuce. There was a fair amount of mozzarella cheese but very little tomato. The salad had two slices of thinly sliced tomato cut in tow pieces, and maybe four or five small grape tomatoes. This was no where worth $8.99.

I tasted the onions rings on my husband's plate. They were extremely oily. Our two friends were pleased with there lunch, but the had to add shrimp at $5.95 to feel like they had a full meal. I don't know what kind of salads they ordered. All I can say is, don't order the salads unless you want them for just a side dish.

    5 Star all the way!

We went to another restaurant near by (see my other review) and after not diggin' the menu we came here.

Our server (Wendy) was fantastic.  Was very good with my kids, very informative, prompt, and over all just nice.

The menu is GREAT.  Something for all appetites.

The only think they should clarify on the menu is how things are worded, it makes you think its a la carte.  That isn't the case.  All the dishes come with a starch and a veggie side.  Don't be misinformed! However, next time I want to try the risotto.

Oh and the desserts, the chocolate lava cake they have (cannot remember the exact name) is to die for.  Hands down the best dessert we have ever had.  But just a warning, it takes 15 minutes to prepare so order early.

    VERY tasty, will be back!

Good stuff!  A nice place for a special occation or if someone else is buying.  Otherwise kind of pricey.  But worth it, I thought.  We went with a group who ordered both seafood and steak, all liked their meal.  Service was great as were the views of the ship channel.

I was down in Houston for a work conference recently and decided to drive down to Galveston to have dinner on the water.

My coworker and I chose Willie G's because they had the most patrons outside, so we assumed it had to be good.

We walked in and were immediately greeted in a VERY friendly manner by a the blonde hostess.  We requested to be seated outside and were immediately taken to our table.

The table itself was not super comfy and they really need some bug zappers out there.  However, the view is SUPER pretty of the harbor and the inside atmosphere is very classy.

I ordered the chicken & sausage gumbo which had a great amount of kick to it and the coconut shrimp.  the shrimp were kind of rubbery, but they were still tasty.  the soda tasted a bit nasty though.  I'm guessing it's the local water.

Our waiter was fun and flirty in an unstable playboy kind of way.  He answered our questions and brought us garlic bread. :)

Before leaving, my friend had to use the washroom due to not feeling well (HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FOOD).  i sat at the bar and nursed a Shirley Temple and spoke to the bartender (a SUPER sweet girl who made beautiful coffee), another cutie waiter and my waiter while I was waiting.  Kind of made me wish I lived down there, so that I could hang out with them at the bar at night and play.

All & all it was a good experience and I would come back if I were ever in the area again.

    Oysters. Great!
Redfish special (etoufee on top). Phenomenal.
Wife had scallops and those were very tasty as well.
Ordered the cheesecake for dessert and wife got the chocolate explosion or something like that. Very good......but way too much food!

Also, the wine list is very reasonable.  And the service?  Outstanding!

I would most definitly go again.

I am not sure why, but this place reminded me of Red Lobster ~ and not quite as good.  The Fried Oysters were grainy/sandy ~ ick.  The French Fries sorta soggy...double ick.

Although my friend had the Red Fish and it was rather good.  Maybe I ordered the wrong thing.  I'd try this place again just to see, but not anytime soon!

I have been here several times and this place has yet to disappoint. Most recently I had a seared tuna special. The tuna was coated in sesame and served on a bed of Parmesan Risotto & some Asian dipping sauces- it was delicious. Pretty on par for what I expected BC this place is consistently great. Start with an avocado crab tower!

My 99-year old grandmother informed me that Galveston was a rich man's town--no one should spend $20 on fried shrimp.  But you have to forgive, the last time she had shrimp was three years ago at the Do Drop In Cafe in Paris, Arkansas.  And she thought the $9.99 price tag was a bit much then.

She got the chicken.  And after tasting it, I sort of wish I'd gotten the chicken too.  Not that my shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese wasn't delish!  But that chicken coated in bread crumbs and Romano cheese with mashed taters and steamed green beans was really good.  My daughter got the crab, avocado, pico tower which was also tasty.

Service was excellent.  My only complaint was the inside tables were really cold and the outside ones--meant to be on the water with a harbor view--just sort of back up to where the drunken revelers on the party boats depart and dock.  They, and their boom boxes, are a bit annoying.  So my choices were cold or mildly annoyed.

Otherwise it was a good experience--ceptin' for them highfalutin prices!  I'm kidding, prices were fairly moderate.  They really should give you a salad for what they charge.  It's not over the top pricey, but it's still a tad bit high.

All I need on a mini summer vacay is a mammoth sized pina colada (or 2) and cold broiled shrimp, perhaps with some oysters on the half shell mixed in. Seriously, its that easy, and Willie G's does it well.

After a hot, sweaty ferry ride with the boyfriend's fam, our large group of 8 was seated almost immediately upon entering. I waited to write this review, just in case my judgment was blinded by my extreme thirst and hunger. Now that I'm fully recovered and my minor forehead sunburn has turned to a sun-kissed bronze, I can attest that Willie G's really is that good.

Food that was had includes, stuffed shrimp, broiled shrimp, the redfish special (with a crawfish topping that was deeeeelish), shrimp fettuccine and oysters. The redfish special was a standout and the whole table couldn't get enough of the parmesan risotto. I might order an entire bowl next time.

As accommodating as they were for our large group, I can see this being an even better fit for an intimate dinner, with a great looking interior and even better views of the harbor. Willie G's will be on my list of restaurant choices in future visits to G-town.

This place should be Willie G's seafood NO steakhouse.  They have 5 menu items that are not seafood.  I am not going to make this a very long review because all you need to know is my filet (ordered medium) was charred and my husbands ribeye - The same.  We chose this place because it was close to our hotel and we had a coupon and they had surf and turf which is what I ordered.  I would have given this place 1 star if my lobster wasnt as good as it was.

The service was confusing, and noticed that a lot of other customers were confused around us.  It was bad communication or hearing or something, I dont know how to explain it.  We'd ask for one thing, and something completely weird would happen.  For example...do you have a Shiraz, and waiter walked away and brought back a cup full of straws.  I guess I can see where the confusion might be but so many people around us looked just as confused as we were.

Other than that our server was good and attentive, they paid for my overcooked steak and I suffered through the chewing process because I didnt want to wait for another one.  My husband let his go, and we paid for his.  We ordered the molton chocolate for our free desert and it was huge!  It was good but the ends were burnt.  At this point, wasnt even worth saying anything.

Anyhow - I dont recommend.  Make reservations and try something else.  If your looking for a steak....I have no idea where to tell you to go - but dont go here.  You will be disappointed.  Or I guess, you could order your steak raw, maybe it will come out medium.

I am not sure we would pay the regular prices for seafood here as it is quite high, but the Social Hour specials are a terrific offering. We had fried calamari which was very lightly breaded and tasty (the marinara sauce was memorable we thought) and the seafood quesedilla which was also very flavorful with shrimp, crab, and crawfish inside. Two Stella drafts and the total bill was $20! That is a great value.

There are numerous other choices for either $5 or$7, and lots of drink specials like a glass of nice wine for $4 and bar drinks for the same. Social hour starts at 11 am.

The service was just fine and acceptable. Not being extremely busy helped, and it also was quiet and peaceful during lunch hour.

It's been a while since we dined at Willie G's. A friend wanted lobster for her birthday so a group of us gathered there. The weather was lovely so we chose outdoor seating, a special treat with the Elissa  temporarily docked nearby. The extensive wine list provided both the red and white wine lovers among us many fine choices and we savored some while we perused the menu.

I was not particularly hungry, but it seemed imperative to have seafood while dining so close to the water so I chose the Shrimp and Jumbo Lump Crab Salad, "with fresh mozzarella, hearts of palm, red and yellow tomatoes in a basic balsamic glaze, drizzled with remoulade". Ooh ooh ooh, was it wonderful. The four large shrimp were perfectly grilled, and the huge hunks of crabmeat (my personal favorite) were as fresh as could be. The two dressings were a great combination. Altogether it was a delicious mix and I would order it again any time.

My companion couldn't settle on just one thing, so he chose the Appetizer Sampler of Seafood Quesadilla, Shrimp Cabo (cheese-filled and bacon wrapped with corn pico relish and red pepper sauce) and Stuffed jalapeños. The plate came with two of each, and he judged it to serve as an excellent small meal. The jalapeños were hot and the quesadilla topping was spicy.

One of our friends had Grilled Salmon Ceretto which he declared to be very fresh and with satisfying texture. The topping of roasted mushrooms and lemon butter added a perfect tangy flavor. The accompanying parmesan risotto and sauteed green beans were ideal additions, with just a hint of tangy seasoning.

Our birthday friend loved her lobster tail (also with green beans and risotto) and said it was everything she hoped for. To top off the evening, our waiter brought out a "Chocolate Riviera", a fabulous concoction...crusty on the outside, with luscious gooey chocolate when you break into it. If you like chocolate, you will adore this.

Overall we had a delightful meal and a relaxed evening, in beautiful surroundings. A great place to dine, and bring your visitors for a taste of Galveston. Keep it up Willie G's.

There are so many great seafood restaurants to chose from in Galveston but Willie G's used to be known as one of the best so that's where we found ourselves. We parked it at a perfect table by the window overlooking the water. It was lunch time and I was pretty impressed at the number of tables that were full. Next to us was a crowd of local workers from UT Galveston, so I felt pretty confident with my choice to come here.

But all of the details really pale next to the food. The tuna sampler features both tartare and rare seared tuna. It was like, well, a surf and surf combo and it was amazing. This was one of those appetizers that is so great, you can't even believe there's a meal coming after it! The calamari also scored some points as well.

Then I went rouge for my lunch selection with the Giuliani Sliders-- a bizzare yet perfectly yummy combination of Shrimp done Parmesan-style, all smothered in marinara sauce and cheese. A great lunch overall and props to the salt scrub in the bathroom that left my hands like I had just stepped out of a spa!

They also validate so make sure to get your ticket stamped.

The gang and I stopped at Willie G's for a quick lunch as we arrived in Galveston.  Willie G's charges resort-level prices, but we just wanted something simple, and we arrived as the lunch menu options went away (3:00 pm).  We were able to escape somewhat by having soups.  Mrs. B had the lobster bisque, and I had the seafood and filé gumbo.  Both were very tasty, but I thought the gumbo was a bit watered-down.  The bread they served with the soups was very tasty and great for dipping like a cracker.

Willie G's is wedged between the Harbor House hotel and the Seaport Museum, so it is very convenient for attractions on the opposite side of the island from the seawall.  We were actually on our way to a Galveston attraction, and when we let the server know that we were in a bit of a hurry, it didn't seem to affect his pace one bit.  In fact, I had to chase him down when we were ready to pay our check.  This might have been kind of a fluke, because we were there after the lunch crowd but before the dinner crowd, so they were probably spread a little thin at the time.  If I have the chance to go to Willie G's again, I wouldn't mind going at all.  However, I don't think I would go well out of my way to make it there.

I was in Galveston for one night. I got in fairly late and thankfully Willie G's was right next door to my hotel. I had the 'Redfish Louisianne'. The food was excellent.

Nice place inside. I'd say the clientele was dressy-casual. There is outdoor seating with nice views of the water too.

Great food, inconsistent service (but not enough to take a point off).

    Food:

Bread: nice garlic bread. Make sure to ask for it since they don't give it out by default.

Carbonara: fettuccine with an absolutely amazing sauce and delicious prosciutto. Everything was perfect (aside from the time they forgot the prosciutto).

Del Mar: fish somewhat dry, but otherwise a great combination.

Shrimp Giuliani: my new favorite shrimp dish (outside of Rudy and Paco). Far better than the crappy version served by that other Italian restaurant on the island. Sauce was suprisingly deep despite being chiefly a marinara sauce.

Shrimp Cabo: great shrimp dish (see a trend?) wrapped with bacon. Got somewhat bored by it the 3rd time around though.

Service: besides messing up orders? Apparently they are unable to understand what "crushed red pepper" is, bringing anything from cayenne powder, Tabasco sauce, whole chiles(?), and sometimes the right thing actually depending on who's serving.

    Hints:
Steak and other seafood seem to be better than the fish here.

    Very good service.

Food was delicious. It was a little pricey but the service was was wonderful. I went with a friend and his wasn't happy with his steak - they took it back and made a a brand new plate... not just replacing the steak, the whole plate was remade.

They were very happy to redo it, and very courteous.

They even checked back to make sure the steak was done right and made sure we had everything we needed. Wonderful service, pretty good wine selection, great ambiance.

Good place for dinner with friends or a nice date. Pretty quiet, adult atmosphere, I don't recommend taking children during dinner and evenings.

they have a private lot, with a check in booth. The restaurant with validate your parking slip.

Weekday night, private event, upstairs overlooks the harbor, servers were very attentive with the wine - in fact, overly so, but that's not a bad thing depending on which end of the table you're sitting on.

Appetizers were very tasty. Seared tuna and avocado was a little underwhelming, flavor-wise, but otherwise executed well. Calamari less on the calamari-side, more on the fried side, so meh.

Accompaniment salad - completely forgot it was there. It was a pile of iceberg.

The blackened seabass was delicious! With lumps of crab or some other crustacean on top, served alongside risotto and a few spindly carrots and asparagus.

Highlight really was the seabass.. very smooth, velvety almost, with the crustacean stuff giving the overall bite a saltier, and stronger finish.

Key lime pie at the end was deliciously light.

Seemed like they have a good happy hour from 11am til 7pm on weekdays. Lots of young twenty-somethings sitting around in groups of 10+ enjoying drinks and apps. Could be fun if that were the circumstance.

We came to Willy G's for dinner on a Friday night and sat on the patio. Let me preclude that this rating would have been a LOT lower because of the server, except that the food and the house manager more than made up for the lack of service we received.

The atmosphere was casual and light, with inter-table mingling encouraged through the banter and low music.

To begin, we ordered the appetizer sampler - which included the Bacon wrapped shrimp, crab 'stuffed' portabellos, and seafood quesadillas. The portabellos were firm and meaty, while the Bacon-wrapped shrimp was surprisingly light and flavorful, no chew whatsoever. The quesadillas were somewhat bland, but understandably when grilled in flour tortillas.

Next, we had both a house salad with the honey dijon vinaigrette and a tomato caprese salad. The server was argumentative when we stated that our salads were served backward (he gave our salads to the opposite persons). We switched anyway and he ended up running back to us to apologize that he set our salads wrong and we were right.

The house salad was crispy and tart, very well prepared. The caprese was full and flavorful, and rather non-traditional - in the good sense.

Our main course was a Filet Mignon, medium rare, with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and steamed green beans.

We received a sirloin that was medium well. The server argued again, saying that it was a filet on our place and that it looked pink enough. The manager came to us, though, and offered to recook/replace it. We got back a filet, cooked slightly too well, but the seasoning was wonderfully peppery, the beans were crisp and fresh, and the mashers were buttery and garlicky and topped with these perfectly crispy sweet potato shavings.

Because of the problems we had with our steak, the manager did come back twice more to check on us, apologized again, and asked if he could get us dessert. We reassured him that that was not necessary (we are not big dessert eaters), but he insisted and sent a new server over with the dessert tray.

We finished, then, with a chocolate cake and the coconut creme brulee. The chocolate cake was dry, but the creme brulee was creamy, dreamy, and perfectly smooth. A great finish to the meal.

On our way out, the manager again stopped us and commented that HE was not happy with either steak and was 'this close' to taking the second back as well (hence the reason he came back to our table twice more and somewhat took it over from our server). He stated that, as they are a steak and seafood restaurant, they cannot be serving sub-par, or even par, steaks. They want to excel.

His attitude, remorse, and attention saved our meal.

I was going to rate our experience w 2-3 stars, but the managers desire to put right our evening made up for the previous service and mistakes. I would return to give them a second chance!

My grandmother and I travelled from CA to Galveston and after a terrible day of travel we stumbled into WIllie G's looking for dinner. Unfortunately we walked in 5 minutes after they had stopped seating but after looking at our haggard selves they were nice enough to seat us. (Thank God because we were starving after refusing to eat airport/plane food!)

We both ordered the Lobster Bisque Soup, then shared the Iceberg Lettuce Wedge and Chicken Salad. The soup was lovely (with lots of lobster chunks) and the salads were great too. Compared to The SF Bay Area the price was very reasonable. I would definitely re-visit Willie G's for the Lobster Bisque Soup!

This is your basic standard seafood. Nothing special or unique at all. However it did satiate my craving for fried oysters. I have this craving often. My husband was happy with his seafood platter as well.

One thing I did not like is I asked how their Lobster Bisque was prepared. I'm a very picky lobster person. Anyhow, they do not prepare it with Sherry and the waitress informed me that they use lobster puree. OK, lobster puree? Surrrre you do. Is that like essence of Lobster?

Even though we both enjoyed our meals there is nothing that stands out making us want to return or recommend it to others.

I've never been to Galveston, and didn't have time to research via Yelp, so I didn't have a clue of what places were good/bad/interesting/unique,  so we stumbled into Willie G's. Now I'm more of a "dive-bar, burger-eatin', no fancy frills" kinda girl, and walking into Willie G's with their crisp white tablecloth and basicaly tuxedo wearing waiters kind of turned me off.

Service wise, we had a great waiter, friendly, timely, our drinks were never bare.

Food wise, we paid $75 for a "unforgettable meal" as our waiter implied,  yet 20 minutes later, I forgot that I ate, I was so starving. I had "Chilean Sea Bass" which was not tasty at all, over parmesaned Parmesan Risotto, and my boyfriend had the Red Snapper which was the overpriced catch of the day. Had absolutely no taste to it. Overall, pretty dissapointed in the fish here.

Dear Landry's:  Fire your manager and re-train your waiter.

I hit up Willie G's with my wife and three friends when we were in Galveston.  I typically avoid chain restaurants, even when traveling, but we wanted to try something besides Gaido's and it is hard to avoid a Landry's owned restaurant on Galveston Island.

The food:  I have to say, the entrees were very good.  I had the Redfish Francese and it was excellent.  Other orders at the table were Seared Tuna, Mahi Mahi, the Mixed Grill, and the Hazelnut Trout.  All were good--although the Seared Tuna was somewhat tasteless.  Desserts included the chocolate eruption cake and a crème brûlée, which were decent, but not exceptionally memorable or remarkable.

The Service:  Here is where things get WEIRD.  Our waiter was friendly enough, but he seemed somewhat disconnected and uncomfortable in his role.  When dessert time came, everyone at the table ordered coffee.  The coffee was terrible.  Clearly, it had been made hours before and the pot sat on the burner untouched until served to us.  Naturally, my friend informed the waiter of this stale coffee, but this only seemed to confuse him.  He asked, "So, you don't want it?"  To which she replied, "Of course not, it tastes very old."  The waiter said, "ohhh kaaay," picked up her coffee cup, and walked away without another word--leaving the remaining four coffee cups at the table.

The desserts arrived along with a manager.  The manager greeted my friend who complained about the coffee (this is a direct quote), "Hi, I'm XXXXX, the manager.  I'm going to be the guinea pig and taste your coffee to see if it is really not fresh."

We all stared at the manger for a second in disbelief before my complaining friend asked why she (the manager) needed to taste it?  The coffee had been made hours ago, this much was clear, and a fresh pot should be brewed.  What is so complicated about that?  The manager then said, "Well, we'll just take it off your bill, then."

WTF?  Why offer to taste the coffee as if my friend were lying and trying to pull one over on Mr. G?  How hard is it to simply make a fresh pot of coffee?  And what about the rest of us who had been served the same crappy coffee?  Four other virtually untouched mugs sat there at the table staring the manager in the face.

So the check comes and it has four coffees on it.  Yes, that's right.  The manager removed only the one coffee from the bill.  Normally, we would argue this one out.  But since we all figured the waiter was the original source of the confusion and we were anxious to leave at this point, we deducted the four coffees from the tip and moved on.

Based on that strange service, I would be hesitant to return to Willie G's.  Good food is of course a necessary component of a good meal, but I can get good food to go.  Service is also important, and I don't demand a lot.

We went here right before we left town to try the fresh seafood and it was a good but not a great experience. The service was great but it was the food that lacked at some points. We started with a half dozen oysters on the half shell and the fried calamari. Now I am a chef but grew up in the midwest so I tend to be very steak and potatoes and not so much seafood. The oysters were wonderful for my first experience and being a big calamari fan they executed them perfectly.

The main course is where we were let down. My girlfriend ordered the red snapper and was told that they were out of it (should have told us when we were presented the menu...) so he recommended the stuffed flounder. I ordered more on the safe side and got the crab stuffed shrimp. The plates were nicely presented but were missing something. Both of the entrees were missing some basic seasoning. If I am going to pay top dollar for fresh seafood please just season it correctly. The Parmesan risotto was very stiff and my garnish vegetables were undercooked. I was pleased with the crab stuffed shrimp (if it wasn't for them and the calamari it would have gotten 2 stars).

Overall just OK and a bit overpriced. If I make it back to Texas I will probably try a new place instead of going back here. If you do go the oysters and calamari are good maybe for a light lunch.

Every time I go here I leave full and mostly happy - culinarily.  Service can be a pain in the arse sometimes, but I'm not shy and have no problem flagging down anyone who looks like they work there, so don't be a fool and just sit there.  Anyway, the oysters are fresh, gumbo ok.  The seared sea scallops and bok choy are good except I start to hate the sauce towards the end.    The seared ahi tuna is good, and it works ok with the parmesan risotto - despite the fact that this risotto appears on their menu far too many times.  And the bf always gets the Del Mar platter, which is mahi mahi (great), redfish (its ok, nothing special), and 3 crab-stuffed shrimp.  And parmesan risotto.  A good size plate of food but still wish there were a few more shrimp.

Now despite having been revamped after Ike (Robin R., that carpet IS truly dreadful and hypnotizing) it's still a kinda small restaurant unless they're using the outside seating.  Not that I want to sit out there, what with the yuck water, birds, and Galveston summer temperatures.  But, they may have a line to be seated so be prepared.  I'm actually not sure if this is because of the size of the place or the stupidity of the hostess but that's neither here nor there.

One thing I'll mention is I really hate that you have to deal with those ridiculous parking attendants that make you pay in advance, get your ticket validated with your meal, and then refund you.  Dude, what's the effin point, just charge people on the way out.  Sigh.....

Drinks are ok, nothing special again.  Overall a good place for seafood down here, despite the fact that it's a chain and is not really authentic Galvetraz food fare.  It's a little pricey if you happen to like food like me, so we're usually ~120 for 2 people + tip so that's why they really only get 3 stars.  I will say I like them better than Landry's, which is the same company.  To me though, Landry's is a little more business-lunch/graduation dinner, where Willie G's is family dinner/date night.  Dress code is totally random though, I know I've been there in a hoodie and jeans and the bf with his hair all out, while other people come in dressed dressed.  Go for the middle ground if you care, but it's not like they'll deny you service if you in a polo shirt and shorts.  Maybe if you come in a bathing suit and shorts...

What a whirlwind. Delicious fish tacos, martinis for lunch, get-the-job-done garlic bread. I have to admit, my expectations were fairly low yet hopeful, and I ended up being pleasantly surprised.

The fish tacos I had were light and flavorful. The accompanying shoestring french fries were delicious and crispy. Overall, it seemed like a great value (although I am probably a bad judge of that, as I live on the East coast).  They have redecorated since Ike hit and I love the look, but don't look at the carpet if you have had any martinis. It will hypnotize you.

Many people love this place but I dont think its the best example of Galveston seafood.  However, its not bad.

The gulf shrimp you cant go wrong or crab dishes.

    Enjoy !!

Met up with some coworkers after a conference here.  Nicely located in the Pier.  Decor was dark stained woods and white table clothes.  Seafood was not chew and full of flavor.  Fish and shrimp items on the menu were prepared in other methods than deep fried and bathed in butter.

It's a chain and this is coastal people.  Find someplace with local charm.
