Truly great food and atmosphere.  The fettuccine with fried oysters is incredible.

Didnt even get a chance to try the food, the bartender acted like a 14y/o gangster w horrible customer service! After waiting 20 min to try and order, I drank my skunky draft beer and finally was able to order my check without slapping this kid. 10minutes later he was reminded that I was still waiting for the check by me staring daggars at him. If you go, avoid the bar, and the draft beer

I've been coming to Gulfport for work reasons since 2009.  Salute was one of the few places open then.  There're a lot more options now, but Salute is still one of my favorites.

The food's consistently good.  Not spectacular, and sometimes just competent, but I've never had a bad meal there.  The service has always been terrific, and the bread is wonderful.  

The last two trips, I've had the catfish supreme (crispy golden catfish topped with seafood, accompanied by pasta) and the ribeye steak, which also was served with pasta.  Surprisingly, for an Italian place, the pasta sauce was the weak point of both meals.  The alfredo had no flavor, and the marinara needed some.  But the quality of the fish and the skill with which it was fried made up for that.  Likewise, the steak was tender and flavorful, although I wish they could get a better crust on it.  Still, for a non-steakhouse, they did a good job.

Salute's one of our favorite places to eat and drink when we're on the coast, and I'm sure we'll be back.
