My husband and I planned a group outing here for our small group. We planned on dinner @ 7 and Trivia (Monday) at 8.
We got there and it wasn't too busy - some interesting looking people at the bar. They didn't have Pliney in bottles like previous reviewers had said so my husband was pretty bummed about that. The bartender was nice and worked quickly.
When our friends arrived it all went downhill. They started playing music that was way too loud. We ordered some food, which you have to go up to the bar for and it is not convenient at all.
The food service was AWFUL. Food from the same order came out 15 minutes apart. Mine was cold and tasted like it had been microwaved.
One of our friends waited almost an hour for food.
One couple in our group actually left after her husbands food came out ( a burger) and her food NEVER came (all it was was a salad) - they couldn't wait any longer and were very hungry.
Everyone agreed that the food was just "ok". Nothing remarkable at all. Definitely frozen to microwave status.
After all of that we stayed for 1 hour of trivia which was fun - not worth the drive out into the sketchy neighborhood and crappy service.
Beer. Â
Nice people.
Photo booth.
Pool tables.
STAR WARS!!!
Yes, I am a fangirl and I can stand toe to toe with you and debate Han and Greedo's draw speeds, why the VHS versions are better than the DVD versions, why there was more than one Death Star, what happened to the rest of the Empire's fleet after ROTJ, and why we should all be horribly upset at how Kashyyyk was rendered in Episode 3...
Fangirl-iosity aside, this place has several things going for it -
*It's very open, so when there is a larger crowd you don't feel like a sardine.
*The patrons are great! Sure, people have a lot to drink sometimes, but I've yet to feel scared, irritated or intimidated. Â
*There's a photo booth wherein you can take a strip of silly pictures, and even post them on Facebook! Â
*Themed nights ranging from LOTR to new movie releases, where raffle prizes are given out. Â Karaoke is everywhere in the area, but if you come during a weeknight, there's a lot of other fun stuff happening. Â
*The bar staff is friendly! That includes the owners, Paul and Marya. They remember names, and are very warm and welcoming. I've only been there a few times, but every time I have gone, I felt warm and fuzzy - before I had a beer!
The Star Wars paraphernalia is just the icing on the cake. YAY! - during awkward silences, I can stare lustfully at the model of the X-Wing, or remember playing with action figures stored in a Darth Vader bust like the one on the wall, or admire the fan art of Princess Leia, and while waiting for the bathroom, stare at the limited edition Revenge of the Jedi poster. Â
But despite all of the geek eye-candy, Â even if it was just another sports bar, I'd come here for the people and relaxed atmosphere.
Love this place! Good food, good drink prices, awesome staff, and the owner is one cool guy. Watched the Walking Dead season finale here and had a blast. He had it on all the TV's and even replayed it after for me and my friends because we showed up late. I try to make my way here every Monday/Wednesday night!
Review Source:Cozy star wars decked out bar with lots of tables to chit chat and catch up with friends. 2 pool tables, several TV's, karaoke, and I hear there are beer pong materials! You go up to the bar to order your food/drinks. They make their drinks strong :)
There was a cute old couple getting their drank on, they played pool together and sang karaoke too--they weren't bad. It was kinda cute! The rest of the crowd when I went was mostly people in their 20s and 30s.
Pretty cool bar! I told the bartender to pleeease make it strong and he totally did! Karaoke guy was very enthused to get people to sing. I hear the owners are really nice people too.
My coworker and I came by this bar the first time a week ago after meeting the owners, Paul and Marya. They could not have made the experience more pleasant. The atmosphere was extremely fun - who doesn't love a place with Star Wars decor? We received great service, delicious drinks, and could not have been made to feel more welcome, by both employees and customers alike. We will certainly be returning.
Review Source:Went here last night with my husband and friend. We LOVED it here!! The drinks were good and strong. Â Talked to the owners there who were very friendly. Â We will definitely be coming back!!
Oh and did I mention that they have Star Wars memorabilia up?? Yup got my hubby right there lol
I love this place so much. The staff is always great and friendly and they treat us so well. They make delicious drinks with reasonable prices. They have a kitchen! The food is delicious and that's really the one thing missing at other bars. I had my birthday party there last night and they really helped make it special.
Review Source:We went to 7 Stars on a Monday night to participate in Trivia night. This is your typical bar with a subtle Star Wars theme to it. You'll notice Star Wars merchandise placed in different areas of the bar.
Contains 2 pool/billiards tables, digital darts board and plenty of TVs to watch sports on.
Alright everyone who may be thinking about coming to 7 stars..... Here is the TRUTH about ths place... Â People are friendly, drinks are good, and weekend recovery burgers are so good they might arouse you.. Cool, cool place.. This is definitely the "Cheers" of the South Bay....... If you haven't made a friend by the time you leave then just find Justin,..... That guy is AWESOME !!!....
Review Source:Totally LOVE this bar! I just went there for my second time this last Saturday. I booked my sisters 30th birthday there and we were able to reserve the lounge area. It was so much fun! I really enjoy this bar because it is a lot more personal.
The food is great as well as the service! I met the owners and they are AWESOME! Had a great time chatting it up with them and they made sure we were well taken care of. I'm sick and tired of the bars in down town and the people who go there so this place was a breath of fresh air.
This is my new favorite bar to say the least! I am looking forward to this spot being my new place to get a bite to eat and grab some good drinks. I am also looking forward to the bottomless mimosas! :D
Sorry, but I'm just not a fan of Seven Stars.
Came here on a weeknight with Boyfriend and his mom to grab some dinner (Wednesday, I think?). I was really looking forward to the Star Wars decor that everyone raves about, but really, I didn't think it was that great. Just a bunch of random posters that you sort of have to look hard to see. It's super divey (I love dive bars, but this didn't have the cool ambiance of most).
You have to go up to the bar to order, and there was a kid looking for work in front of us who was bugging the manager, so we had to wait for him to step aside before we could order. The food took a really long time to arrive and was mediocre.
I think the most distasteful thing was a group of employees and their friends standing by the place where you order, yelling and swearing. At one point, they told someone to "get the f*ck back in the kitchen". I think they were joking around, but it struck a sour note with me.
I'd like to come back sometime for karaoke and drinks instead of dinner, and hopefully then I'll have nicer things to say about it.
A friend of mine lives a block away so a trip to his house = a trip to the nearest bar. They know him...a little too well there. You can read the other reviews about the hot dogs, the drinks, the nice atmosphere, beer pong, pool, etc.
What I want to focus on is Star Wars. Being a Star Wars fanboy myself, this is one of the greatest bars for me. Just looking around brings back memories and strikes a deep emotional cord with my innermost being. A couple owns this bar and they're two of the nicest people. They're so badass they have a Harley out back!
My friend told me they called it "7 Stars" because they have 7 people in their family - two parents and five children. Stars because of..well..you guessed it! STAR WARS! Love how they're passionate about something and combine it with another passion of theirs.
Came here to grab a drink and something to grub on. Parking is just around the back, but it feels a bit unsafe at night because it's dimly lit.
The ambiance is super chill. Bunch of TVs spread out, some couches, foosball/pool tables. Nice little Starwars memorabilia all over the place.
Got a beer and a California dog. Gourmet style hot dog wrapped with bacon and guacamole. Hella good. It took a bit long to come out though...
Also, if you check-in here on yelp, you get 50% off an appetizer. Nice!
This is my favorite "go to" place in the neighborhood!! The owners and staff treat you like family. So down to earth and friendly. You can go in there to have a happy hour drink or grab some food and not get harrassed or feel uncomfortable. It's not "divey".
They have an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet during football season for $10! Um, hell yeah!! Their menu is not your average, boring "bar menu". They have gourmet burgers, fancy hotdogs, yummy salads and they just added a linguica corndog. I'll take TWO, please!! And they just recently opened their doors for lunch! Yay!!
Cool Star Wars theme throughout. There's nothing like it in the Bay Area!
Too bad I can only give it 5 stars, I wanted to give it 7. :)
Welcome to Santa Clara, where every single bar is a karaoke bar. Â This is no exception.
It's a bit divey, but on the nicer side for a dive bar. Â They even have a few half decent beers across their 6 taps and Pliny the Elder in bottles too. Â Their website is a bit deceptive though, as the bar is definitely not THAT nice looking. Â Also be wary of the business photos on Yelp here (which are obviously put up by the business owners themselves). Â Pretty much most of the photos of this place online are like http://match.com photos girls put up... a bit too done up, shot under optimal lighting, and looking nothing like the drunken mess she'll be in at midnight on a Friday night. Â That pretty much summarizes the typical crowd here too, but also slightly obese and trashy.
Our hero managed to wrangle up a seat at the bar on a busy weekend night. Â Score! Â Or not... Â He then waited for about 10 minutes with an empty counter in front of him, staring at the four or five bartenders hustling and bustling behind the bar. Â This is definitely not a bar to go to if you're not already a regular here.
Parking is kind of a pain here on the weekend even in the lot behind the bar. It's pretty crowded and clogged up with big trucks and clunkers. The crowd inside ranges from gritty to tragic, but might be up your alley if you settle for Craigslist BBWs. Â "7 Stars" sounds about right if the scale is out of a hundred.
PROS:
- $5.50 for a Deschutes beer and $6 for a double well drink is alright. Â They pour their doubles heavy here too.
- Okay beer selection... especially for the area.
CONS:
- Limited parking.
- Service stinks.
- Pretty rough crowd.
- The karaoke makes your ears bleed.
My brother comes here regularly so I decided to try this place out as well.
I came here with my boyfriend after a super long and tiring day. I just wanted to get some food and bounce. We came in, sat at the bar, and ordered 3 hot dogs to split among the two of us. Can I just say...this place serves some of the best hot dogs I have ever had.
Of course my number one hot dog provider will always be costco...i mean. 1 dollar. common. But at this place I am willing to pay the 4-6 bucks per hot dog cuz they are pretty bomb. the wait was a bit long, but armed with some drinks, i didn't mind.
I'm not a fan of bacon, so the California dog is average to me. My brother and boyfriend love it. My favorite is the stadium dog. I like em simple and delicious. the New York is also awesome if you are a sauerkraut lover like me. (:
My boyfriend also ordered a beer while I got a cider. I asked the owner to just give me the most popular cider...and man it was good. I believe it was angry orchard. Yum Yum. (: I love me some hard cider.
Music is loud and they have pool, foosball, and beer pong. Pretty nifty. Also the place is decorated in Star Wars memorabilia. how cool is that?
will definitely make more trips here when i'm in the area. (:
I recently visited 7 Stars for the 2nd time and the service is slow,
the bar was packed and there was only 1 bartender and he was a grouch.
I was excited they had a DJ and he was playing good dance music, then the
karaoke started and appearantly the KJ likes the sound of her own voice because
she sang the first and last song of the night and 2 in between. I thought if you have a big crowd waiting to sing then you should let the patrons sing. She was horrible and rude.
She doesn't like anyone singing her songs and let's it be known when she picks up
the mic and tries to sing over the person singing. They say 3 times a charm, I don't
thinks so. Boo 7 Stars, fail.
I thoroughly enjoy spending time at 7 Stars because Paul and Marya are so REAL, and put effort into making sure that everyone - whether regular or first-timer - who comes through the door enjoys being there as much as they do. Owning the bar is not only their livelihood, it is their passion, and that is evident with every drink they pour and meal they serve. As a female, I can attest to it being a place I can go by myself and feel safe, and welcomed. Thank you, Paul, Marya and the rest of the staff, for your wonderful, fun bar. I appreciate you so much.
The outside doesn't make it look like much, and it's near the Kit Kat, so you may think it's sketchy but it really isn't. The food is tasty and reasonable. It's not a "karaoke bar" so on Friday/Saturday night there generally isn't a huge rotation like other nearby bars. You can reserve tables for a party, but keep in mind it's only open until midnight. It's definitely my new "local".
I absolutely love this place. Â The owners are who really make it stand out amongst other places. They are husband and wife and have worked all aspects in this industry so they really understand what it is the customer is looking for. Â Prices are very reasonable and food is great! The staff is always very friendly and eager to help. Â They have karaoke on Fridays which is a lot of fun.. good acoustics in there. Â Sundays during football season- they have $10 bottomless mimosas until 4pm as well as a $10 all you can eat breakfast buffet. Â We are talking the works- scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, and more! It's great. Oh yeah, they also have the NFL ticket!
Review Source:Met some friends here for Trivia Night. What can I say? It's got very much of a neighborhoody feel, and the bartenders here are super cool.
During Trivia Night, if you raise your hand at the right moment, you can get a dollar drink in a test tube! YEEEE HAH.
Trivia Night will test your pop-know-how, and give you a clue as to how smart your neighbors in Burbank are!
It's nice to have a bar 1 block from your house. Â It's also nice that they have really good food for a bar cause I don't know how to cook.
I usually order one of the hot dogs, a couple of appetizers, several shots of jack, and whatever beers are on happy hour. Â California Dog is awesome, wrapped in bacon and topped with salsa and avocado.
There are pool tables and plenty of couches and seating areas. Â All the Star Wars memorabilia is pretty cool. Â Several TVs around. Â Some interesting games around the bar too, like a basket pong table (variation of beer pong). Â
For a dive bar, this is the classiest one I've been to.
After moving into the neighborhood, I began visiting the bars in the area... and I was disappointed. Â Santana Row had nothing but expensive, noisy, crowded lounges, and everything outside the row was downright scary: sticky floors, shitty beers, creepy alcoholics and druggies, and only the occasional pool table.
I never walked into 7 Stars as the storefront totally threw me off. Â Since the shutters and doors are closed all the time I figured it was closed (which it is, after midnight) or empty. Â But good thing I did... because my search had ended right here!
7 Stars is a great place to hang out, alone or with a crowd. Â They've got an activity going on just about every night (check their Facebook feed for updates!), lots of table games to play, and they're always filled with friendly faces. Â The menu has quite a few things on it... the burgers and wings are great and everything (especially the potato skins) is LOADED with flavor.
As for drinks, the bar staff is always experimenting with recipes. Â Unfortunately there's about as many misses as hits, but you're never stuck with a bad drink. Â Just say the word and you'll get a fresh one... if they have the ingredients. Â (They've run out of "the basics" on several occasions... someone needs to keep inventory, hint, hint!)
The $1 shooters that show up now and again are always yummy. Â They also stock a few local brews and the monthly case of Pliny is definitely the highlight! Â Too bad they're always out of it...
My only qualm with the place is that the staff can be a bit slow. Â Drink orders are usually prompt but the food orders could come out a little quicker. Â And as for clean-up, some nights there are more dirty tables than clean ones... it's a little disappointing because the place is usually pretty clean.
That being said, I'm about to head out to 7 Stars for a late night snack and a beer. Â I can't stay away!
Where to begin??? Â We love coming here. Its pretty much the only bar we go out to anymore in San Jose. The atmosphere is always fun and easy going. The owner Paul is super friendly and makes a point to be out and talking to people. He held us a table last night for a celebration that was thrown and made the night even better. The pool tables and dart boards are always being used and kept in great condition. Â The bathrooms are always clean and you don't feel disgusting after using them. The best part is how much Star Wars he has inside. The decorations, the cut outs, the figures, the lightsabers, and even the movies playing on loop!! Â We love coming here and everytime we bring someone new, they just want to keep coming back. And the mushroom swiss burger cant be beat!
All in all Paul and his wife have done an incredible job getting this place up to being a fun, inviting, and awesome place to spend a night with friends.
If i could rate it 7 stars I would!
$2 wells during happy hour! Their flavored vodkas are apparently always $2 as well, if I heard/remember correctly. We were ready to order at the bar, but as we were putting our coats down, a waitress came over and offered to take our order from our seats although they don't ordinarily do table service. She also gave us a heads up that there would be a pool league there that night, and remembered our names!
The food that we ordered was just standard bar food - though it was super nice of her to not charge me extra for the vegetarian patty substitution. I can't wait to come back for the bottomless mimosas! It's very spacious, and adorably decked out in Star Wars gear. Fortunately my friends are pretty adventurous and won't mind that this is next to a strip club, which I had to park in front of.. but there is a lot you can park in behind the bar that I didn't notice.
On a Saturday night at around 10 the crowd was really young, and although the atmosphere wasn't particularly agro, I would not have been surprised in the least if a gang fight had broken out. Defo not my style. To boot, one of the bar tenders was busy serving -- slowly -- while the other was utterly consumed in his conversation with a patron -- so consumed, in fact, that he couldn't be bothered to take my order. And the hip-hop karaoke (!) dude was just painful. So I beat feet.
"7 Stars"? Is that supposed to be a joke?
I'm very picky about where I "go out" Â I hate waiting in line to get into a bar, and proceeding to wait even longer to order a drink. Â This place is not that. Â It's very spacious, plenty of room for you and anyone else you may have with you to lounge around in one of their couches, or eat at one of their many high top cocktail tables. Â One of if not both of the owners are almost always around, even behind the bar serving up drinks. Â Service is always great, and everyone is very warm and welcoming. Â There's never an Issue with the bar crowd that you may find at other places. Â The food always looks amazing when it comes out of the kitchen, but I've yet to give it a try. Â I hear the Chorizo stuffed mushrooms are sublime. Â Definitely a new local hang out for myself, friends, and co workers.
Just a tip - They have parking behind the bar, so you don't have to park at the pink poodle like I did the first time around.
We came here for the first time last Thursday night around 7pm. The place was quiet and only had a few people sitting at the bar. There were other people setting some things up, which we later found out from our waitress/ the bartender that they were setting up for an art walk in here that started around 8pm. The bartender/ waitress was really nice, and explained to us that the business is new and that tonight was the first time they were going to try serving tables (which I guess, before you would walk up to the bar and order).
She seemed busy and didn't come back after a little while, so we walked up to the bar and ordered a pitcher of beer and their sampler platter (which she said was also new). Good to get a taste of all their appetizers. Everything was pretty average, but I thought the stuffed mushrooms with chorizo were good.
And then we waited. It took a long time to get the platter, and we had finished and waited another 15 minutes or so before they came to take our order. It had gotten busier by then, and the bartender can't be expected to do everything. That's got to be stressful for her- hopefully some hiring is in the owner's future. We placed our diner order, and was told there was only one cook. Well, it looked like to me we were the only ones eating, but just one cook? That poor guy.
It took about an hour for our dinner to come out. We were all hungry. We each ordered a burger- Two of us had the Southwest Burger (I think it was called that), a cheeseburger (which came out wrong- she just wanted cheese and onions and it came out with everything but onions), and I had a bacon cheese burger. We all thought they were good, though. Good flavor and size, but... they were all lukewarm at best. I'm not sure what happened or why they were sitting out long enough to cool down so much, but with one guy running the show, I guess it must be tough. The fries were hot, though.
We walked up to the bar and asked for the check when we were done. I was disappointed. I honestly expected better from all the reviews on Yelp. The atmosphere was fun though, and the decor was great too. Lot of TVs if you're a sports fan, and they have pool and darts. The bartender was really nice and apologetic, I wish I could remember her name. We do want to come back and check it out again, but maybe give them some time to iron a few more wrinkles of their new business first. This place has a lot of potential!
This place is GREAT!!! Â Lots of interesting choices of food. Â Lots of room. Â Lots of games to play. Â Excellent site lines to the televisions. Â Great place to watch a Shark game. Â A vast selection of beers. Â And great bartenders! Â
The owners are doing an amazing job. Â Are their kinks? Â Of course! Â It is their first business. Â But....they are working them out like pros! Â
Give it a chance. Â You will not be disappointed.
Wow after looking at the reviews is goes with out saying that I had a blast at 7stars.
The decor is fun, there is lots of fun games to play, tv everywhere you would want them. They are sharks fans witch I love. I ate like 5 different things an the menu and they where all great bar food with friendly customer, I've meet Marya and Paul both very great people that are working hard doing what they love. ALL BE BACK!
Great neighborhood bar with great food. Â The happy hour specials make it a great place to stop in on my way home from work. Â The sliders are awesome and they're served on sweet hawaiian rolls...YUMMY!! Â
The place has been remodeled with a nice open floor plan and has lots of TVs to watch games and a killer jukebox to crank up the country music!! Â Great place to come hang out, grab a drink and bite to eat. Â Love this place!!
I am very particular about my "dive bars" and the atmosphere's they create. Â A few friends of mine introduced me to this bar a few weeks back and I was blown away on many features this has that others lack.
I frequent many a bars near this area and when I first walked in it was a bit of a shocker. Â The space was huge. Â The TVS were a plenty. Â And the proverbial Nerd-Gasm I had with all the Star Wars stuff was something I did not expect. Â I had been to this bar before it was 7 stars and the face lift that was done truly showed. Â I would have been more appropriate to cal this "The Cantina" but 7 stars is a good name....
The food they serve was top notch the many times I've been there now.
The drinks - I am very particular as I am a big guy but like my tasty drinks. Â They had NON-normal vodkas'. Â Let me explain this. Â Most bars have various Vodkas - kettle one, Absolute, Grey Goose. Â They have my favorite - Three Olives "Dude"and my custom drink can be made when bars hold this. That being said that's why I'm pushing my 5 stars on 7 stars....
They have a pay to play Juke Box but they are playing so many good movies and sports on all their large screen TV's I hardly had to use the Juke Box.
2 pool tables with a different color felt than I've seen.
They also have supplies for Beer Pong?! Seriously Beer Pong!
I am trying to find a negative but for my taste when it comes to bars I need three things:
Good Food
Good Drinks
Good Atmosphere
7 stars landed all of them.
--I half expected the traditional Captain Morgan statue with a Jedi Costume and a Light-saber in place of his sword... Â One can only have A New Hope for this...
Well, what can I say? The rave reviews lured me in........
I have to say that the pictures posted kind of make this place out to look a lot nicer than it is in person. It is definitely a step up from what it looked like before when it had a different name. My first impression was that the place was a little too dimly lit. It was hard to get someone to help you as I only saw one person (who was behind the bar) for at least 15 minutes. And finally, the tables in the back were full of dirty un-bussed tables and what looked like a beer pong tournament that was abandoned...garbage laying around and all.
Like other reviewers (who I am a bit skeptical of because of the such low activity and high marks) I too, thought the food was good. I ordered the mushroom cheeseburger. It was satisfying and I liked the fries too. The best part was the Blue Moon seasonal blend of beer I had.
Maybe things would have been better if my ketchup wasn't high jacked midway through eating my meal. Same goes for my napkin. Or if I got my beer before waiting for 10 minutes until finally asking about it. (This however, was generously taken off my tab and he apologized as well- thanks for that. Now, THAT I did appreciate). Also, everyone in the bar seemed to be having a decent to good time...that is until the DJ came in and started blasting booty beats loud enough to make my ears bleed. The place isn't the Cow Palace guy, come on' ! Although, we were warned that it was going to get loud by the staff.
All in all, I think the people who run this join were genuinely trying but once they work the kinks out, they will be fine.
Started coming here because I heard there were many TV's on the walls. (think sports OK?)
My husband is all football all the time. So Sunday, we come, we hang, we watch darn near EVERY game!!! Â
As the Sunday's pass the service has remained great, and they add new items or services all the time.
$10 bottomless mimosas til 4pm... who does that? 7SB&G does
Last week breakfast buffet, (on Sunday), for $10??? and it was really super good food, (minus the guy that took ALL the bacon) again, the cook whipped up more bacon right away to make sure there were more available for others. (it was funny though)
Great family run business!!
in fact we are going again today!
Thanks 7SB&G for providing a fun, non stuffy place to come on a Sunday to watch the game(s).
a nice surpise in the burbank neighborhood of SJ. The inside is clean and spacious. They have a jukebox and a couple of pool tables. the bartenders were super friendly and mixing up plenty of unique and delicious cocktails. plus the food is delicious and a deal! I got a corndog and fries for $4.00!!
I will totally be coming back :))
7 Stars Bar and Grill has a great, comfortable feel. There are large T.V.s on the wall playing classic movies, or sports. The original artwork on the walls is gorgeous and isn't as overwhelming as the usual neon signs plastered around bars. The have comfy couches and a section of tables good for eating and mingling.
The bartenders are always smiling and ready to have a great time. They are happy to come up with drink concoctions to suit your mood.
The food is delicious! The hamburgers are filling and best paired with onion rings. Make sure to ask for the homemade ketchup, it adds a new flavor to burgers and fries. The pear salad is not only aesthetically pleasing, but will give your taste buds a run for their money. Make sure to ask about when the home-made Portuguese specials will be available.
Come check it out for yourself!
