Price = 2 (if you can't get any service... what does it matter?)
Experience = -1 (after multiple attempts to give this place a fair shot... I've given up.  The service is consistently super slow and the service persons are full of bad attitude.)

Please take a local's word...  I can't understand how it gets any positive reviews here.

Ate her for lunch and dinner.  Small menu but good, fresh food.  My friends had the "signature chicken salad" and all loved it.  I've liked everything I have had there.  It can definitely get busy in the summers and on weekends, but service has always been friendly.

Got there late on our honeymoon and they re-opened the kitchen for us (or kept it open longer). It was mid-week in a small town, just after 9pm after all. We had a WONDERFUL meal (perfectly prepared steak for me and shrimp and grits for my wife). The chef presented us a wonderful 3 layer chocolate mousse for dessert on the house. Turns out he was recently engaged. Either way the service, the meal, and the ambience were terrific.

We got here at 1:14 pm and received our food at 2:03pm. Our food took almost an hour to get to us (we ordered a club sandwich and a Greek wrap, you didn't even have to COOK anything! ) once we got our food the waitress apologized and gave us a free dessert to go because by this time we ran out of time and had to head back home..although the food was good, the service ruined the whole experience.

The food here is generally delicious. Their burgers are great and every special I have had is excellent. However, the service is extremely hit or miss. On one occasion, our food took an hour to arrive and we were told they were understaffed since they weren't expecting as many patrons as they had. However, this was a Friday night around seven and it was the same amount of patrons they usually have.
They also manually type in the prices and my group has been overcharged by as much as $60.00 because the waitress put too many zeros.

I do go back, usually for lunch or an early dinner since he food is good, but now, I always check my bill.

This place was great. Loved the atmosphere and how it was decorated. Great wine list. Had the fried green tomatoes for an app and they were awesome. The eggplant dish for dinner was amazing, good sauce and the eggplant was cooked to perfection. Great staff as well. I will return next time I am in town!

Loved this place when we lived here.  Pricey food, but it was great and falls into the fine dining experience.

Our food took almost 2 hours! When we asked what was taking so long, the host said they had a huge to go order that was backing up the kitchen. All they did was offer us a free desert, even though when we got our food it was cold. Way overpriced. Will probably never go back.

Southern tier sandwich (fried green tomatoes, goat cheese, bacon) was huge and pretty tasty.  Lobster and shellfish Bisque was pricey ($7 for a small cup), but also tasty.  Wish they had a soup and sandwich combo for lunch that was more affordable.

The food and service were fabulous. The fried green tomatoes were special!  The bacon and cheese complimented it perfectly.  I was actually surprised, the price was not bad for the classy atmosphere and delicious food.  I will be back!

Came here as a walk in with 5 other people and they accommodated us right away. The Maitre D, Phillip was a JOY to listen too, very knowledgeable and hospitable. Manda, our waitress was prompt, sweet and on her game!!! The interiors were simple and elegant in a sorta low country way. the FOOD!!!! OH THE FOOD!!!!!! we ordered the Sea Grits (lobster, shrimp, scallops in a divinely creamy bowl of grits, the Shrimp Creole a beautiful bed of tomato based shrimped out goodness, the tomato Mozzarella salad with pesto....MMMMM! and the strawberry chicken salad with candied pecans and raspberry vinaigrette. My son ordered the Shrimp Diablo and massacred it and hes only 11. Their Mango Ice tea  is garnished with strawberries, lemon and mint. Crab Shrimp dip - heaven in a dish, the three cheese bread - gone in 60 seconds, and fried calamari - never fails.  Yes, we ate like ROCK STARS!
the only bad thing....I live in California ;(
Ill be dreaming of you til my return!

It's so nice to actually eat and not be disappointed after I leave.  The ambience was amazing.  The food was delicious.  I had the strawberry salad.  It was very flavorful and refreshing.  My friend's steak was tender and cooked to perfection.  The calamari and variety of dips were extremely tasty.  I can't wait to take my hubby on a date night to Wren.

First of all, the address Yelp has for the restaurant is not correct.  The address is 210 Carteret St in Beaufort, SC.

We went there for lunch today.  The decor is a combination of down home and avant gard which gives the place an elegant, yet informal, feeling.  The bar is very inviting.  The service was attentive and friendly and our waitperson was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wines.  The wine list for wine by the glass is basic but the labels are excellent as are the wines.

The menu has something for everyone with soups, salads, sandwiches, and regular entrees.  We both ordered the BLT and guacamole sandwich which came with chips that seemed home made.  The sandwiches were large and delicious.  Prices are a bit high but what you get is worth what you pay for in a restaurant of this caliber.

We wii be back and I highly  recommend the restaurant.

We had my brother's wedding rehearsal lunch at Wren on Friday, May 4th.  We didn't book until Wednesday the 2nd, but Cindy was incredibly friendly and very accomodating to us, especially with another bridal party coming in the same day!

She helped us to quickly put together a menu with selections to cover almost any preference or palate.  They made 'to die for' cheddar biscuits and vol-au-vents as a starter and delicious lemon bars and brownies for dessert.

Everything we ordered was outstanding. It was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented.  All the staff including our servers and the hostess were wonderful.  We had a lovely time and can't wait to come back to Beaufort again to dine at Wren!

Spectacular interior design doesn't make up for mediocre food & inexcusably long delays in getting food.  The proprietor obviously has a pile of cash at stake in this very attractive restaurant, and better import a serious chef or see his/her investment go down the toilet fast.  Moral for prospective business owners who have more money than knowledge of the industry:  first get the best chef you can afford, then select the architect, then hire and train the wait staff, and only then open the doors.

This was such a wonderful find in Beaufort!  Charming restaurant and service and the food was all amazing!  Try the lobster and shrimp bisque and their pecan chicken salad was also so good.  We came in with our two children for lunch and even though they don't have a kids menu they offered to prepare some chicken nuggets for our 4 year old.  Will definitely go back!  And their mango iced tea was so refreshing as well!!

This place just isn't very good. I remember stopping here on our previous visit to Beaufort; the staff just didn't seem very happy to see us. We had a drink at the bar and left.

On this trip, we stopped in to grab food to go because we were traveling with our pup and it was storming outside.  The bartender was borderline friendly. We ordered a crab cake and a glass of wine at the bar while we waited. The wine was fine, the crab was awful, out of a can. We took a flatbread and shrimp dinner to go. The mashed potatoes were the only part of the to-go food that was worthy. It's a shame because it's across the street from where we always stay, but we'll try other places next time.

Let's see...burgers took an hour, food was plopped down when it finally arrived, in my first bite a lovely surprise was waiting for me: a long black hair.   No appetite.  Not eating here again!

This place would EASILY get 5 stars from me but the initial reception was a little cold and borderline rude.  My mom and I waited nearly 3~4 minutes while the hostess (and/or manager) and 2 waitresses settled some sort of tip issue...never did one of them acknowledge us and then when the hostess (and/or manager) did, she told us to "make yourself comfortable at the bar while we prepare a table."  I know that sounds _nice_ but it was awkward really...

But hey, forget that crap 'cause the food was CRAAAAAAAAAAZY good!

I ordered their famous Chicken, Pecan and Cranberry with Fruit Salad and it was absolutely perfect.  Fantastic flavor and great presentation.  Chicken salad was easily BEST ever and the salad was fresh...the fruit was near perfect and the strawberries were like butter to a hot knife.

My mom ordered the Ultimate BLT and we shared plates.  Again, easily the BEST BLT I've ever had...the avacado, bacon, tomato and all were thrilled to get into my belly.  LOL.  Not a fan of the chips (only 'cause I don't eat 'em) so I wish we had opted for a different side.

Table service was good...ambiance was great...  Love the decor and setting.  I'll be back for sure.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite restaurants in Beaufort, SC. The decor and atmosphere is amazing and their food is delicious! They have the best flavored Iced Tea to start and a fantastic wine list. The staff is always super friendly and have always been very accommodating to our little guy. (who is 1 year old) I have never been disappointed with a meal or with anything we have ordered here. They also have some cool events to check out during happy hour! Definitely check it out while in Beaufort, SC!

Wren is my favorite place to eat in Beaufort. I always go for the Southern Tier Sandwich! Fried green tomatoes, goat cheese, bacon, tomato relish...wow. Sinful and delicious!

Mom and I had really great service today from Shannon. A must-stop place for a day in beautiful Beaufort!

Very balanced flavors overall. The lobster bisque is rich and creamy. The shrimp Cobb salad tasted as good as it looked. The chicken salad is deservingly the  Wren's signature salad.

We had lunch and the service was friendly but a tad bit slow

Yay!  I'm a fan of their scrumptious food! I would rate Wren 5 stars for their food & atmosphere, but the service is UGH!

We were driving back from a day adventure in Charleston, on our way back to Hilton Head and decided to find dinner in Beaufort.  The town was dark and we couldn't find the restaurant we were looking for and stumbled upon Wren.

It was a Tuesday night, so it wasn't very busy.  We were greeted by their host (Phillip) who seated us and recommended the Fillet.  He said that many customers had raved about how tender it was. He said Kyle would be our server.

I was the only person who had wine, everyone else had tea or water.  We ordered appetizers, all great.  I had the mussels, husband had their creamy tomato basil soup, brother-in-law had spring rolls and sister-in-law had the crab cake.  We loved every bite.  But we had to beg for water and tea refills.  Our server stood at the host stand with her back to us talking to the host Phillip and her co-workers.  We had to ask another server for refills. While we waited for our appetizers, I motioned to our server as she walked by, and had to ask her to take our dinner order.

The main courses were as good as it gets.  My fillet was cooked to perfection, along with the mash potatoes, onion stack and vegetables it was served with.  My husband and brother-in-law had the pecan crusted chicken, one elected for the grits instead of mashed potatoes and the other risotto.  Both were very pleased, as was my sister in law who had Shrimp Diablo

We had to ask for water refills and finally our waitress/server plopped a carafe of ice water in the middle of the table.  We sat a while after we were done with our main course, utensils resting on our plates, when she came over to ask us if we were done.  As she removed our plates, she asked us if we were ready for the check...  No, "Would you like coffee or dessert?"  We obliged her with a, "Yes, bring us the check."

As I told the host, "we tipped her 20%," but she has no business waiting tables.  He said, "Awe, but you did like your fillet didn't you?"

Hope Wren finds better help.  We would certainly go back for the food, but don't want to spend our good money in a restaurant that is not concerned with its service.  Maybe we'll vacation in Beaufort next year and get take-out.

We came into town for a wedding and had dinner here the first night after a 10-hour drive. After we got settled at our hotel (City Loft Hotel), we walked across the street and got drinks and dinner here. Immediately walked in and fell in love with the decor: it's pottery barn meets rustic. The service was excellent and the food was light, refreshing, and packed with quality ingredients and flavor. I got the grilled Caesar, which was presented in a deconstructed way. I also had the mushroom and cheese flatbread topped with herbs, which was also amazing. My husband a pasta dish that I forget the name of, but if wow if they sold the pasta sauce, I'd pay $50 to have it shipped to my house once a year! Overall, excellent all the way around and recommend as one of the top spots in town.

This is the 5th time I've dined at Wren and have been satisfied each time. My parents live in Beaufort and frequent Wren and they love to take out of town guests there for dinner. Although service is always pretty good tonight's server, Nicole, was the best we've had. She was very personable and sweet. We ordered the shrimp & artichoke dip for an appetizer and it was delicious. My parents got the wahoo that was 1 of 3 specials they ran tonight and they both loved it. My boyfriend ordered the veal, pork & beef lasagna and said it was fantastic. I ordered the pasta del mar and it was awesome! Nicole packed up our lefttovers in boxes which she labeled and bagged for us. The wine prices are very reasonable. My mother and my boyfriend each ordered a glass of the exact same pinot noir for $10 that I ordered at a restaurant in Charlotte a few months ago for $16 a glass! But there are plenty of less expensive glasses as well. The delicious white that I ordered was only $7. Another great experience at Wren - thanks Nicole  :)

The sea grits and fried green tomatoes are to die for, you will not be disappointed. It's a lot of food so I suggest splitting the sea grits.

What a great and hip new addition to Beaufort! I love the decor and feel of Wren. It is upscale in a deconstructed minimalist and creative way. We didn't get a chance on our visit to enjoy the bar seating but I will next time. our dinner was fun and delicious! I had the mussels and found them to be very inventive and delicious. They really couldn't give me enough bread to soak up that wonderful sauce! wow. I must also mention that the servings were plentiful. We were stuffed.

I read the other reviews about the service and we didn't have that kind of experience at all. Our server was personable, very helpful and wonderful.

Great restaurant for an intimate date night to an evening our with friends.

The food is still phenomenal, no doubt. Quite possibly the best food you'll find in Beaufort, especially for the price. I will return to Wren again and again due to their delicious menu, no matter what happens.

I just have to point out the seriously crappy service I had upon last visit. Not only was our waitress slow, but the busser attempted to remove plates that were still being gnawed upon (as in, fork on it's way to impale lettuce) and it just totally lacked the finesse you'd expect at this price point. Our server read the specials from a piece of paper with no embellishment: it was as if she had no idea what she was saying, just spouting it out for the closest to hear.

I still have no complaints on the food front but the service could use an upgrade. I know it's difficult to get quality staff in Beaufort but I think Wren is worth it.

Only had drinks so cant vouch for the food. Not a lot of "happening places" of night life in Beaufort but if you are looking for a place to grab drinks after dinner, stop by Wren. Cool interior and really nice bar. The staff wasn't overly personable but it's a convenient place to hang out and a littler nicer/trendier than many around the area.

Most of the items on the menu are well-priced although I had a difficult time reconciling a $10 hot dog (toppings cost extra) and $18 fish/chips in my head and I instead ordered the croque-monsieur for lunch.  Excellent sandwich.  Maybe I should give the hot dog or the fish and chips a try.  The wife ordered a chicken salad sandwich which she enjoyed and I tried.  I'm not a fan of cranberries, but it works in that sandwich.

Inlaws (who are regular customers) ordered Reuben, chicken salad and the seafood chowder. All good.

The down side is that they lost their advertised draft beer special: dogfish IPA.  They really lost it... it wasn't hooked up.  Maybe another customer ran off w/ the keg!!

My wife and I were very excited to head to Wren a few weeks ago.  The location is great, I liked the name and the attitude, and it seemed like a pretty cool/hip place.

We walked in and met two friends at the bar.  My wife and I sat at the bar for at least 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us.  The bar was pretty quiet, not more than 8 people including our party, so there's really no excuse for not saying hello or taking our order right away.

We moved to our table and our server was very polite, seemed very knowledgeable, and was prompt.  We ordered the Tuna app, which was excellent, and the mussels, which had great flavor, but was a very small portion, not more than 15-20 mussels.

My entree was a fish special and was well presented and very well seasoned.  My wife ordered the Scallops on Risotto.  The risotto was very starchy, possibly overcooked, and bland.   Not a great showcase of the chefs talent.

Though the service was good, I was very annoyed when my plate, and both plates of the other couple, were cleared while my wife continued to finish her entree.

The best part of the experience was the wine prices.  You can purchase a bottle from the cafe side of the restaurant and pay $10 in corkage on the restaurant side.  Great wine selection and great prices for wine.

Overall, we were less than amazed.  We spent almost $300 between the four of us and I expect to be very pleased at that price.  I'd guess the entrees were $22-27 and at that price, I expect to be wow'd.

I have heard, but don't know personally, that their lunch is excellent and that they have some of the best chicken salad around.

I'd be willing to give them another chance, but feel that they need some improvement in server training and customer service.
