This place is one of the very few bars i went to when visiting the Houston area and even though it looks like an abondoned building from the outside the inside is the perfect dive bar, though it's a little spacious unlike a traditional dive bar. They have some pool tables, some darts, some spinning wheel thing that i didn't bother to figure out what it was for. I always look for the coolest dive bars wherever i go becuase it's a nice place to meet down to earth real people who arent cought up with being pretentious and acting like they have money with their VIP corner. Here everyone is the same and can have a normal conversation over a couple of beers without having to scream into the other persons ear over some loud ass music. Don't judge and give it a try.
Review Source:I was down in Deer Park this past weekend helping a friend move, and he took me by here for a couple of cold ones.
The beer is cheap, and the attitude is laid back. It's a "dive bar" at it's finest. You can tell most of the people there are regulars...it had quite a few of them in there on this Saturday afternoon. Some "younger" patrons came in with black balloons, apparently setting up for an evening 40th b-day party for one of the regulars.
The must-have tinted windows were there to keep the place nice and dark. Pool tables, darts, and plenty of games all over the place. The bartender was very nice and the service was excellent. In addition to all of the games, they had some kind of spin-the-wheel "raffle" going on. I didn't ask.
High points:
1. YOU CAN SMOKE INSIDE HERE. It smells like a bar SHOULD smell...without being overly smokey.
2. The juke box was awesome...nothing but great old classics came on during our stay.
3. I love anyplace where they ask for my I.D. to make sure I'm old enough to drink. I'm almost 40. :)
If I lived close by, this would definitely be a cool place to wind down after work. Good prices, great music, laid-back atmosphere, nice people...and ash trays on the tables! Stop in for a cold one and check it out!
