My fiance and I are taking private swing dancing lessons with Chiles at ChileSwing. Â Not only is swing dancing something we'd love to get more into in general, but our wedding is coming up, and we both attended a college where swing dancing was the norm and the Macarena was Not Spoken Of, and we'd like our reception to have dancing that is... well, more fun to do, watch, and listen to. Â
We've been for two lessons so far, and are happily anticipating more to come. Â Chiles is patient, easygoing, and very good at helping us to figure things out when they're going wrong, and the private lesson setting is ideal for working at our own, not-entirely-naturally-gifted pace. Â We're working on some East Coast swing, and I hope will get to Lindy before we're done. Â
Due to a string of ridiculous schedule conflicts, we haven't made it to one of the Thursday night dances yet, but we're excited to do so eventually. Â The setting for this place is great - it's in an old mill on the Gwynns Falls River right in the middle of Gwynns Falls-Leakin Park. Â You have to go over an amazing little bridge to get to it. Â The river and the woods are right there out the window, and there's a balcony above the dance floor from whence you can watch others dance.
Also, this is in the middle of a historic neighborhood with a history of bootlegging. Â Can't get a lot more perfect than that. Â
Highly recommended.
