The couple who run The Wyldwood do it because they love music. Â Particularly singer/songwriter music. Â They provide a beautiful venue (their back yard, lucky devils) free hot dogs, S'mores around the campfire if there isn't a burn ban in effect, air conditioned bathrooms, chairs, blankets and up close and personal music with various artists throughout the season - all for whatever you can pay at the door. Â (They ask $10 per adult, but it isn't required.) Â The kicker is, every single penny of whatever is in the pot at the end of the evening goes to the musician. Â They don't keep a penny - not even to help fund the hot dogs and s'mores.
This is a great way to spend a Saturday night. Â Kids are welcome, music lovers are appreciated and anyone who wants to hang out under the stars and listen to some amazing tunes is invited. Â
Bring a chair and a blanket (they run out sometimes) and a picnic basket with an adult beverage or two and find out what 'ahhhhhh' feels like.
Wyldwood is a best kep secret that is slowly not becoming a secret anymore. I can understand why, an intimate venue to see your favorite artist up close and acoustic, free hot dogs, byob, what more could you want?
The Wyldwood is a couple's home they open up to host various local musicians, you have to get a reservation since seating is limited so think about that before you go. You pay ten, fifteen bucks or whatever you can pay to get in and fine a seat in the grassy yard. They have free hot dogs for the kiddies but I recommend bringing a picnic basket a maybe a bottle of wine or whatever it is you may drink. Because of the limited people, shows at the Wyldwood are up close an personal and feel like, well, you are just hanging out with a musician in a back yard... which you are!
If you have not experienced this place yet I highly recommend it, bring a picnic basket and plop down for an amazing show!
A lovely venue. Â Saw Matt the Electrician last night and it was a great time. Â Large trees provide shade. Â Great acoustics. Â Nice restrooms. Â Had a free hot dog for diner. Â Bring a large group! Â They have the space. Â And while I don't have kids, my friends brought their little ones and they had a fantastic time. Â There is a tree house, a large field and farm animals to admire. Â Bring a blanket or some folding chairs and your favorite drinks for a laid back, low cost night out. Â I'll be going to as many of these shows as I can.
Review Source:Trying to bike anywhere past the Drag and south of Taqueria Arandas is a sore spot with me. Just ask my legs. So when I heard about the concert series held at The Wyldwood, on the fringe of Austin, and its crippling distance away from my home, I was hoping I had some crazy friend who would be willing to chauffeur me to this venue way out in the middle of Nowheresville, Austin (for real -- we saw deer and bunnies cross the road)! Anyway, lucky for me I have fantastic friends, and this venue has been one of the highlights of my Austin experience so far.
The Wyldwood is a charming 3-acres of awesomeness, a property owned by a couple who have tired of the club scene and now bring concerts to their own backyard. Cover is PWYC. All money goes to the artists, as it should be.
I wasn't familiar with the artists that evening, nor were my friends, but with a venue like this, where you can actually sit down under the big Texas stars and just listen to music beside other respectful music fans, it doesn't really matter. Besides, there were free hot dogs and s'mores by the fire. Nothing like free food to entice your customers!
Lawn chairs are available, but in the busier months, you may want to bring your own. Blankets are a must, too. It can get chilly out thar, folks.
