This is now Andy's 49er, with new kitchen staff. Our first visit but it won't be our last.
Casual dining and comfortable family-friendly atmosphere. Our server was friendly and brought cold drinks quickly. $1 Stella Artois! Our kids meals came out quickly. Their fries had good texture and flavor. They were treated to a special chocolate mousse for dessert that was clearly made from scratch. Nice touch!
The adults meals were all well-seasoned and properly cooked. These are not bikini-season portions!! A candied-pecan pesto chicken pasta had a nice balance of sweet and salt. Buffalo wings had some juicy meat and spice that stayed on our lips for a while. The catch of the day was a crispy skin redfish in a savory tomato basil sauce with sautéed spinach and mushrooms. The fish was executed very well. Moist flesh and crispy skin, what more can you ask for in a fresh piece of fish? My husband had a house specialty "ponyshoe"... a serious undertaking. Open-faced burger on Texas toast topped with French fries and a real cheese cheese sauce. Stupid good.
I think our total bill came to just over $50.
Make the time to go north of the freeway and check out this undiscovered new spot!
This place used to be Look-Out 49, but now under new management and a new name: Flare Bar and Grill. Â The menu is over priced. Â I had their special for the day: Shrimp & Alligator Sausage over Linguine. Â The pasta was sticky and the meal itself was bland. Â We asked our server if their special included a starter salad and we were told that it did. Â We were billed for it separately when the check came. Â First time I stiffed a waitress in ages. Â I will not be going back.
