Tonight I was served the Monday night special...a ground beef burrito and the meat was spoiled. Â After two bites, I cut the burrito open and the smell of the rotten meat was terrible. Â Beware of ordering the specials. Â I think they use what's left over and then serve it up at a deep discount of $7 instead of the standard $12.95 dinner price.
I would recommend Toto's in Running Springs or Papagayos in Lake Arrowhead when in our mountain community. The food has always been fresh and the service is much better too.
We have tried this place three times. The first two were just barely okay but the third, and final, time was a deal breaker. We ordered a California burrito and fish tacos. We subbed chicken in the burrito and it was so dry and hard that you could hear it hit the plate when you dropped a piece. It was basically shredded chicken jerky. The fish tacos were literally fish sticks from a box. The food was so disgusting that we couldn't even eat it. Yet ANOTHER mtn restaurant to scratch off the list. Yuck.
Review Source:Arturos is definitely  underrated on Yelp, so I am glad I tried this place on a recent trip to the area. The restaurant is clean and pleasant if you're eating there (especially compared to many restaurants in the area which look rundown),  and service was excellent. The food is what matters most, and Arturos did not disappoint. I had a taco plate and my wife had soup & fajitas. All were fantastic! I am born and raised in So. California where we have so many great Mexican food restaurants, and I know the good from the bad.
Review Source:It is said that you can tell how good a Mexican Restaurant's food is by how good the cheese enchiladas are. Arturo's cheese enchiladas were not tasty to where I would consider even average. If you are used to really good Mexican food I would try the other Mexican places in town before going to Arturo's :(
Review Source:This place used to be located in a very small shack on the rim. Â I like the move to the bigger location. Â The food is really good, and they serve you pretty fast.
The only complaint I have is that they do not place the (napkin, fork, spoon, knife) on the tables. Â They always have to be reminded of it. Â So many times you'll get your food, but you have to ask for sliverware, while your food is getting cold.
Not sure why they do this. Â PLUS, we have sat down at dirty tables a few times. Â This is only one of the reasons why EVERY RESTAURANT in the world "CLEANS" a table first then places the sliverware immediately. Â Please take note Arturos.
I have eaten at Arturos consistently for over 10 years - following them from one location to the next .. enduring their losing a lease for several months then back in business again!! There's a reason they kept comng back and thriving - it's the best Mexican food in the area - up or down the "Hill!" Especially great are their chili rellenos but the huge burritos are also a find! They do need to invest in a fresh-brewed ice tea machine then I'ld be there even more!
Review Source:I just finished a decent dinner at Arturo's. Of course we started with chips and salsa. We would have liked the chips warm but they were ok. I asked for their green verde salsa. It was warm and really good. The chile verde dinner was good but could have been better had the spices been a little more creative. Basically a bit bland. Others had chilli relleno and felt the same that it needed more flavor. We will give them another try and see how/it goes. By the way the candy store next door is good.
Review Source:Decent Mexican food for the mountains. We frequent this place on Taco Tuesdays -- which they just raised the price of to $2. The service is hit or miss. Last week we got to sit through a heated argument between the three servers over a big tip that a previous party left. That was lovely. Ironically, we ended up getting overcharged on our bill. That incident probably bumped them from 4 to 3 stars for me. However, that was the first time we've experienced something like that in the many times we have eaten here. On a positive note, the food usually is served fairly quick.
Review Source:Took a sunday drive up to the Lake Arrowhead area and stumbled across this local gem...Arturo's Sweet Shop. I got a peanut caramel apple (sliced) and my husband got a double scoop chocolate ice-cream with a cone that had caramel inside of it. The store had a nice variety of sweet choices and the young lady serving us was pleasant. Next time we visit Arturo's we will dine at the restaurant. That will be our next review.
Review Source:I take my family here on a weekly basis for GREAT Mexican food in a very casual environment. Â I'm not really a fan of Mexican food but their food is very good. Â In their new location (used to be off Hwy 18) they now offer a really amazing breakfast!
Best tacos in town and well priced!
This place lacks cleanilness, customer service and the food is so so.  We waited for over 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order and the place was not very busy.  The food was cold and tasted ok nothing great although the soup was good. The restrooms were very very dirty to the point if the health department would of seen this would of probably shut them down or write a citation  Hopefully the kitchen is not in the same condition.  Our drinks were never refilled.  We cross this place off our list.
Review Source:waitress not friendly, food was worse lunch special for that day was ground beef enchilada burrito, which was flavorless ground beef wrapped in flour tortilla covered in red enchilada sauce, could not not finish and not because it was so big but soooooo terrible, friend got pork torta flavorless left his on plate too. If anybody likes this place its because they do not know good mexican food.
Review Source:My wife, inlaws and I frequent this place, usually a couple times a week for taco tuesday/thursday or on a friday. Â Arturo talks to us like we are family. Â We have always had great food there. Â I almost can't wait for tacos during the week, in fact, I need to cut this review a bit short, as I have to go pick up my taco phone order right now. Â If you are in the area, go here. Â You will not be dissapointed.

So, what's there to say about Arturos? Â By now, if you've read the other reviews, you probably get the idea. Â The food's decent Mexican food, certainly better than Papagayos in Lake Arrowhead Village anyway. Â You get it hot, it's tasty and you can enjoy it without worrying about it. Â You won't be wowing and raving as you eat, but you won't be wondering if there's some kind of salt thief robbing the meals of taste either, or a sog-goblin hell-bent on softening all the yummy, crispy bits.
Against this is the service, which appears to consist largely of some other breed of goblin. Â There's some kind of special relativity at work here, where time passes at different speeds for the staff compared to the customers. Â The place isn't so big and so crowded that it can explain being as slow as it is; by contrast, La Cocina de Tony in Crestline serves far more quickly, and the staff seem far more attentive.
This is a shame, really, as despite my comparison to goblins, the staff themselves seem more than friendly enough when they were serving us; but the service was too slow, and too little. Â It seems that they could use one good example, one person who actually knows how service should be done, so that they could learn from them; but that person seems to work at Tony's. Â
The poor service won't be enough to stop us getting food from here again - the food is just about good enough to get past the service issues. Â But when we next go, we'll be going in prepared for a wait.
So we had time to kill, again working. So it being lunch time and being hungry we came in.
Very friendly staff,
Drinks and chips  came to the table very quickly along with our side of guac.
We ordered entre items so we also got a choice of soup or salad. Â I chose the salad with rAanch, Erika the albondigas soup. Â Salad was good soup was better. Â Portion were huge!
While we waited for the entree we both said we were stuffed. Â I wished I had the nerve to cancel the rest since i'm watching my weight, but I'm glad I didn't.
I had ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce with rice and bean and was it GOOD! Â So yummy! Â
Luved it!
Been sitting at my seat now for over 40 minutes waiting for my 3 Tacos. Service blows and my drink has sat empty for 20 minutes. On a better note....fresh chips are good....try using some salt next time. Homemade salsa is great and I would love to talk about the Tacos but I may have to leave before they arrive. Sad, sad, sad service and there has been no communication from my server.....I forgot what she looks like since she hasn't stopped by in the last 40 minutes.
Review Source:Maybe this place deserves higher, but I just don't get into Mexican food that much. Â (Someone needs to pat me on the back that I go and sample ALL of these places for the readers! Â I take one for the team, BIG TIME!)
Anyway, so I walked in, and the place was about to close in 30 minutes (Mountain businesses close earlier in the winter/spring...I'm learning this all as fast as I can since I moved up here).
So the waitress at first seemed a little put off that we were going to cut into her time getting ready for home, but after a few minutes, she became fun, kind, and helpful. Â
I ordered the shrimp fajita, and I'll lay off the fact that the peppers, onions, and shrimp weren't served on a sizzling flat iron. Â I have a feeling that all that stuff was put away in prep for closing....I'd have done the same thing!
HOLY COW did they lay down the shrimp! Â I honestly counted 12 fairly decent-sized shrimp on my plate!! Â Bite after bite was a Cousteau-like trip for the palate!
The waitress was now attentive, fun to talk to, and proud that she had a "non-Mexican food lover" rave about the healthy portions of shrimp in each bite.
So like I said, maybe I'm knocking the place (great atmosphere) because I don't like Mexican food; go find out for yourself, and let me know what you think!
Thank the Gods for Arturo's! Â The other well known mexican restaurant in the Lake Arrowhead area has the grossest food, so it's nice to have an alternative.
The chips and salsa don't disappoint, the servers are really friendly, and the food is savory, flavorful and satisfying. Â
One negative is the wait...because this is one of the tastier restaurants in the Lake Arrowhead area, all of the mexican-food-craving locals come here! But once you're seated, you'll get savory mexican food for a decent price.
We've been to Arturo's twice and we got friendly service, yummy food and they accommodated all of our requests with a smile. More chips and salsa? Â Sure thing! Â Side of Sour Cream? Â I'll be right back. Our server was so happy to be there that she seriously did a little skip on her way back to the kitchen!
I went to the old location with my boyfriend because neither of us had ever been there, and it's one of the very few restaurants up here, so I knew we'd have to try it eventually. So we went, and I was very disappointed. Everyone talks about this restaurant, so I expected better. I even got a bean, rice and cheese burrito which should be easy enough, it's a Mexican restaurant-the beans and rice should at least be good. They weren't. They were very bland.
So we decided to try the new one when it opened in Blue Jay, thinking that maybe they've made other improvements. So we were seated, and we were brought chips and salsa. These were not good and they're too thick, kind of like pita chips. The salsa was alright.
My boyfriend ordered fish tacos, and I thought I would try the bean, rice and cheese burrito again. The fish tacos tasted like a fish fillet with cheese on top. No yummy white sauce that usually comes with a fish taco. Just cheese. My burrito was boring. Enough said.
I think the worst part was the service. Not friendly or personable, we were checked on only one time, and then we were done for about 15-20 minutes before we even heard the word "check." Then it took another 5 minutes to get it.
I wish there were more good Mexican restaurants around, and we were hoping we'd find one this time, but I guess it just hasn't happened yet.
First comment is that the food was very good.  Prices are almost $$$ instead of $$.  My low rating is service related.  When we arrived traditional Latino accordian  music is so loud from the kitchen that any commuication between people is followed up by "Huh?"  "What?"  We were then seated and it took three people and six visits to the table for us to obtain  table settings and then resolve a leaky coffee cup problem and mess.  When the leaky cup project was completed I had to ask for coffee creamer twice from two people.  No apologies or smiles.  This is all with only three tables occupied in the place. Very frustrating.  Ruined my breakfast.
Review Source:Very welcoming and friendly staff, extremely efficient service, and delicious food. We had two baskets of complimentary chips and salsa, side salads, a few brews, a chile relleno, and we each attempted to finish a California Burrito. Â We almost made it. Â
Anna was our server and she proves the point that a smile goes a long long way. She was so sweet and had such a wonderful bubbly personality and really made our experience great. Â She was fantastic. Â The rest of the staff was on point as well and were very into providing us with a great experience. Keep up the great work and thanks for an awesome birthday dinner!
The new restaurant in Blue Jay is open (was the old location of Borderline). Apparently, the old location in Sky Forest across from Rockys is now closed. Same happy, friendly faces, same great chips and salsa, and great food. Â We love Arturos and go almost every week. Hopefully, they'll continue their Taco Tuesdays. This one is bigger and cleaner and Arturo has also opened a candy shop/bakery where the bar used to be. Closer to home too!!! Â My son needs to create their website :-))
