Great beers, had the Race 5 IPA. Very hippy, but good. We sat outside on the picnic table side. The originally quoted us 30 minutes, but sat us immediately. Food is standard pub fare, good but complements - but doesn't over shadow - the food. Great place for a beer with some food.

Didn't have food here, but tried a beer sampler. Pretty good choices and decent prices. Nice out door beer garden as well. Great place to go with friends to relax after work for some cold brews.

I always have a good time here! The vibe at the brewery is incredible. I recommend sitting at the bar and getting to know the bar tender. Every time I go I have great conversations. Their craft beer is also very good. Who doesn't like a Racer? This last weekend they had some unique blends and I ordered the sampler and really liked their black IPA. This brewery is also in a funky and cute location. The restaurant is very large and the crowd is very laid back and friendly. I have gone 3-4 times and always left satisfied. This is another brewery I will always go to when traveling up North.

Wonderful brew pub. Hang out here while the rest of the group tastes wine. Have lunch. Who needs wine, anyway?

This is my boyfriend's favorite spot. Whether it's the ribs, the giant burgers or the artichoke dip, he pretty much loves the entire menu and their ever so popular Racer X beer. I love that they have veggie burgers for us non-meat eating people and the service has always been great every time we've been here.

The server was very friendly and was courteous with our dog. However, the menu failed to mention that their veggie burger is trim a Morningstar box. You're a full service restaurant, so cook, right? veggie burgers aren't a new idea. furthermore, the rueben was okay at best, very small and light on the sauerkraut. We left very happy with the beers, but would suggest going elsewhere in town for dinner.

Again, bitchin' beers, but that's it.

Their dark beers are hard to swallow due to their awful taste...I got the tasting platter..Found one that was tolerable but not of note. I don't see why this place is so popular. I have lived in Healdsburg my whole life was born in Healdsburg Hospital. 've given this place a few tries but have always regretted it. it is popular with the tourist crowd I guess because it is the only brewery in town. Yuck. Oh yeah the food is also overpriced and average at BEST. The service is very good I will say.

We attended a wedding expo and came across the Bear Republic booth. We thought it was a cool idea to get married here but also wanted our wedding to be elegant. So we set aside their info and started visited several wineries in town which were too pricey, stuffy and wanted to end the wedding way too early. We ended up choosing the Bear Republic for our wedding and Ryan was AMAZING every step of the way. We got married on the lawn area in back of the restaurant and had the reception in thier courtyard everyone raved about the food it was absolutely magical. The staff was warm and friendly to all our guests and we could not have asked for a more beautiful spot to get married WE LOVED IT!!!! I got way more than elegance it was super fun

My wife and I discovered Bear Republic on our honeymoon. Seventeen years later, we returned with our kids. Awesome beer and eats. We love it!

Love the beer that these guys make, so we had to stop in on our tour of NorCal. Turns out that I love the food too! I got the crab sandwich that was made with locally caught crab, and it was delightful! I was driving so I didn't get a chance to imbibe on as much beer as I would have liked to, but the pear cider is quite good.

Great vibe in this restaurant/pub. There's a nice patio for you to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine with your food, or you can hang out inside and enjoy the energy from the bar. Great food, good prices.. excellent mac and cheese :)

This is one of my favorite breweries, and on a recent trip, I ran in to fill a growler and buy a logo pint glass. I so, so wanted to stop and eat and share a few pints with my wife, but we had the kids, the dogs, and it wasn't to be.

So, I can't comment on the food, but I can tell you that I loved growler I filled with Racer X, and I can't wait to go back and visit a while.

I love this place. The beer is fantastic, the service is quite good, and I've always had a good meal here. Sit indoors, outdoors, whatever, you're going to be comfortable. Top notch and worth a trip to Healdsburg from wherever you are in the Bay Area. Trust me.

Love these guys.

We loved the food so much on our first visit, we talked to the manager that day about catering our wedding.

Ryan was incredible. Super chill, great attitude about food and catering, very reasonable on how to approach the day, very helpful, friendly, worked with us on every detail (probably too many for his liking but he never showed it!).

On the big day, Ryan was awesome as was the wait staff. We heard so many guests compliment the servers during the reception and then the day after.

The staff even broke down all of the tables and chairs and linens for us which, I'm pretty sure, was NOT THEIR JOB BUT THEY DID IT ANYWAY.

We were hard negotiators about cost and after all of Ryan's concessions and then EXCELLENT service by his staff, we ended up putting the difference back into the bill as an extra gratuity. THEY WERE THAT GOOD.

Can't say enough things about our great experiences with The Bear Republic restaurant, management, staff, and catering services.

Ryan was the best!

If you like beer and great food (or just one of the two), you need to get down to Bear Republic.

Having enjoyed their beer for a long time, I was very excited to visit the brewery and see where all the magic happens. The location is very convenient and the appearance fits in perfectly with the surrounding area. The vibe of the place is excellent and was made even better by the great service of our waiter, Todd (I think that was his name!). I got the hoppy flight and was impressed by the lineup. My overall favorite is still the Racer 5 IPA though. The food was great for pub food and came out fairly quick. The Papas and Pollo was definitely a good choice. Can't wait to go back soon!

Not recommended. I was quoted 30 minutes for a party of 8. I followed up 1 hour later and they advised that it would be another 20 minutes. Poor quality.

Beers are a 5 plus-food is a 3 star here. Racer 5 is one of my favorite beers on the planet. They also serve there other popular products that can be found in bars and stores (Hope Rod Rye, Red Rocket, Black Bear Stout, Peter Brown Memorial). In addition, they usually have 7 to 10 taproom specials. All different types of beers from a light lager to a Belgian style dubbel. The food? Ehhh. Typical pub menu with sandos, burgers, fish-n chips. My wife and I were just there on Memorial day. We shared the calamari for $10. Again, just okay. Located right off the square in downtown Healdsburg. Service is usually friendly and efficient. I think they serve wine here-I just have never seen anyone order a glass. Can get crowded quickly on weekends. A couple TV's above the bar if you are into sporting events and they sell plenty of merchandise if you just have to have a Racer hoody!

We had a wonderful experience at the Bear Republic. My girlfriend and I were sitting at the tables in the bar area. We were unsure if we could order off the full menu. Within minutes our server Jennifer H welcomed us with a smile and assured us we could order off the full menu. Her service was nothing less than outstanding. We had a wonderful dinner with awesome beers. This is a must visit when in Healdsburg. They have specialty beers only available at the brewery. We can't wait to return!

Jesus Christ. Look, I LOVE Bear Republic's beers. Racer 5 is one of my favorites of all time. And the beer selection they have here is great. They even have a few brews they don't bottle regularly.

Just... I don't know, man. Do yourself a favor and just don't order any food here. I'm gonna sound like a picky asshole, but, look, our garlic fries were stale (oven reheated! Poorly reheated. wtf???) and we got burgers with really stale "Racer 5" buns. It made me kind of sad.

I love the beer, though. So, so much...

A few years ago, this place was good. Now, it is great! Last time we went I had an AMAZING crab sandwich - the crab meat was so fresh and the garlic toasted bread was sooo yummy with it. Husband was in love with his Ahi Tuna sandwich. The beer-a-misu dessert was to die for. Husband loved the two beers he got (I can't opine - I'm pregnant). Can't remember what we got in recent past visits but we always walk away from Bear Republic really impressed with the quality and taste of the food and wanting to return soon.

Awesome beer of course. I had the five burger. Better than average. Step up to the plate and upgrade to the garlic fries because its worth it! GF had the crab sandwich which had a ton of crab. Good flavor.

I love Racer 5. Racer 5 is primarily the reason we visited this brewery. We tried some of the other beers but still haven't found one that bears the IPA.

The food is basic pub food, decent sandwiches/burgers, nothing too fancy.

Came here to taste some of Bear's other brews (Racer 5 has been a longtime favorite of mine so this was high on my list). I wish it was more like a brewery/tasting room rather than a bar/restaurant. But the bar was still fun. Bear is located in a really cute, upscale downtown area that's nice to walk around.

We got the garlic fries (really garlicky aka delicious) and the beer sample platter (gotta say that Racer 5 is still the best). Also, as a side note, we got to meet the famous Ranger Rick, who is super friendly and came to sit and talk with us while we were eating. He's a employee/regular (unclear when we asked) who sit at the end of the bar and has his own cup, t-shirts, and drawings dedicated to him. Easily spotted by the most ridiculous moustache I have ever seen: http://cdn.c.photoshelte…

I love going to wine country... for beer!!!

It's only natural. In all actuality, the 1st modern microbrewery in the US opened in NorCal wine country in the 1970's. & ever since then, NorCal has become 1 of the premiere beer producing regions on the planet.

It was a long overdue road trip to check out Bear Republic Brewing Co. Driving up from the East Bay, it's really tough to pass up my fave brewpub in downtown Santa Rosa. But this 1 time, I stuck to my guns & picked Racer instead of Pliny.

Open street parking in downtown Healdsburg was nonexistent on a Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, there's a large & free parking lot with plenty of spaces just off the main drag behind the brewpub.

The girlfriend & I walked in & we greeted the hostess. Yeah, the hostess was pretty apathetic & uninvolved, but she got us a table in the covered patio area that we liked. By contrast, our server was friendly, attentive & a true beer enthusiast.

For our 1st time here, we followed the typical brewpub playbook. We ordered burgers & beer. Specifically, the Justa Burger for the girlfriend & the Black & Blue Burger for me. We both subbed Garlic Fries for sides & started with sampler flights for beer.

Our numerous little glasses of tasty beer were presented to us shortly. Our server gave us a rundown on all the different beers & their characteristics. Food followed a little while later, but not too long.

Both our burgers were ordered medium-rare. Both were cooked to medium, but were still pretty decent. The much-lauded-in-Yelp-reviews Garlic Fries were greatly overrated. They had good garlic & Parmesan flavor, but were so dry that they almost seemed powdery.

Good thing we had lots of beer. A few bites of those fries completely dried out my mouth & I needed a drink to put moisture back in. Hmmm, maybe that's the point. Super-dry fries to make you want to drink even more beer. Whatever the case may be: BRBC Garlic Fries, not a fan.

So it comes down to the star rating. Normally, under these circumstances, I would rate this place 3 stars. But I rate experientially. Despite the indifferent hostess & the vastly overrated Garlic Fries, I still had a great time & would come back.

Because it's all about the beer. & the many beers we sampled were very good. Even the service was about the beer. Our server enjoyed talking about beer & mentioned that he home brews.

I came here for the beer & ultimately, that's what I got. Bear Republic Brewing Co., I'm a fan. Greet me with a smile + serve me better fries next time & I'll really love you.

Upgrade! Checking out Bear Republic on a sunny day and with menu recommendations from the locals made all the difference. I ordered the "humm baby crab sandwich" on a recommendation from a local guy we met at a wine room, and I should probably send him a thank you card because it was AWESOME. Big chunks of crab on toasted sourdough with a side of lemon butter. Wow. What a great sammie. The fries were tasty, too.

Pair that with a couple hoppy beers and you'll be a happy hoppy camper.

The one star is because the beer is cold!! Yummy! Interesting and inviting. However it stops there. I ordered a burger feeling solid in my pick. Ehh. Burger was a complete mess, unseasoned and cold. Fries were old and chewy like gum. Service was some of the worst in Healdsburg. I'm sorry tourist believe this is how we eat. Keep the pub, move the food menu to the Santa Rosa Mall

Ranger Rick! Ranger Rick! Ranger Rick! Woohooooo!!!

There was no way I was leaving NorCal without going to Bear Republic. I needed to go to the Mecca of Racer 5. If you're a beer fan, you should know about Racer 5 and you should know why it's a must to get here.

Just so you know, this isn't just a tasting room. It's a BrewPub. What does that mean to you? It means you can have beer and a burger. Or beer and cheese sticks. We ordered the sampler and I'm pretty sure it equated to about 2 pints. I felt nice after. Some I didn't like (the barleywine) and some I loved (El Oso). Then there was Racer 5.

If you look over at the bar and you see a guy with a 'stache that's a mile long, oh, that's just Ranger Rick. He takes pictures and he loves the ladies.

I enjoyed my time here but it really was just a reminder that I can't get much BRB in SoCal, then I got sad. Then I remembered that I have family in NorCal that I can "visit".

As far as food and beer, 4 stars because we had a couple of burgers and brews at the bar that were tasty...now for the beartender, literally the guy was making loud sounds with his mouth that was hard to comprehend and had the worst personality...We never got the "how is everything" or "Are you enjoying the food" speech and that's fine, we were just happy not to have the guy in front of us!
How can someone like that be in the service industry?
anyway we went outside to the "beer garden" which was dirty with old napkins on the floor, dust on the benches and a broken umbrella flapping in the wind!
no one ever came to see if we wanted more drinks...Go there and enjoy the food and beer!

I stopped by this place on a Saturday afternoon with my friend. We were looking to try the beer and check out the menu since the beer is brewed right here in the town I live in Cloverdale.

First Con, The hostess was not friendly.... This is what happened:
We noticed a bunch of tables open out on the patio, and when we walked in we were greeted by the hostess. We said table for 2 preferably out on the patio. The first thing out of her mouth was "Are you guys going to be eating?" I was kind of taken back... like, um.. hello you're a restaurant.. and secondly, how rude. I said yes. She then said it would be a 30 minute wait. It wasn't incredibly busy but fine no problem, I have been a hostess before too and understand how it 'works'. So we decided to go for a walk, when we got back she proceeded to seat us inside.. I had to tell her, wait we wanted a table outside..

Besides that our server was great, we had some wings which were messy and she kept bringing us napkins. The beer was pretty crazy too, in a good way. Just different and we both really liked it. We spent a long time there chatting, eating, and drinking, it was a nice experience. I would definitely go back, but hope to be greeted in a better manner.

Just for the fish and chips special (on Fridays)...this place deserves all 4 stars. My hubby and I had already eaten earlier AND ordered the wild game chili so we agreed to split the fish and chips, but didn't tell the waitress. She took the awesome initiative to split our order. SO....

When we were served the fish and chips, I initially thought we had accidentally ordered 2 orders of the fish and chips. Right as I was going to ask the waitress if we had ordered by mistake, the table next to us got their fish and chips and confirmed that we had indeed only ordered one (1) order of fish and chips.

Again props to our waitress. Half an order of the fish and chips included 2 HUGE battered pieces of flaky white fish, a small side of coleslaw and a massive handful of fries. RIDONCULOUS.

Beers were interesting, but unfortunately not the kind that my hubby and I normally enjoy. Oh ya, the wild game chili was good. Definitely stop by for their food since their portions are HUGE.

When I was vacationing in Northern California, my family took me here. I have to say, it's a pretty nice place. I have to admit, I like beer - I just didn't enjoy the signature Racer Five. Then again, I don't like IPAs very much, and thought I would give it a shot. I wasn't terribly hungry when I came here, and ended up getting an order of garlic fries to munch on -- they were great! I just love the smell and taste of garlic. If you order them, bring an Altoid!

All in all, this was a nice place to have a drink and get something to eat. It wasn't the most amazing place I've ever been to get a beer, but it was A-OK!

I wanted to love this place, but only liked it.
First, let me say that our waitress, Jennifer, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The beers we chose, after asking for samples, were perfect.
The garlic appetizer was good, but not great. We shared it around the table, and all agreed that the elephant garlic doesn't pack the punch of regular garlic. The garlic fries on the other hand, were the bomb.
My DH and I shared the three sausage platter. Good, but not great. Two of the sausages were slightly overcooked, and the brat. was WAY overcooked. Most restaurants outside of the Midwest tend to overcook brats. Our dining companions liked their choices a lot. They had the BLT wrap and The Press sandwich.
Dessert was the banana bread pudding. Flavor was a bit bland, but the sauce was very good.

Specialty beers!!! Yummm...

The menu was extensive and offers some really creative pairings with their wide selection of beers. Honestly, I was really impressed with their offerings. My husband loves duck and he had the duck burger. My kids and I ate and shared a few items which were also good. However, the taste was not knock-your-socks-off. But, the beers were great and the food is good-- so I will definitely come back next time I'm in town!

I make it a point to support local independent brewers when given the opportunity. Racer 5 is a fabulous beer and one of my favorites, but this "brewery" is sort of disappointing. We sat outside and were greeted with dirty tables and chairs, old broken umbrellas strewn about, and a generally unkempt atmosphere. It's basically the same thing that you'd find in any local shopping mall ... think of BJs or something similar.

And, at nine bones a pint the signature beers (Racer 5, Racer X, etc.) are almost twice as expensive as they are at any local bar in San Francisco.

No thanks.

I came here on a Friday night with a large group...call me crazy, this place is mad with popularity! I should have known better.

Find the place was a bit of a challenge as well as getting good parking. The beer was smoking! Them food was typical brew pub bill of fare.

I'll have to come back with a much smaller group and give this a retry...kind of hard to base this place on a group of 20 on a busy Friday!

I had eaten here several years ago, and was looking forward to today's lunch with family and friends before hitting the wine country. So, I check the Yelpers, as they are a pretty perceptive bunch. Mostly 4s and 5s, but I noted a few 1s and 2s.

We went anyway, were seated after a longish wait (there were major events on the Plaza), were served promptly after ordering, ate, got our waters refilled twice, paid the bill, and left. I myself had the 3 sausage app, with mushrooms, sauerkraut, caramelized onions, and another garnish. It was delicious and a creative mix of flavors. Others had the usual burger, one the pasta, and another soup and a side salad. NO complaints from our persnickety group. One family member was new to Sonoma County and said "I gotta come back here sometime". High praise, indeed. BTW, the negative Yelpers were not from around these parts, and maybe their expectations are different in the City where things are more expensive. I for one will be coming back to the Bear Republic, but on perhaps a less busy Saturday afternoon.

Bring someone with you who also likes beer so you can split the complete beer sampler -- house ales and specialties. I have had many a Racer 5 IPA in my day but it was great to be introduced to their double IPA, Racer 15.

When we first arrived we were seated at a small, two-person table but upon ordering the beer sampler, our server insisted that we move to a roomier table -- one that would actually accomodate the large size of their beer sampler.

For my lunch I ordered a side salad with garlic vinaigrette and their mac and cheese. Both were very good and I was surprised with the mac and cheese portion. I had to take half of it to go.

My honey ordered chicken and garlic fries. I think the best part of his meal was the number of dipping sauces provided. The dish comes with ranch, southwestern ranch, Jamaican jerk and BBQ. You would think that four sauces would be plenty but our server brought a fifth -- their hot wing sauce. As recommended by our server (who was super friendly and definitely knew what she was doing) the best combo was a garlic fry dipped in the ranch AND hot wing sauce. Delish.
