    Went here for a bridal shower for my cousin.  Was a little disappointed by their wine selection.  Good for small parties, they cooked me and my aunt plain eggplant.  Definetly a good place for a date.

    Very disappointed. I was expecting better by far. Atmosphere was nice with the the rustic look of exposed rafters and stone walls. Churches usually creep me out like many, but I personally did not get that feel from this one. Parking lot is a complete mess and we had to walk on the shoulder of a main road to get to the entrance, even though they are in the process of fixing that issue.

    Officially The Winery at St. Georges with all their known struggles from the town has turned from winery to a full restaurant. I was there on a Saturday night, pretty quiet with no live music on that night. So instead they played GOD awful pop music from the radio, so half the time your listening to commercials which totally ruined the atmosphere for the look of the space.  Also at the time I walked in there was no hostess to greet and seat with sort of an awkward layout of the tables. So no greeting as if I had no idea what I was walking into because even the inner doors were closed, which I thought is a mistake for welcoming customers.

    The food was where the main disappointment lied since it is a restaurant. We shared the Tapas. Food was on the cold side, over cooked shrimp and everything else lacked flavor. They raved about a brussels sprout dish that was extremely over dressed with oil and a vinegar. So just over all the food was far anything special and just really not that good. Later at the end of the meal the owner came up to and asked if everything was good. I was polite and said it was, but at the same time I mentioned about the brussel sprouts I felt were over dressed. He said something in the form of that "well there brussel sprouts and you know..." I don't recall what was exactly said, but it was like an excuse to try and cover up the main ingredient of a dish because of what it was instead of complementing it. Not like I'm some expert. I think you get what I mean though.

    Don't get me wrong I have had much worse and nothing was completely awful, but all in all EH.

    My wife and I invited a couple to come here on a Saturday night.  We were here a year ago, before the new menu was created -- the dinner menu makes this place perfect for dinner with friends.  The ambiance of the old church building is really unique and classy -- everything from the bar area to the seating and even bathrooms is done with quality and taste.  We decided to order 4 from the Tapas menu and 1 entree to share among the four of us.  It was fun ordering them as the night went on rather than all at once and we enjoyed each plate.  Highly recommend the brussel sprout dish even if you don't like brussel sprouts normally!  Also really enjoyed the short ribs (but I always order those no matter where I go!).

    The service was very attentive, and one of the owners came by to chat and make us all feel very welcome.  He talked about the various wines and gave us some good education (and some laughs, too).  We really enjoyed the wines we ordered -- my wife loved the Riesling especially.

    I told my parents about this place and now they want to come up with us again to celebrate their birthdays which fall this week.  I don't normally go to the same place twice in the same week, but this time I'm making the exception.  It's a commute for us from Northern NJ (around 45 minutes) but compared to going to NYC, it's a nice drive with worry-free parking and a real quality place to go.

    The space is amazing, and unique. They did a tremendous job restoring and repuposing this old church.

    It is a terrific and cozy venue to see local musical and vocal talent, and the acoustics are pretty good given the old stone walls and hewn beams.

    The food has been mostly tapas and finger foods, but over the last few weeks, as the kitchen renovation (it was the tiny sachristy) was being completed, the chef from Ginos in Mahopac came in and kicked it up a few notches. We hope this tirns into a longer term deal, as both the breadth of choices and quality of the dishes was outstanding.

    My only gripe as an oenophile and sommelier is the quality to price ratio of the wine list. I understand this is the profit center, but $10 - $18 a glass for red wine should allow for some really nice selections. They recently added a wine the owners helped bottle themselves out in Napa, and it was the best of the bunch (we tasted all of the reds). But once again, at $90 a bottle it streyches the budget for most customers who are not expecting NYC steakhouse prices

    I have been dying to go here for the longest time. So for my birthday my  hubby ordered tickets to see a band (Gold Spot) perform. We arrived around 7:45 because the show started at 8.

    When we first pulled into the parking lot we surprised to see the valet attendant on a slow Wednesday night. He literally parked the car 20 feet away from the door. It was nice to have a valet and all but we could have easily done that ourself.

    When we entered we were greeted by the bartender. I mentioned that we had tickets for the show and didn't know where to sit being that we had general audience tix. He told us to sit anywhere other than the low tables near the stage. We sat at a high table across from the bar and within minutes we picked a $36 bottle of Malbec. The bartender cameos to the our order and informed us that the winery did not get their order in so, they were out of stock. He offered us a tasting at the bar and we decided on a $52 bottle of Seven Sinners Petite Sirah. (Talk about up-selling! Lol) We also ordered a dessert called Trilogy. It was very yummy and paired nicely with the wine.

    Overall we have a very pleasant experience. We were a bit annoyed that we ordered tickets online for the show but no one came around to collect/check on our tickets. We could have just gone in and sat down without prepaying a cover charge. The band Gold Spot was very good and they had a girl open for them named Grace. She was also very good.

    I look forward to going back when they serve their new menu. Right now the menu is very limited.

    This is certainly a unique space but other than that, I wouldn't recommend it. Details:

    The place:
    A bit spooky as other reviewers have said but a really awesome place inside with cool lighting. I'm pretty sure there's no place else like it in Westchester. But if they're going to shine lights up into the rafters they should figure out how to get up there and clean out the disgusting, creepy cobwebs. It's a restaurant, not a haunted house. It's gross.

    Live music:
    The band on this Wednesday night was absolutely great. This specific band was the reason we were there. The acoustics in this space suck for this kind of music though. Chamber music or something would be a better fit.

    Service:
    The valet parking guy was nice but valet parking in a place like this was annoying. I'm forced to hand over my keys and tip a guy for moving my car 40 feet from where I gave it to him? Please, I could have done that myself.

    Our server was a very nice young man who tried hard and was very attentive but had no idea what he was doing. He could barely recite the two entrees they were offering that night, or the few beers they had. It was like watching a 5th grader in a school play trying to remember his lines. For these prices, the service should be more refined.

    Food:
    The dinner was poor and overpriced. We ordered the "artisan" cheese plate to start, for $25. It's like they went to Shop-Rite and bought some really mediocre cheese and a few boxes of crackers. Then they put a little of each on a wooden cutting board. The chef, if there is one, should go to Birdsall House in Peekskill to see what a nice quality cheese plate is, with handmade cheeses from around the Hudson Valley, paired with different chutneys, nuts and fruit. The server brings it to the table and explains what everything is and where it's from. And it's $7 less than the crap they're serving at the Winery.

    The salad was fine but I've eaten too many outstanding salads to think this was anything more than passable. The vegetable dumplings were kind of "ick" in terms of texture and taste. My wife had a few glasses of wine at $10 each and said it was "OK". They have no beer on draught but had 4 or 5 choices in bottles which again, the server could not name without an extra trip to the bar and back.

    In closing:
    Dinner was $135 with the tip and the tickets for the "good seats" to watch the band were another $33. So this was an expensive night. The music fee was totally worth it but the food and wine are WAY overpriced for what it is. If they want to be in the restaurant business they should hire a proper chef. If the food was great and the service more refined, they could have an incredible business. Until then, I will stay away.

    Our party of 4 made reservations for the Valentines Day 6 course meal with wine pairing 5 hour event.  The building is breathtaking - seriously.  The service - outstanding. The music - fun mix to dance to. The wine pairings were okay and different. The food - horrendous. To say we were disappointed is an understatement.

    The Winery at St. George is a wonderful place to go for a glass of wine or a wine class.  The best thing about the Winery is the owner, Tom DeChiaro.  He is a warm and generous host whose passion for wines is infectious!  Besides going to the Winery for an evening out, I highly recommend taking a wine class.  Tom gives either one class or a series of classes, but I assure you, after taking the class and learning the language and provenance(s) of wine(s), you will never see wine in the same light again!    The bartenders are also knowledgeable and will do a small wine tasting (of about 4 wines) if you get there early in the evening.  The food list is limited and not particularly remarkable, but the wine list is exceptional.  If you like white wines, try the Vouvray or the Gewurtztraminer.  Both are excellent.  Of the reds, a good choice is a petite syrah by Seven Sinners.  By far the best red is the Winery at St. George's own blend of 5 reds that is big and plummy and absolutely delicious.  At $25 glass or $90 a bottle, it is costly, but worth asking for a taste at the bar.

    My favorite place in Yorktown! The Winery at St. George is absolutely fabulous all around. The owners are friendly and accommodating, the environment is so relaxing and the wine is out of this world! I have attended their wine tasting classes and learned so much.
    When heading out for a weekend night, my first choice is always the winery.

    Relaxation meets elegance.
    It's exactly what Yorktown needs.

    Warm, cozy, relaxing.  A church converted into a "winery", but it was more like a wine bar.   A handful of tables and couches creates an inviting but slightly creepy atmosphere (I'm talking about the cobwebs you see when you look up at the high ceilings).

    After talking to some of the guys working there we learned St. George's bottles some of the wine in Napa but labels the bottles here.  They let us sample a bunch of reds before our group decided on which bottles to order.   Wines by the glass are really $$$, but much better by the bottle.

    We ordered veg dumplings (excellent), risotto (good), and a dip platter (good) for the table.   The wines we tried were very good and the chardonnay was my favorite.

    As the night progressed, the bar got packed with a slightly older crowd.   The back of the wine bar/church was lit up with purple/pink lights later on, was it becoming a club?!  

    Why is there valet parking here?  Really bizarre.

    We met friends at The Winery...our first visit

    My first impression:  Thought we'd be greeted by a monk  :)

    Cozy and tastefully remodeled church turned into a winery. Menu items are mostly simple items such as cheese platter with assorted tapas-like items

    Most wines were about $10-12 for a 5 oz glass. Bottles are a better value. Many bottles are about $40.

    Great place to spend a relaxing evening with friends, say $75 for 2 for wine with appetizers with tax and tip.

    Will return.

    Tip:  don't understand the big sign for valet parking in a small parking lot. We chose to park ourselves, and avoid the door dings.

    I'm completely boggled with this place.  The music, the intended demographic, the valet parking, and the bar that seems to be in the middle of the floor.. I just want to pick the owner's brain for answers !

    I went on a Friday night with a few friends, to observe the weirdest mix of people gathered inside.  At the front of the building, or alter area that I refer to as "The Last Supper", had a party group of hip looking 22-25 year olds that seemed to be better suited in SoHo.  Then there was a MILF sitting with a bunch of 20-something girls whom none of which looked old enough to drink in their Walmart clothes and sneakers. Shortly after we arrived, a group of Jersey Shore tangerine spike-heads came in with their stilletto clad, bump-it hair bimbos..... I'M SO LOST!!!!!

    The music was circa 1990's MTV mixed with WHUD radio, and I don't understand why the bar is cast 8 feet out into the main walking space. I mean the bartenders are Not sumo wrestlers so I don't know why they need an 8 foot gap behind the bar.  It could have made room for more table space or even stools.

    At 10-15$ a glass you are better off buying a bottle, inviting over a member from each of your high school stereotyped groups, and blasting Chumba Wumba in your own living room.

    I love the scenery and decor, as I am a huge fan of art/architecture and historical preservation, but this place is just too nutty.  That and I DO NOT like mere teenage-looking guys parking my car.  I'm fully capable myself, even if I am a chick!

    I absolutely love this place.  OK, I'll admit I've always wanted to see the inside ever since I moved to the area in the '80s even though I moved away in the meantime.

    It's gorgeous, very tasteful, and you can't help but feel like you're in a place that's a step above most others.

    The wine selections are well thought out and the staff are helpful if you need assistance in selecting something appropriate to your particular taste or mood.

    This area has been crying for such a place for quite some time.  If I still lived locally I'd definitely be a regular at this place.

    Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE wine, but this place was so bizarro that I couldn't stay.  First off, they have valet parking (this is Mohegan Lake, people) which I think is to deter people from leaving the second they walk in.  It was bone-chillingly cold on the day that we went and the place felt like a dark, dank dungeon.  My husband and I went in, sat down at a high top table and there was something odd and uncomfortable about it.  The music was horrendous and I felt as if I stepped into some cult meeting place.  We were feeling a bit peckish in addition to wanting some vino, but the menu was totally unappealing and the wine selection uninspiring.  We ended up leaving but the worst part was that we had to tip the valet because we felt so bad for him standing out in the arctic cold!

    Interesting/controversial concept to convert a church into a winery. Who would have thought a trendy wine bar would be in the middle of upper Westchester?

    I found it kind of odd how the valet guys would not let you park your own car, but at the end of the night I saw how many cars they crammed into their tiny parking lot so I guess it makes sense.

    The bartenders are great (if you can grab a hold of them as the place is very busy) and provide a lot of suggestions for their wide selection. Glasses start at around $10 for quality wines. There are a bunch of apps which are quite tasty and can be easily shared among 3-4 people for a snack but are close to $20 each.

    I have been there three times and there have always been groups of 20+ people for birthday parties on the altar. This gets the noise level of the place to be pretty high but it adds to the ambiance of the place. It's funny when you step back and think that this place used to be a church!

    Music has been horrible every time I was there. It's a weird mix of 90s and elevator music. The music is pretty loud and you can even hear it pretty clearly over the loud chatter of people in the place.

    Summary: Cheap this place is not, but if you're in your late 20s-40s looking for a trendy place in the upper Westchester area, this is a good place to pop-in.

    PS Try out the soaps/lotions in the bathrooms, they're pretty nice (and they sell them behind the bar).

    Church converted into a Wine bar! This trendy, sophisticated new spot is the place to be. That atmosphere is as good as it gets. With old chandeliers, beams of wood, stone walls and a bell tower, you'll feel taken back in time. The alter is now converted into a VIP section that is great for small parties or get togethers. The wine selection is great and starts at $8 a glass or just order the bottles to save some money. The menu has small plates, appetizers and is limited right now so don't go hungry, but as this place picks up, I would expect the menu to expand. The crowd is between 25 to 40 yrs old and they usually have some good playlists on. It's a place you'll definilty want to bring friends to.
