Wynola Pizza Express

Early on a Friday night (just when youd think the food would be in progress and fresh) we had the BBQ rib plate and the Ceasar salad. The salad was decent, the BBQ ribs are essentially warmed over after the order is placed. The meat was dried out and the sauce was below average. The garlic mashed potatoes were dried out too but edible.

It makes sense if you think about. Good ribs take hours to slow cook. I can't imagine in a pizza joint there is much demand for ribs. What they have they need to make early and keep it warm until they sell it.

The pizza looked better than the ribs by far but even that reminded me of Russian pizza. Very thin with not much girth to it. We didn't try it.

The soda fountain and the live music was pretty much the highlight of the meal. .

If you must go, pass on the ribs.

This is a must stop if you are going to Julian.  This is the best place to eat between San Diego and Borrego!  It took me years to stop here, but so glad a friend told me too. I no longer eat in Julian town anymore, always stop at Wynola on the way.

They have the best wood fired pizza!  So many choices, but my favorite is the Cowboy.  My daughters is the Margarita.  I love the Salmon salad - delish!   They have a cute soda machine with custom made sodas just for them.  They have a patio area that is dog friendly.   The people that work their are friendly (although if you go at a busy time, understand that they may be hurried!)  The owners greet you by name after just a few visits.  

The 'Barn' is usually set up for live music on weekends, but its crowded!  I like to sit outside (weather permitting) or in the 'back' with their custom painted murals done by a local artist.

Everything about this place was Awful! We left hungry & disgusted! Don't let the BBQ sign fool you! It was un-eatable.
