Amazing sweet potato tempura roll!!!! Went here for dinner and lunch last week. Lunch was sushi, dinner was hibachi and both we were really impressed with! Our hibachi dinner was very well done, one of the best "performances" I have ever been to in a hibachi restaurant. The chef was very friendly and super entertaining. I got the miso soup, sweet potato roll, California roll and my husband got the steak hibachi. - All of which I would recommend. We will be back.

ps. they also have coupons in the super saver sometimes! Keep an eye out for them!

Their Thai Green Curry brought the heat, but not the flavor.

The sushi isn't very fresh and the service isn't very good.  If those things don't matter to you then this place is for you.

Went to Yi En with a couple of colleagues from work for a quick lunch. Had their sushi bento box special which comes with Miso soup and salad.

There were literally 3 pieces of sushi and 3 pieces of California roll in the box. Taste wise I have had much better at Masa Sushi in Branchburg which i would recommend over this place any day.

Overall not enough value for money considering small portions of at-best average stuff.

Wonderful hibachi. I normally come here for their lunch special, which is just meh (although their thai mango chicken is fantastic). Their hibachi is what gives this place 4 stars. The show was amazing.

I went to Yi En with a friend on a Tuesday for the sushi special - which is a great deal! I got three rolls: spicy california roll, sweet potato tempura roll and spicy crab salad roll. The sweet potato tempura roll was AMAZING, while I thought the other two were good but not great. For dessert, I had the tempura green tea ice cream, which was delicious. I would highly recommend the dessert and the sweet potato tempura roll.

Overall, the service was fast and the food was pretty good. I don't like the fact that they switch waitresses throughout the meal...there was always someone new coming to our table to fill up our drinks, etc. I probably wouldn't come here again on a normal night, but I would come back for the Tuesday special...it's too good of a deal to pass up.

Sushi has not been as good as it was originally.  Still a pretty solid, local choice.

The Thai food is pretty tasty; spicy oil is a great add-on.

Yi En Asian Cuisine has great Hibachi within the Hunterdon Country. This place has it all, Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine blended into one unique, large menu. I will say that I am not too crazy about their Chinese and Thai menu as much as I am with their Hibachi.

Let's start with their Chinese and Thai Menu first:

I went to Yi En during lunch time and they have a lunch special for both Thai and Chinese dishes. I ordered the Mango Chicken, which was pretty good. The sweetness of the mango marries well with the spicy curry-like sauce. I wasn't too crazy about their chicken, but I would re-order it again, with Shrimp instead. The soup that they provide you with is good also, a simple mushroom soup with crispy fried onions and scallions.

My friend had the Pad Thai and was not impressed, She said it tasted like "ketchup" and dry. We also ordered the sushi on their Tuesday Sushi special and was not impressed. The sushi was very dry and off.

    Hibachi:

Hibachi at Yi En is very good. The prices aren't that bad either, pretty reasonable. For $10, you get soup, fried rice, chicken, stir fry veggies, and most importantly, a SHOW!

The cooks are a delight! They are very friendly, entertaining, and very accommodating to your needs. You get a fabulous show and great food along with it. The fried rice, stir fry veggies, and teriyaki chicken are full of flavor and not too greasy either.

All-in-all, Yi En is a great place to go with a group of friends, family, or co-workers for a quick and fun Hibachi lunch. Go there if you want something different from your ordinary lunches.

If you go to a restaurant that has hibachi and sushi options, it makes sense to try them.  Both require pretty specialized chefs; I have no idea why anyone would try Yien for run of the mill Chinese. I've been here a couple of times for sushi and hibachi - both times have been great. The sushi is fresh and good, and the hibachi is exactly what you want. The chefs have a knack for tailoring their performance to their audience, which my older parents and I appreciated. The hibachi meals were very generously portioned, the service was attentive and pleasant. The only downside is the cost, but it's on par with any other hibachi restaurant I've been to. For 3 entrees, we easily eclipsed the three figure mark. Well worth it for a celebration or special night

Blah. Sushi was nasty, gyoza was horrible, the only up side was the tea although they never refilled it. Horrible service. Maybe I caught them on a bad night, or near the end of the night?

This place is actually very good. Fresh sushi and excellent hibachi. I haven't ordered anything other than sushi and hibachi so I can't comment on anything else on the menu (which is large).
This place has been several restaurants in several years, but, this one, thankfully, should make it.
Hibachi is good for families, and it really is good - great fried rice, noodles & veggies - not greasy at all. I wouldn't suggest the non-hibachi main dining room with kids, but I have seen it done succesfully.
I have have had their sushi many times and it has never disappointed. Also, a plus, it's BYOB.
    Highly recommend this one!

I can't say that I hated it, but I also can't say that I loved it either.

We got the food for take-out and we didn't know where to eat, we hadn't tried this place before so it was worth a shot. We sat for a while looking through the menu, I couldn't really decide on anything special. The prices seemed a little too much for me for the vegetarian options. It does have decently big menu. Hibachi, which is cool but we didn't do sit down.

I got the broccoli with rice, I love broccoli so this is usually what I get when I get Chinese food, it was, to my surprise, very tasty. I've had other dishes with just white rice and broccoli (no meat) and it never seems to come out as good as when I've had it in South Jersey. This time I was happy with the taste, it did have lots of taste to it. Steve P. got a red curry, which he did not really enjoy very much. I'm pretty sure he ate some of mine because his wasn't too great.

I think this place is worth trying, maybe sit down is better with hibachi, but I don't think I'd stop by again, nothing bad, but also nothing spectacular for me.

Made it back for the hibachi. Everything was very good. My fiancé thought her chicken was dry but I thought it tasted ok. The Filet Mignon was excellent. It melted in our mouths.

im only giving this place a 4star because compared to all other places around the area, there isn't anything better.  if i had to compare it to my overall food experience, i would have to say this place is a 3.  tuesdays has good 2-3 dollar sushi. one of the better places to find sushi in such a small town. there's nothing spectacular about the sushi, but spicy yellowtail was among my favorites in here. usually i prefer the eel, but the eel doesn't taste that fresh here.

i've tried other dishes like the pineapple fried rice. it was pretty good. very simple but flavorful.  i was not impressed with the thai mango shrimp though.  it was good, but it only comes with 3 pieces of shrimp, which is hardly filling.

overall i would definitely come back for the tuesday sushi deals. where else could you find such cheap sushi in this suburban area?

Great sushi and nice atmosphere.  Tuesday sushi special is a great deal. Hibachi was nice too.

"Whoa nelly, lets not drink the water in that hole, something just aint right."

A simple word of advice, eating a restuarant that wants to be all things to all people is usually going to not tickle the palette.

Fairly easy to find on Rt 22, nice decor, but that is about where I draw the line.

The Chinese portion of the meal:

The Chinese was meh, sweet, unauthentic anything, super sweet, undersized portions.

    Crab rangoons:
Never been anything authentic about these, but I have always loved good ones.
Not this time -  wads of deep fried over sweetened cream cheese....where's the crab?

    Happy Family:
Uch, again sickly sweet, overdone pieces parts of chicken and beef, 2 whole shrimp (21-26 count frozen bagged shrimp by the looks of them) and 1 whole scallop - which to their credit was perfect, and then a little mushroom, bamboo, baby corn, broccoli and 3 snow peas all sliced nearly paper thin.
12" plate, 4" pile, for how much????

    Hot n Sour Soup:
    Here was a shining star.
Great smoky flavor, just thick enough, well stocked with ingredients, and for those of you who are veggies, NOT chicken based stock, so my wife, the vegetarian was thrilled.
    Portion was decent as well.

    Cold Sesame Noodles:
    Oh my yak
phlegmy sesame sauce which was over sweetened on a soba noodle.
6 bucks for that ridiculously small plate (think coffee cup saucer)
Each bit made me gag a little.

I gave up and did not try the wifes' soup, which in her words, "I wont have this again"
Nor did I try the General Tsaos that my friend got, how can you f*ck up orange duck sauce on fried chicken?  Besides, I hate that dish, how 'merican.

    Japanese:
    Sushi

Tobiko with quail egg, egg seemed fresh, the tobiko was a crappy grade, again, sweetened, which defeats the point.
Not a generous portion of flying fish eggs, so this nigiri was mostly rice and pretty darned small.
The wife snapped up the bill (was to be my treat)  so I did not see if the price was for 1 piece or 2, as I specified I wanted 2 pieces.
Alos had the Uni (sea urchin) and was asked if I wanted the quail egg with that too, to which I declined, good Uni is nutty almost smoky, with a very fine grain to it, this was slick, and the flavor was pale, I guess delivered tuesday.....

    They do not serve alcohol.
    They do refill soft drinks
They have a habachi, did not experience it.
They serve Thia/Malay food, have not tried that either.

The service was way off, and they were far from crowded, so I have to say  they just were not attentaive, since it took nearly 15 minutes to place any part of the order from when we sat, no good when you have a 3 yr old with you.
Worse when you have me hungry.

We will give them another chance, but for now, this place for the most part was not worth the time or money

Hunterdon County is starved for good food, particularly ethnic food of all kinds such as Chinese. This spot has potential but I don't think they get enough business to allow them to have fresh food. The dishes seem well-prepared but the ingredients are below par. This is now the third Asian restaurant in this location in about as many years. They all try but don't seem to make it. Yi En has sushi, Chinese, and hibachi.
