Didn't change the stars, since for all intents and purposes, the Ace's we like so much is closed... although the name is now on the old Buzz Inn in Smokey Point, where Ace's has evidently expanded their casino business. Â It was our understanding that they would be moving the casino end of things to Buzz Inn but that the Ace's location would remain open as a restaurant and sports bar; as it turns out, seems Buzz and Ace's are just switching locations. (I've been told they're owned by the same folks.) Guess we'll see if Buzz becomes a restaurant "and sports" bar;" if not, it's back to the drawing board to find a local place we like. The old Buzz location, even if it had pool tables (not yet, at least) isn't our speed. Â We really appreciated the (comparatively) modern, locals-without-the-sketch feel to the other place. This place? Â ZERO appeal.
SO disappointing!
I haven't tried the food, but the drinks are good and they have 19 beers on tap including some imports and a few microbrews. The waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and quick, not too knowledgeable on the beer selection, but friendly and quick indeed.
As far as the casino, there are no slot machines, but they do have table games, all cards, and pull tabs. I played blackjack for a while, and the dealer was pretty cool and pretty pretty. There is also a room that I think is mostly for poker.
There are also pool tables and a Friday night pool tournament. Plus there's karaoke on Thursdays if you need to get your sing on.
