My husband and I are in town for an Anniversary getaway and decided to try Ale House. We thought the food was wonderful. It was hot and came out very quickly. Our server John was fantastic. Some of the best service we have had in a long time. My husband had an Avalanche beer that was good but our server brought us an Agave Wheat to sample that we loved and had to go purchase more to take back to our hotel after dinner. We will come back when we return to Grand Junction and hopefully the same server will be here.
Review Source:Bad service. Was in town for a bachlorette weekend and we went here for dinner. First, the food took a long time to come out, then when it did come out it was cold/luke warm. Two of the six orders were messed up and the waitress blamed it on us! Then it took another 10-15 minutes to get the correct order out and the waitress blamed it on the cooks. She never apologized and didn't take anything off our bill. She was rude and slammed our drinks on the table never saying a word to us. She, actually none of the staff, said congrats to the bride and the bride was clearly wearing a sash indicating it was her bachlorette. It was only a group of 6 women, how hard is it to be polite? Needless to say, I would not go back.
Additionally, they do have a big draft beer selection. I got the 471 IPA and was not impressed. For a higher quality beer I expected it to taste like a quality beer. I've had better and cheaper IPAs.
I've avoided this place on all our drives through Grand Junction, mostly because it's "just another Breckenridge Brewery spot"... and well, quite honestly, I find the others all fairly mediocre. Finally decided to give it a shot, and was pretty pleased. I was torn between 3 and 4 starts, the beautiful day and the awesome patio pushed it to the 4.
Beer: the usual suspects at Breckenridge Brewery, plus a few others on draft, lots of bottles. Tried a seasonal Breck brew this time (a Belgian Ale), and it was actually quite delicious. Better than their usuals...
Food: actually better than both the location in Breck and the one downtown. Nothing super special, but solid and fairly reasonably priced.
Service: surprisingly good. Young servers, but super friendly and helpful.
Atmosphere: I'd argue the best of the three locations I've visited. Patio is spacious and super nice.
In conclusion - definitely a decent option if you're in GJ looking for some brews and patio time... !
We found this place through yelp and even though it had bad reviews for food I wanted to check out some different Breckenridge beers so we chanced it. Â The reviews are right on and the food is definitely not good but we were hungry and tired after driving 12 hours and we ate most of what we ordered. Â I guess I should say the food itself wasn't awful it was just off. Â Everything was cold to lukewarm for starters. Â We ordered wings and a burger and fries and shared everything. Â It all came out together which was different and it was all on the cold side. Â The funny thing was even when the bartender asked us if the food was 'ok' he grimaced like he knew it couldn't be good. Â hahaha what?? Â Anyway we ended up with a brown ale, their red and then wanting something sweet we asked the bartender for suggestions and she quickly mixed up a tasty fruity lemonade with strawberry puree. Â Overall service and beers were great, just eat somewhere else beforehand.
Review Source:Recently moved to Junction and had heard great things about the Ale House. Stopped in yesterday for lunch and say at the bar. Â I loved everything about this place. Great location and food and incredibly friendly service.
I had a chicken sandwich with Brie and sautéed apples, which was quite good and  had a Lucky U IPA, which was a nice hoppy IPA.
My friend and I are heading back to the Ale House this evening for dinner. This is a really great place, particularly for a town of this size. Highly recommended.
The server was very friendly. Â Beer prices are good, Â wine not so much. Â The green chili soup was really good. Â The hummus was ok, could have used a bit more zip for being red pepper hummus.
The portion sizes were decent on the chicken fried chicken & the fish -n- chips. Â The chicken fried chicken was good, Â but nothing compares to Bull & Bush. The fish was good & not too greasy but not real flavorful. Â Fries were great.
It's no secret that Grand Junction is a little hard pressed for great eateries and bars. Â My parents moved here about three and a half years ago, and when I come to visit, I am forever in search of the aforementioned. (I am spoiled, living in San Francisco, where you can't throw a rock without hitting a fabulous little place to dine and imbibe.) Â So the thing is, all things considered, I actually really like the Ale House.
For starters, I disagree that the food is underwhelming. Â It's a decent menu--lots of good standard American and pub grub. Â I've been to the Ale House about three or four times, and I've never had anything bad. Â Last night I ordered garlic herb salmon, and it was really good. Â They also stock a full bar and are known for their beer menu. Â I am more of a cocktail girl, and there are plenty to be had--from margaritas to standard wells to fancy cocktails.
There are big screens around the bar where you can watch the game, if that's your thing. Â There's also plenty of bar seating, and last winter, I happened in on some really great live music.
This is one of the better spots I've found in town, and I like hanging out here. Â Check it out if you're in the market for some casual dining and/or drinks.
The Ale House was a fairly underwhelming experience. The space was nice (looks like a pretty new building), and the beers were plentiful, but the food really lacked. I had the sweet potato chips (at the suggestion of other reviews) and found them to be like trying to eat small pieces of steel. I also had a pepper chicken sandwich with guac, which was VERY bland.
They have a rotating beer on tap every day that's only $2.50 for a pint, so that was a pretty good deal. The nice bar area and the beer selection makes it a nice watering hole, but I would suggest getting food elsewhere.
News flash, if you ask for a medium rare or rare burger here, they will cook it that way! Why is this news? Because I've ordered medium rare burgers from all sorts of places in town from 626 to Chile's and you always get medium to medium well. How hard is it to cook a burger, or a steak for that matter, to order?
I ordered mine rare and it was rare! Oh yeah! They need to replace the biggest TV in the room, the one behind the bar though. It looks like crapola.
Stopped in for a quick "flight" and some apps before heading back to Denver. Beers were good but because they are such a large bottler now you can get their beer most anywhere in CO so go for the seasonal or specialty beers if you need a "special" fix. The red pepper hummus and the artichoke dip we had to snack on were both nice beer fodder. I get the vibe that I'm eating/drinking in a big chain type joint here so for me some of the heart of course is missing. The staff was up to snuff though so it's a toss up between 3 and 4 stars for me...
Review Source:Meh. I only had a limited amount of time in Grand Junction to catch a flight back home. I came to this restaurant to experience a Colorado microbrewery before I headed back to California. Unfortunately Ale House didn't blow me out of the water, but it's not like it was absolutely horrible.
I ordered a buffalo burger and their signature IPA. When in Colorado, right?
The IPA was good, don't get me wrong, but maybe I expected more out of a Colorado brewery? Isn't that what Colorado is famous for? I can get the same quality at a microbrew in California. Better than the shit that's been sitting in a bottle in the market forever, but not the best beer I've ever had, either. It was hoppy and crisp. Good enough.
My burger was a disappointment. I ask for rare, I get medium well. If you're going to cook my burger medium well anyway, why ask me how I want it? Seriously I said to my server I wanted the burger freshly dead. Ugh. Everything else was so plain on it. Whoopie.
I'm not even going to touch the subject of a "Cuban" sandwich because I'm Cuban and when I see shit labeled Cuban + added jalapeno (among other non-Cuban ingredients) makes me very angry.
My boyfriend ordered the brautwust and said it was good enough.
I wish I would have done my research to see if there was better in Grand Junction... For the prices this place charges, the food should be a lot better.
We had a delicious meal here and good service. Â The outside looked inviting, but it was too hot this particular day. Â We didn't care for the ice tea, it did not taste brewed, (yes we are fussy ice tea drinkers) our waiter had no trouble with substituting our tea for a soda. Â We will definitely eat here again when we are passing through.
Review Source:This gets a high rating for the following reasons:
1. Great outside area with Music on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
2. Large section of micro-brews
3. Sweet Potato Chips
4. Ample TV screens in the Bar Area
5. Friday night happy hour place to be for the buzz you crave.
6. 50% off Pizza after 10 pm (late night munchies)
Nice menu from Meatloaf to Bratwurst...
Pleasantly surprised by this establishment. I would give them a higher rating but will reserve that for another visit. The welcoming hostess, friendly atmosphere and courteous wait staff all deserve it, however a couple of flaws out of the kitchen cause hesitation. They were resolved without question, quickly, however it should never have left the kitchen. The meatloaf, mashes potatoes ans gravy was delicious once I was served a fresh plate unlike the first that had hard corners. Not dry or a little over done but knife knocking hard like a rock. The vegetables medley was cooked exceptionally well, none of them were soggy or overcooked, and the flavors were exquisite. Finishing off with the  tasty custard and raspberry desert was ideal.
Review Source:On a recommendation, I went to the Ale House for a couple of beers and a dinner. I sat down at the bar, and waited for the bartender to greet me, offer to get me something to drink or a menu..... just the service that I would get anywhere else. Â Â After 10 minutes of being ignored, I left.
Review Source:A great place to eat! Â Very good grilled food! Â Good cheifs! Â A nice atmosphere. Â Awesome pool tables (good felt).
My wife tried the buffalo burger here (first time for her to try buffalo) and she is hooked on buffalo meat. Â She gets buffalo meat all the time from Trader Joes and Vitamin Cottage.
Super service! awesome patio area which they also have local bands out on! great place to hang out and have a few drinks! They have a bar out on the patio saving you from having to walk in and out all night! very clean place! Appetizers are good! Love the atmosphere! Awesome inside bar and great pool table area! Also have quieter areas for a more intimate dinner.
Review Source:Solid brewhouse but nothing really special to report. As out-of-towner hoppy beer fans from Pacific Northwest beer backgrounds, we were underwhelmed with the IPA, red and even the pale ale. The pizza was pretty good though as were our salads. Our service wasn't too stellar and the crowd was rather boisterous, so this wasn't a four star joint.
Review Source:Food - 2/5
Service - 4/5
Atmosphere - 3/5
Price - 3/5
Here for Dinner - Bill was $? co-worker bought.
Service was great and honest about what to get and what to avoid.
Great beer selection for those that appreciate craft-beer. Â Mostly local Colorado beers with a lot of Breckenridge on tap. Â They also offer a full bar. Â Our server was quite friendly and was willing to share her opinions on the menu after we told her we weren't from around here.
She recommended the Chicken Marsala or the Jerk Chicken for entrees.
I ordered the Marsala and my coworker ordered the Jerk. Â The restaurant wasn't very busy, 20% full, and the food came out quick - w/in 20mins of ordering - and a salad before the main.
I wasn't expecting the my chicken to be so heavily breaded and the marsala was just poured on top of a rather uninteresting breaded chicken breast. Â The marsala was weak with little to no real tang you'd expect from the wine in the sauce. Â The mushrooms were okay, the smashed potatoes were good, the green beans tasted like lighter fluid (??? don't know how you do that) and the meat itself was bland.
My suggestion would be to brine the chicken, season the breading (salt is your friend!) and make a fresh marsala daily.
The Jerk chicken was nice and flavorful - I'd rather have ordered that.
I'm usually very pleased with the food, drink, and service here. Â I've never ordered the beer, but I've heard it's great. Â I've had their mojitos, and they are really good.
I love their Ahi Tuna fingers (it's an appetizers, but I usually order it as an entree, and it's more than enough for me), sweet potato chips, and pizza. Â My friends are always pleased with their dishes when we go for drinks, appetizers, or dinner.
The service can be kind of hit or miss, but I love the patio in the summer!
Good things get really great at the Ale House.
Yay's:
-$2.50 beer of the day that rotates around their taps.
-Tasty spinach artichoke dip (I prefer w/o crab, it ain't real anyway)
-ANY of their Ahi Tuna dishes (1. Seared Ahi Tuna Sandwich 2. Wasabi Ahi Tuna Wrap 3. Ahi Tuna Fingers)
-Green Chili (Best that's not homemade)
-Brewfest during the summer months.
- BEST OUTSIDE GRASSY DINING in the GeeJ (that has a stage and outside bar too).
- Happy Hour Pizza (half off) from 4-6 and 10-12.
- They employ my favorite bartenders in town! They remember my drinks, my name, and are great to chat with.
Nay's:
-No AT&T cell service inside... I don't know what the heck it is about that joint, but you are fresh out of luck if you want to make a phone call or get a text inside. (Look for me waving my phone in the air) ((like I just don't care, heyy oh!))
-Sometimes their sweet potato chips aren't really cooked very well. They can be a big hit or miss.
-That's really all I got... It's pretty great.
Notes:
-Free wifi, just ask your server to find someone who actually remembers the password, haha.
-They have TV's all over the place inside and at the bar and they are even willing to change it to another game. There are a few places that don't have it so close, for that more intimate meal.
-AND if it's a busy weekend, and you want to sit outside, there is a hostess stand out there that you need to see to be seated.
Stopped into the Ale house for a late lunch the other day. Â The weather in Junction was outstanding and we were able to sit outside on the patio. Â Fantastic atmosphere and weather. Â The menu is pretty typical bar fare. Â I had a Cobb Salad that was fresh and delicious. Â The guy I was with had a Tri Tip French dip and it looked pretty good as well. Â There are not a lot of real great options in Grand Junction, but this one stands out above the rest by quite a large margin.
Review Source:After going to this great brew pub for my daughters four years in college I have to say it always impresses me. We had two large gatherings there last week for graduation... impromptu with 10+ people both time and they were able to accommodate us wonderfully and give us fantastic service and great food.
Among our favorites were: Whatever beer special they are having $2.50 for a pint of Colorado beer. Score..
Gigantic pizzas.. just the thing for growing college boys
Fantastic salads
Fish and chips and fish tacos are a favorite
BLAT Sandwich (Bacon Lettuce Avocado and Tomato) - these sustained our daughter through four years of study
Huge juicy burgers
Seasoned fries
Add all this to a fun outside grassy knoll to sit on in lawn chair and enjoy some munchies and a frosty mug of beer. We are going to miss it.
Food tasted great! Enough food bang for your buck!
Many great beer options, including a Hard Cider :) my favorite.
I had the small portion of Ribs. Awesome tender flavor, and the garlic mashed potatoes were yummy too. I loved them so much, I practically ate the plate too.
Good vibes, pool table, bar, etc. But def nice enough of a place to bring a date because it is an actual large restaurant.
Very packed, but we were seated right away. We did have to wait a bit for our waiter to become available to take our order.
Next time I'm in town, this hoppin' joint will be first on my list.
I know this is a brewery, and it does have brewery fare, but I've got to say this by far has some of the best food in Grand Junction. The brewery style restaurant is actually pretty up-scale and has some nice ambiance to it. I've had the bad luck to always order something so-so. But everything my husband has ordered has always been yummy. His favorite being the jamaican pork. Very tender, seasoned well, and just savory. I've seen the outdoor seating, which looks really nice but haven't had the fortune of taking advantage of it.
Definitely try this place, it shouldn't disappoint. :)
I've only been out to eat to a few restaurants in Grand Junction. This town still has a lot of growing to do in it's dining selections. HOWEVER, I do have to say that my lunch at the Ale House was quite good.
The house made sweet potato chips served with the sandwiches are quite good. And I was very happy with my pint of beer. They generally have many good, house brewed (tho not on the premises) draft beers.
Service was good. Atmosphere is pleasant. There's plenty of elbow room. I really can't think of anything negative to say.
Hunting for a decent meal in GJ? Add the Ale House to your short list.
So, I had been telling my husband about the Ale House for years, since I was introduced to it a few years ago by my good friend, Jeff Pine, who sings there on Wednesday nights. We decided to use our 20th wedding anniversary to road-trip out to Grand Junction and spend the evening here with our old friend. It was every bit as good as I remembered, J. was loving the food and brews and we got to spend an evening listening to one of our favorite vocalists. It just doesn't get better than this.
If you have a chance to go, definitely make it on a Wednesday night. Jeff is unbelieveably good and the food is outstanding brewery grub. I just wish we could somehow transport the Ale House and especially Jeff to Scottsdale ;-D
A very popular local watering and grazing restaurant. Lots of beers to pick from, an outstanding menu with a huge variety. The Grande Nachos are an excellent way to start your feast. The outside patio and deck are the place to enjoy Colorado sunshine or moon lit evenings. If a band call "Terry Spark and Friends" is playing move inside. They are terrible and can ruin a fun night. On Wednesday night local troubadour Jeff Pine entertains...he's fantastic. My only complaint with the outside serving area of the Ale House is that smoking is permitted in some areas. No matter where you sit the pollutants drift to the non smoking area. They should ban all smoking and then get a five star rating. Inside there are lots of TVs, an outstanding bar with great ambiance.
As a side light, if you get a server named Kristen (with an E), consider yourself extremely lucky. She is an excellent server, friendly, responsive, and customer oriented. She gets five stars.
