Betty & Jake's Tavern

After meeting up with some friends in the western suburbs of Baltimore, we opted to try out this place on an unassuming street corner in Catonsville after reading reviews that this place has incredible burgers.  And they do have great tasting burgers, even with a side of gravy (which I thought was a nice touch).  If you come here, I certainly recommend that you try one of the burgers, which is among the better tasting burgers I've ever had.  I also tried an order of old bay seasoned chicken wings, which did take some getting used to for this Upstate New Yorker's taste buds, but still good.  Additionally, the cost of the food and beer were reasonable.

While what makes this place great is food, what makes this place less than spectacular is the less than appealing, dingy, dive bar atmosphere, which had knocked down the rating by a star for me.  It's not a place to take a family to.  However, I still wouldn't knock this place based on the food alone, just that the appearance of Betty and Jake's could use a facelift.
