I went there last Friday for a early afternoon lunch. The service is great. My server was very friendly and upbeat. He explained all my options for the sweet drinks that I like and low calorie meal options. I ordered the 2 for $10.99, chicken pasta and half sirloin steak. Small portions but the best of both worlds for that reasonable price. Plus the food came out very quickly. This location is wonderful and you always see management coming around to each table at the end to make sure everything is ok. Many TGI Fridays I visit have the manager hiding in the back out of sight. Love the attentiveness that this restaurant gives its customers. Spacious private parking lot also with TO GO takeout service. Located a few blocks away from New Hyde Park road on Jericho Turnpike.
Review Source:I had almost given up in this place. Even though it's the closest Applebees to me, the last two times I went there I had exceptionally bad service: got seated next to what appeared to be a family reunion so the waitress for that section was so busy the brought a girl from another section who clearly could not care less that we got our appetizers after our entrees, incredibly long wait, whenever we asked for anything she would disappear for at least 20 mins. I decided to give the place one last chance because it's just so convenient! The difference was 180 degrees. Everyone was so welcoming and our waiter Mike was amazing. So prompt, informative, funny, and kept checking in with us. Fully redeemed this location for me.
Review Source:What can I say that my tip didn't express. The food here is not great, it gets loud and it gets crowded. But I still like Applebee's! The food is consistent, they have a good low calorie menu, the beer selection is good and the service is always good. I like that a manager comes to the table at least once per meal to make sure everything is okay. Another nice touch is that when the server brings a steak they ask you to check to make sure it's cooked the way you want it. I also like the way this chain goes to great length's to be a local place. There are more local pictures hanging here than any local place I know of.
Review Source:Service is slow, manager needs to be retrained. This location definitely is not like others and they are lucky there is only a McDonald's down the street and no other resturant chain nearby. You end up waiting too long and they seem to be short staffed so they don't want to use all the tables
Review Source:I took my daughter and friends here after a movie one night. Table was dirty and they were out of a few things we tried to order. I ordered the oriental salad minus the chicken as I don't eat meat. I was served a plate of lettuce minus everything with a side cup of dressing. We never went back. Â Not sure how this location stays in business.
Review Source:I went there on Friday night for a birthday celebration and I really enjoyed it! The restaurant was packed but we could spend the 20 minutes wait for a table at the bar and that was great as we could talk, drink a beer and watch the games on the big screens.
I ordered the bourbon street steak, and it was just fantastic, juicy and testy yet not salty, and I love that it was served on a hot plate! For $17, that's great value.
Our waitress was very efficient and friendly too, so why did I just give 4 stars? I had a great meal, yet I wasn't impressed by the overall choice on the menu, I wish they had a smaller but better selection.
If other options are available to you: opt out of Applebees - especially this one.
I rolled in here late one night hoping for a couple of good drinks and half-priced appetizers. We seated ourselves at the filthy bar-that we had to wipe down ourselves-because half of the place was already pre-closed and the one bartender was too busy schmoozing with some regulars. We ordered some drinks (a blended margarita was one) and was a little mad to see that the drink served to us was already sitting in a blender (presumably because someone else ordered it before us and the bartender made too much). We couldn't voice our objection because the bartender quickly ran back to plastic wrapping the open liqueur bottles after she dropped our drinks off.
Our next interaction with a staff member was when a manager (I assume - because he had a tie on) brought out our food without any utensils. Fortunately most of our food didn't need utensils (burgers, wings, mozzarella sticks) so we made due. Eventually the bartender noticed us trying to flag her down and brought us utensils and napkins.
I guess late-night half-priced apps and drinks will also get you half the service. Never again.
I frequent this Applebee's all the time with my friends for some half off apps and drinks so I have a bit of a fond attachment to this specific location. Â That aside, its Applebees, what do you really need to know?
The service in this location changes all the time and the servers I've had fall on both ends of the spectrum with some being extremely friendly and attentive while the other half are either lazy or rude to customers. One server actually tried making me feel guilty for asking for separate checks as if it was a huge burden on his part. Come here often enough and you'll figure out who you want serving your table.
Food is average at best. Its your classic options of burgers, sandwiches, some pasta-ish dishes and some semi-tex mex. Like I said in the beginning, I come here for the appetizers, which for half off are usually satisfying and sometimes pretty good. My go to is usually the cheeseburger sliders, which can sometimes be well overcooked, but they normally do not disappoint and neither does the quesadilla option either. For a single person the portion is enough to be a meal. Paying full price for this would not be worth it though, especially if you're just having it as a meal. The wings are good too, especially the sweet and spicy and honey bbq sauces, but you can tell when eating them that a lot of the food was more than likely sitting in a freezer pre-made for who knows how long. If I'm ordering an actual entree, their burgers are decent. Â
This is probably one of the better Applebees locations in Nassau since each one is definitely not created equal and so long as their half off app deal stays, I will continue coming back even if the food is only average.
this place sucks,,,went to watch the knicks game....we sat ourself..took 20 minutes b4 a employee even looked at us....finally get our meal and we couldnt help but to watch an employee busy watching the game on the t.v screen, another employee constantly wipe her nose as she wrapping the utensils..and manager walkin back n forth as if nothing....1/2 off drinks and appetizers were not worth at all...i rather pay top $$$$ for good service, food, and drinks......hope i dont end up wiith samonella...
Review Source:One of my fave Apple bees. That could be because I come here the most and a friend of mine works here...but no.that's not why.
It's my fave because I've never encountered not one single snotty worker here. They probably exist...but I never get them. I love that! Ive been in here many times.
The food always tastes fresh and I've had my fair share of free refills on things they weren't supposed to be refilling. The staff is very nice..even late at night. That's always important. I like to know that I can crawl in here right before closing and they are still going to be pleasant with me.
One particular late night I came in here with my god bother and his friend. We ordered drinks and desserts. Before we ordered our waitress politely let us know that the grill would be closing soon so to let us know soon if we wanted something. Â She was very polite and chipper even so late at night. She didn't rush us and checked on us numerous times.
Drinks were strong. I didn't have but a sip and I knew what it was about lol my brothers friend was nice and tipsy after his first lit. And he had 2, buy one get ones! Can't beat that.
Dessert was delicious as usual. I had a maple butter blondie. Loveeeeee it. It was a good night and I felt like she would have let us sleep there if we wanted. She was sweet.
Aside from that time, the servers are always nice and attentive. If you're looking for a nice apple bees this the one.
I was set to go to another restaurant for lunch. Â However it was closed for a private party. Â We decided to go to applebees in new hyde park. Â A bad choice. Â As soon as the door opened the "Hostess " didnt great us, Â no hello or welcome to Applebees.
She was rude and unprofessional. At that point i should of left. Â My stomach was starting to eat itself. Â So we stayed. Â The wait was brief and our waitress was great is the only reason I gave this place 2 stars. Â
Onto the food. Â We ordered the strawberry mojito.. yuck. Â It was terrible. Â It was watered down and nasty. Â We sent it back and got a Margarita.. much better. Â I had the sangria. Â It was okay. Â Weak though. Â I had the spinach dip and chicken carbonara. So so so bland. Â We also had the linguine and meatballs. Â That was good. Â A little to Salty. Â I won't go back ever.
I went to this Applebees last night for dinner after a rousing bowling game at Strike and had a really satisfying meal there. I used to dislike Applebees with a passion. Almost as much as I dislike the fact that T.G.I. Fridays has landed in Union Square - read my commentary on that here: http://bit.ly/b49wKh) but last night was my best meal at Applebees by far.
I ordered a Kiwi flavored Iced Tea and the New Grilled Shrimp and Island Rice off the less than 550 calorie menu and it was surprisingly tasty in a very good way. The shrimp had a nice spicy kick to it that blended nicely with the citrus lime rice. The rice even had little bits of pineapple in it which gave it a really nice sweet flavor. For dessert I opted for the Chocolate Mouse. A perfect serving of decadent chocolate mouse topped with Oreo crumbles. Yummy!
The service was good and fairly prompt though getting our drinks took a little longer than I would have liked but then again, as a city dweller I feel everything should be instant. We also arrived around 7:15 with a party of 5 and were seated promptly on a Saturday evening which was definitely a plus. Overall, I'm a fan of this particular Applebees. Good experience here.
There is a HUGE parking lot. Easy to find parking on even the busiest of nights.
On a Sunday night, the place was moderately busy for the neighborhood it's in, really a residential area with family dinner being key on Sunday nights so...there was a fairly big crowd this night.
Got greeted and seated immediately on opening the door. Nice.
Introduced to our server on sliding into the booth. Fast.
Got beverage orders upon opening the menu. Whew!
Ordered food and then waited a bit...not too long but considering everything that was working up to this moment, seemed like an eternity. LOL
But in any event, the food came promptly, there are tv's everywhere so even when you aren't talking with your dining partners, you've got something to catch your eye and chat about. There are tv's on every single wall and angle you can imagine in this place and yet, the noise level is not out of control. That's really cool.
AND, I like that when they do their birthday clap and chant thing it isn't intrusive on everyone else in the place but it's noisy enough to make a big deal for the birthday person in the spotlight. That's fun!
Oriental chicken salad was a little salty but otherwise with all the components I liked it. I think it could have used some mandarin oranges on it but otherwise it was pretty crunchy and the dressing was light. I'd get it again.
I'll be back.
Disappointing is the best word to describe this location. Service is slow and food portions are not consistent with other locations. Â A simple dinner on the 2 for $20 keep me here for 2 hours plus, not really acceptable for this type of meal. Skip this place and either try a different location or head to a Ruby Tuesday where their menu and food quality have been improved.
Review Source:You would think that a place with the word "Neighborhood" in it's name would have service as its mantra but it seems that this was forgotten the night I visited. Â The place was moderately busy for a Saturday night. Â Nothing out of the ordinary that a supposedly competent waitstaff couldn't handle. Â I was proven quite wrong.
After being seated, it took forever for someone to wait our table. Â I was actually waving my hands back and forth to catch someone's attention to no avail. Â A certain Rosa B. came to take our order and was curt, unpleasant, and egregiously without a smile. Â There was an awesome 2 fer 1 drink special, so we got an Amstel Light and Yuengling. Â When they came, to my surprise, she brought two Amstels and two Yuenglings. Â She explained that's what I ordered and I said that I wanted the 2:1, not 4:2. Â I asked if we could keep one of each and she said no, it's one or the other. Â This entire exchange was done without any Kind Regards to us, the customers. Â This pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night.
The beer was completely watered down, to which my friend inquired, isn't draft beer supposed to be better than bottled? Â Yes, it is; and waitresses are supposed to serve you, not make you feel bad for ordering food. Â
Their 2 for $20 deal is actually pretty sick, and if you combine that with the half-off appetizers, you can get stuffed pretty quickly. Â Nothing on the menu is really bad, but nothing is really worth noting either. Â I will let you know though, that the Sweet and Spicy sauce is a must for the ribs.
Overall, I may go back if I'm looking for cheap food, but if I get Rosa B., I will definitely be asking for a different server. Â After receiving such awesome service, not much imagination is required to decipher what the "B" stands for in her name, but after writing this, I realize that you probably know what it stands for now too.
Neighborhood grill.
I really wanted soup and a sandwich - maybe I'm preggers but that is what I was craving. Â So, I debated for a bit but went to this Applebee's location as they have that exact combo for lunch.
The place was actually pretty busy except for the bar area- which is what I made a beeline for. Â The guy working the bar was fine if a little over zealous in his wanting to get me to order - like my ass hadn't hit the seat and he was tossing all these appetizer suggestions at me.
He settled down after that and all was good- lunch came right out, I watched the market take a crap on the TV's around the bar and then went back to work.
