Had a quick lunch at the bar & the food & service were excellent.

Hard to go wrong with this place, if sports, nice atmosphere, wings and American fare food are what you're looking for. The service is always pretty good, and it's an excellent place to watch any sporting event.

Check out the loaded Cheese Fries... they're awesome. They have tons of TV's, a nice size bar area, lots of Bama memorabilia scattered around the place, etc.

The one detraction possibly, is the parking can be an issue when they're busy.

The food is absolutely incredible! The waiters are also really good about checking on you and keeping your drinks refilled (a must for me!) Definitely stop by if you're in town!

I used to go here back in the last 1990s and recently visited here again. The place seems to be better than it was before. You can actually eat like a king for a decent price. Their wings are amazingly good. Both the size of the wings as well as the sauces that they use are out of this world. But the most impressive thing is their dessert, particularly their blackberry cobbler. I have taken a detour on road trip to go through Tuscaloosa just so I can eat the cobbler. As far as meals, you really can't go wrong. But make sure you leave room for that cobbler! You won't regret it!

Bob Baumhower started a wings/sports bar standard  in Alabama that many try to imitate but few can measure up.
Sports Bar atmosphere with a crazy expanded menu. Lots of good options.
I stick with the wings...can't go wrong!

I love the atmosphere!  I've been here a few times, and in order to get seated fast, I elected to sit at the bar.  Service and food were spot-on. Their "white Bar-B-Q" sauce is something special!  Oh, and they have Shrimp and Grits, too!

My father and I were staying overnight in Tuscaloosa as a break in out three day road trip to Texas. Exhausted from a long day of traveling my dad and I did not want to go far for dinner, so we went to Baumhower's because of its close proximity to our hotel. When we got there we were seated right away; however, we waited a good ten minutes before my dad had to get up from the table, go back to the hostess stand and ask for a waiter or waitress. No one came to take drink orders, or anything. Finally, after at least fifteen minutes, a random waiter took our drink order and food order and passed in on to our waitress. Once our food came, my dad's potato was barley cooked. He could hardly cut into it! On top of that, the wrap that I ordered was an extremely small portion. It tasted alright, but it was not worth the price. My father and I do not consider ourselves picky people when it comes to restaurants, but this was just a bad experience.

I found the food here to be good, but not great.  The beer selection left a lot to be desired, but the overall atmosphere of the place was pretty good.  Definitely worth giving a try and I'll probably give it another chance next time I'm in town.

We were visiting the Tuscaloosa, AL area for a quick trip. After talking to a few guys, they recommended Baumhower's.

This particular location is located adjacent to the University of Alabama. Baumhower's is your typical wings restaurant -- decorated with a collection of television sets tuned to sports channels.

I found the fact that this place charges per pound a bit strange (as I usually notice wing places charging per piece). I ordered 1 1/2 lbs. of wings; expecting it to be adequate (I'm a heavy eater). 1 1/2 lbs. of wings were $9.49. As with other wing places (i.e. Buffalo Wild Wings, Wing Stop, etc.), you have the option to select sauces (ex. Lemon Pepper, Buffalo, Garlic, etc.) and the spice level (with "Volcano," being most extreme).

We also ordered the Fried Pickles.

Now I must admit, the Fried Pickles were good (does anyone else serve these?). The pickles came with ranch dressing.

When the wings came out, we were a bit disappointed (their interpretation of 1 1/2 lbs. = 10 pieces). I was hoping for ehhh... maybe 15 pieces, at minimum (I should have asked our waitress to confirm).

Nonetheless, the food was nothing to complain about. And certainly, you can't go wrong by visiting... as the service was excellent.

Update to previous post. I am very impressed with the senior level management and owner at Bob Baumhowers. After our incident I called the general manager Neal and gave him the whole run down on what had transpired. He said he would look into it and get back to me. The next day I received a call from Mr. Baumhower himself. I again explained what happened and he said he would get back to me. On the third day Mr. Baumhower called back and was very apologetic for what had transpired and went out of his way to make up for the incident. We visited Bob Baumhowers again on Saturday and had an outstanding time. It is good to see that there are still restaurants out there that do care about the customer. I will definitely be a returning customer.

Took my children and some friends there for lunch.  I have to agree with the other reviews, it's okay food, but just not amazing.  The sports theme in fun and I'm certainly not a Bama fan, but I'm a Gene Stallings fan, so I loved the pics of the coach and John Mark.  Service was good but for what is costs me to feed 6 of us, for lunch, I would have liked for "amazing"--

Been here a few times - most recently this past weekend. We ordered the wing sampler, which comes with 3 different flavors of wings. (We got lemon pepper, honey bbq, & buffalo) and a cheeseburger. The wings, as one would expect, were great. I've always been a buffalo wing fan, but surprisingly the lemon pepper wings were the standout for me. The cheeseburger was a little on the dry side - we'll probably skip that next time. Service was friendly and attentive. Great place to go after a game - lots of memorabilia. Roll Tide! :)

Baumhower's Wings is a sports grill and bar located near the U of A, just off McFarland.  It has a large menu with burgers, wings,  sandwiches, etc.  There are TVs everywhere.  And sports memorabilia.  The food is good, the service is variable; it's always been kinda good or kinda terrible.  The beer selection is a little lacking, but manageable.  The burgers are a decent size and satisfying, but not quite amazing.
