It has been a looooong time since I have been here.  It was nice to see that the place was still open and just as good as I remembered it!  The cuisine is french influence with dishes such as beef bourguigne and coq au vin.  The place is well decorated with a beautiful bar, red banquets, and walls decorated with paintings.  Service is impeccable but its the food that hits it on the nail for me.  Menu is moderately priced with a nice selection of wine and drinks.  If you are there make sure to have the pate which is probably the best thing on the menu.  Until next time Zinc!  See you again when I'm next in town!

From the outside the place is nice and quaint, from the inside it's very pretty.  The service was good and the whole thing rather classy.  Perhaps a little too much for my taste, but I won't hold that against the place.  Overall, I found that the ambiance just didn't cut it for me... it's about the food.  The bread was good, in fact I'd take some more.  My burger was yummy, but the fries left something to be desired.  So then why only a 3 and not a 4?  Because when you pay $20 for a hamburger and fries the whole plate should impress me, not having me a person who almost always cleans his plate leaving most of my fries for the birds.

We were in Lenox for lunch and had a solid enjoyable lunch with wine on the vane of French food.

It's not pronounced Zanc like the joint one block off Blvd St. Germain, but rather zinc in respect for the tin ceiling. Yes, we asked.

As you may know, I've been to the Zanc and sat through the patrons from hell next to us.

At Zinc, the old ladies next to us were talking about church and were much more interesting and the experience more peaceful.

We both had the pate and soup.  I onion, she potatoe leek. The leek won.  The onion was too light in color and lacked the depth of flavors that slow caramelizing produces.

The wines:  Chilean red and Bordeau red by the glass, we split out likes on those, but both were good.

Meal $60 with tip.  We love pate.  Worth the stop.

All in all the food here is decent, and the same goes for the service. Although the menu is modern French, I think they offer pretty standard fare and do not deviate too much from the traditional presentation of these dishes.

I don't live in the area, so my visits to Zinc are pretty spaced out. I think that speaks volumes for their consistency because I have had a decent meal here each time. There's that word again..."decent." I don't think this place elevates food at all. It provides an OK atmosphere, and puts out pretty good food. Nothing that'll blow you away unless you are easily impressed.

My most recent visit was for lunch. I did enjoy the lamb chili. It was hearty without being heavy, and the lamb was tender. It did take me a while to get some bread which I thought was a bit odd. Shouldn't bread always accompany chili?

They do a pretty good burger here, but it is not for the light eater. Their lunch menu is extensive which is nice because it has something for just about everyone. My wife also likes the crispy goat cheese salad.

Depending on the crowd, I sometimes prefer to sit in the bar here rather than the dining room.

Duck so nice, we ordered it twice. Quite the Jekyll and Hyde experience, howe'er.

Swinging by for something up and a light bite, KG and I posted up at the empty bar. Elegantly backlit array of small batch spirits next to universal standards, and a tempting (albeit basic) rundown of specialty cocktails.

We got down with two ducky apps so earthquacking, we couldn't decide between them: duck confit rolls with hoisin & sweet chili and fried duck tenderloins sided by a dill remoulade (both $11). And a Maple Manhattan, m'good barkeep. Tis the season, amirite?

The ten buck tipple is well-shaken and balanced as all get-out. While a Luxardo may have offered a deeper sweetness, the drink drank til drunk. An easy re-order, kinda like those amazing duck tenderloins. Battered without heft and salty enough to cause a deer stampede, we tore through the plate ravenously.

Same couldn't be said for the sad and soggy duck confit rolls. Saturated in hoisin, the wrap became gummy and even the sharpest of pan-Asian accents (these weren't) could do nothing to zing up a flat, tasteless meat. Run away!

At such a crossroads when one dish severely outshines the other, and a limbo is created between three and four stars, I look to the staff as a tiebreaker. Sadly, the bartender couldn't be trouble with small talk, questions about Lenox or the labels she was pouring. Not just neutral, she seemed downright annoyed and with a dead bench, we couldn't understand why.

I am going to get through the little negative things I have to say about this place before I rave about how I had the best meal of my life here on July 17, 2012. No exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination. If I wasn't already a boisterous yelper, I would make an account just to review how delicious my food was. Ok, yea... staying on track, the "bad" things:
1.) The seating is way.too.close. If your knife slipped out of your left hand when you were cutting your steak, you'd be at risk for stabbing your fellow patron in the right arm. It's that tight, and almost a bit uncomfortable. It IS a bistro - keep that in mind. Do whatever it takes to sit in your own table in the middle of the room, not along the walls for a better experience.
2.) When you order a glass of wine, you don't really get a glass. I ordered a glass of relatively cheap white wine (I'm a red wine gal, but it was so boiling hot outside that I needed some white) and I only received a little less than half. I felt funny asking her to 'fill 'er up'!
3.) My husband said he felt a little out of place because the crowd seemed mostly like Westchesterites (from the very rich area of Southern NY) with money visiting Tanglewood. I think that's more of a personal problem than an issue about the restaurant, but the ambiance seemed very 'country club'-ish.

    Now, on to the pluses!!!
1.) I've been to 'fancy' restaurants before, and you don't often get bread. Well, we did and it was very tasty. It came in handy for dinner...
2.) My dinner - the beef bourguignonne - was the best meal I've ever had. It was life changing - so delicious, so outstanding, and so utterly perfect. The definition of comfort food - it just put you on another level of savoring a meal. It wasn't too much food or too little - it was the perfect portion, perfectly flavored, perfectly simmered... I think you get the point - it was PERFECT. And I am not exaggerating. It will change you if you order it as well. My husband ordered the Ox Tail Ragu with pappardelle, which he said was good but nothing compared to the bite of my meal he had. He was quite jealous.

I was so utterly happy with my meal and we wanted to get ice cream elsewhere so we didn't have dessert but I wish we did. You need to stop here in Lenox because it's worth it. A great experience and although some claim it's 'overpriced', this quality of meal in Manhattan will cost you triple what you pay here. It is worth an extended trip here...

While certainly sympathetic that things can "go wrong" the experience endured last night by my party of four at Zinc was truly garish in highlighting the uneven quality of the service and the management at this Lenox establishment.

After a perfectly pleasant experience at lunch, we returned for dinner and were promptly seated in the nearly deserted bar portion of the dining room. After consulting with the waitress regarding the menu, our order was placed. She returned some minutes later to announce that two of the appetizers that we had ordered were not available. An amended selection was quickly placed only to have the waitress return again with additional news: one of the two replacement appetizers was not available either. At this point, as we sought to regroup, placing a new order combining what we now knew was a limited selection of appetizers, with entrees from the menu. And now additional information was put forward: the new entree that we had chosen was also unavailable. With so much discussion ---and so little food as of yet---the whole farce was complete when one of four entrees arrived without the correct side dishes. A new scramble ensued to retrieve these items. Finally, the check arrived and we had been charged EXTRA for the side dishes which the waitress had willingly substituted for what normally came with our entrees. At this point we went to see the manager, Ben to whom we calmly related the entire experience of the past 90 minutes. His sole response: "That's what happens when you order popular items." "But Ben", we asked, "maybe the wait staff might have been told that you were out of many items on the menu so we didn't have to endure this experience prior to being handed a bill for $200 for four people and no alcohol but for one glass of wine." Ben's sole response was a shrug of his shoulders. "Ben, I'll leave it to you to make whatever adjustment you think might be appropriate to the bill." A few minutes later our visibly shaken waitress arrived. Ben's complete amendment to the bill was to remove an errant mash potato order.

Ben (and Zinc) we're all too delighted to pay premium, Manhattan prices (even when we're in Lenox) for great food and service. We're also happy to acknowledge that mistakes sometimes happen and when management recognizes those mistakes appropriately a loyal customer can be created. But in the combination of your ineptitude, arrogance and premium prices you have created a witches brew that truly must be avoided at all costs. Stay away.

We stopped here on the way to a Kripalu (weight loss program).

While I really wanted the schnitzel or the burger or the croque Madame - because I was going to a "weight loss program" - salad was the order of the day for us 4 girls.

Each of us ordered a salad, and every single one of us had a modification to the preparation.

Not only was everything made as ordered perfectly, the nice waitress remembered whose was whose.

I had the goat cheese salad, minus beets, plus chicken.  The goat cheese was HUGE, and really crispy and nice.  The chicken too was freshly prepped and nicely spiced. if I had a complaint, I would have liked a few more greens - but I'm just splitting hairs hare.

Desserts looked amazing (on their way to other tables of course)

I ate here with my family and was not enthused about my own food, but the others in my party seemed satisfied but not thrilled, so I am giving it 3 stars.  Based on my food it would have been one or two.

The crispy goat cheese salad with beets and candied walnuts was enjoyable but not incredible, which made me think it was overpriced at $11.

I ordered the sole muniere. It was in my opinion much too buttery and over-salted. I felt like I had drank a cup of butter that was sitting in my stomach afterwards. . .not a good feeling.

My husband ordered a special which was a goose dish that he felt was OK but not incredible.

My sister had the cedar planked salmon, which is probably what I should have ordered and what I will order if I ever decide to brave this place again.  She thought it was fine, but again not incredible.

Our server was friendly, knowledgable, down to earth and very patient with our incredibly indecisive party.

Short review:  The food and the service we had a lunch here were excellent.  We've eaten here twice and left happy.  This place is for people that know what moules frites, profiteroles, and crepes are.  If you don't appreciate these things, you will think that it's overpriced, pretentious, and you won't go back.  If you do appreciate these things, you will LOVE Bistro Zinc.

Long review:  We ALMOST didn't go to Bistro Zinc after reading the recent reviews, which seemed to take a markedly downward turn for the 6 months preceeding this writing.  Luckily, our other option was closed for lunch for the season, so we decided to give Bistro Zinc another shot.  We loved it the last time we ate here (Spring 2011), and today was no different.  We absolutely enjoyed our lunch at Bistro Zinc.  We had the onion soup, the goat cheese salad for starters (it had a fancy name that I don't recall), and for mains, we had the spinach crepe and the gumbo (not exactly bistro food, but it was delicious!).  The spinach crepe was delicious, the onion soup was tasty without being too salty, and overall the meal was killer.  Our lunch ended with dessert and tea - and it was worth the price we paid.

Way overpriced for the quality! We were there on a Monday night right after Christmas, so I didn't expect perfect execution from the kitchen, but the food just wasn't very good.

    Warm olives (starter)
The olives would have been fine had someone in the kitchen not heated them in a gas burning device (possibly a broiler) giving the entire dish the flavor of natural gas.

    Carafe of house red
$33 is way to much to pay for something that came out of a box or jug

    Bread:
Are you kidding me? Someone took half a flavorless baguette out of the freezer, gave it no time to defrost and smashed it with a panini press. What we were served was flat, dense, and flavorless.

    Coq au vin
Not a hint of the requisite bacon in this dish and the rest of it was just blah. I expected more for $24.

No, we didn't stay for dessert.

Overall, we had no qualms with the service, but expected far more after reading the menu and noting the prices.

I have no problem paying for good food, but I want the quality I'm paying for.

Management has very poor attitude.  Not concerned with customer relations.  There are many decent restaurants in the area willing to please.... not Bistro Zinc.  Spend your money where it is appreciated.

Bistro Zinc tries to bring an authentic French bistro feel to Lenox, but the food preparation seems like the chef is overreaching.

For appetizers we had the Charcuterie consisting of a nice selection of pate, cheeses and sausage. ($14) We also had a side of warm olives with rosemary that were flavorful but slightly too salty ($5 for a very generous portion). Both were enjoyable.

For main courses we had the Louisiana Gumbo which was a bit too gummy and all the flavor was overpowered by the andouille sausage. ($26) We also ordered the Cassoulet ($24). This is a slow cooked stew with meat and white beans. Again, instead of a number of flavors coming through the beans were far too prominent and it tasted bland. It was also more soupy than I like, but that is purely personal preference.

For dessert we tried the Profiteroles. The portion was enormous, easily shared by 3 people and at $9, inexpensive. The problem is that the dessert does not fit the restaurant. The portion was huge but the execution was fair at best (closer to Friendly's than a French bistro) . It was frozen rock hard and the pastry had little taste. Fresh soft cream puffs stuffed with a softer ice cream would be more in line with a higher end restaurant. The butterscotch Budino (pudding) was far better. Rich and creamy with nice texture and full of flavor. ($8)

Service was OK and the atmosphere is calming and nicely done. They have a good wine list.

There are a number of better restaurants within steps of Zinc. With a few tweaks and better care to preparation, it shouldn't be too difficult for it to go up a notch or two.

We had a great lunch here after our Memorial Day Half marathon.   The bartender was great and very friendly.  The atmosphere was clean well decorated and nice big bar.  We had the gazpacho which was fresh and spicy.  We then had the mussels and we wanted to have shots of the sauce it was so delicious.   We then had the Croque Madame - ham and cheese with a fried egg (nicely cooked)- savory and huge.  We split it and it would have been too much for one person.  We also split the hazelnut crepes - it was too much so we only had one but the sea salt Carmel and hazelnuts was a very good pairing.   I know the reviews here are a bit iffy and all over the place but we would go back if we are ever in the Lenox area.

My family of 4 went to Zinc for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon. After feeling reassured by the decor, we thought we might be in for a treat since we wanted to order almost everything on the menu. Each of us loved what was put in front of us from the onion soup to the quiche to the duck confit sandwich (the best ever). And they seem to be famous for their french fries which disappeared as well. Great service and very reasonable prices. We'll be back for dinner.

Eh, it was perfectly fine I guess. The hostess was a little bit curt. The space is kind of nice, especially the bar, which is separated by walls and glass from the dining room, but still feels open because of the ample glass. The tables were a bit close together and the floor was tiled, which makes for a colder atmosphere and a bit of noise (especially since the tables need to be pulled out to let people in to the interior because they are too close).

The bathroom was small and out dated. The food was good. Not great, but good. Some hits and some 'that would have been better if..." moments. The crispy goat cheese salad and the confit duck rolls were both pretty good. The handmade fettucini (we both go this) was alright. Andy liked it better than I did. The sauce was a bit sweet for my liking. Andy got the special dessert and I got hazelnut crepes with salted caramel. The crepes were super savory.

Our neighboring table was nice and pleasant and both ordered drinks they'd had there before and were told they'd never had that to drink. Um, okay.

Visited for dinner while staying in town. Cold, blowy, snowy night. Had the place to ourselves. We ordered pork tenderloin and chicken thighs. Both were cooked to perfection. The decor is very beautiful. Tin ceilings, beautiful table settings, lots of mirrors and windows. The dessert was the highlight of the meal (often is for me) -- we had profiteroles that compared to ones I had in Italy. Fresh, delicious and covered in an incredible, homemade chocolate sauce. Yum, yum.

Good find thx to Yelp app.  Pulled pork sandwich juicy and messy  wife had duck ragu and we shared a crepe   all was good  crepe was lacking in sauce and almonds and frites.  Not sure why flies were around but it was okay. Waitress seemed like a foreigner, did not speak much english and the service was cool. Like a place that is welcoming.

A great decor ! Clean lines, a modern touch with comfy atmosphere. The
only draw back, for me, is the seating opposite the bar area( which is actually part of the restaurant itself). There is a line of duce tables that are so close together that you could spear food from your neighbor's plate if you weren't paying close attention. The service was very good overall, a bit slow between courses, but they were short one staffer this night. The food, I thought was fine. A nice touch for a fall evening in the Berkshires. Good menu items with variation and a good wine list.

Went with my wife for our 5th year anniversary dinner ( we spent the weekend in the Berkshires)

Service was good - attentive, pleasant.

    Food was... well...

Started with the foie gras and goat cheese salad - foie gras was quite interesting, though the cranberry sauce was overpowering. I understand the attempt to cut the richness of the foie gras with the sauce, but really all you could taste was cranberries. My wife liked the pepper muffin or whatever it was that came with it but I had to pass. Crispy Goat Cheese salad was your basic spinach salad with slices of apple and a chunk of deep fried goat cheese. Nothing to write home about.

For her entree, my wife ordered the coq au vin, which had a great sauce, though the breast was quite dry. There were also these mystery cubes of meat throughout the dish. seriously. 1.5" x 1.5" x1.5" cubes of dry, tough, tasteless, unrecognizable meat. We didnt understand what they were doing there or what they were for.... they were pretty disgusting.

I ordered the special - Braised Veal Shank. This came in a bowl and didn't look super appetizing - I'll have to post a picture later. The sauce was again not bad, but the fingerling potatoes were not cooked all the way through. The veal shank didn't have an actual shank which I thought was rather odd. Also? Another appearance of the mystery meat cubes. Again, WTH?

    pass, pass, pass.

Convenient only because it stays serves food til 10pm while most ham and eggers in bustling Lenox, only serve til 9pm.  -yawn-  It tries to be more than it is.  The bar looks nice, but is small.  Its generally a nice looking place, but the tables are spaced too closely.  The food is fair.  Everything is overpriced for what you get.  I recently had the burger and the bun flaked apart because it was stale.  The burger was far too salty, indicating that it had been previously frozen.  Not my idea of a $18 dollar burger.  Fries were small and cold.  I did go at 9:40pm, but that's no excuse.  Good selection of alcohol with plenty of beers on draught.  Service is fine.  Not a horrible place, but just not that good.  The cheese board leave a little to be desired.  Not recommended for food, but drink selection is good if you want to grab a quick nip.

Bright and cheery space, with decent bistro cred.  Being summer, the young waiter wasn't all that knowledgeable, especially about offerings from the bar (probably because he technically isn't oder enough to know about them).

The pulled pork sandwich was very tasty, if extremely messy. The pulled pork was excellent - very smoky.  The fries left a lot to be desired, although the little ketchup jars are adorable.

Salmon BLT, was supposedly open-faced, which was weird and hard to eat (I think they forget to bring the top slice of bread and then afterwards claimed it was open-faced).  The bread - the one slice - was good, multigrain.  Overall, a tasty sandwich.

Being there after the Tanglewood crowd left made it an over-all enjoyable experience.

I have no complaints with the food at Bistro Zinc.  The food was good.  If you're in the area and looking for a nice place for dinner, this should definitely be on your list.  Pleasant environment, good service. The steak frite was enjoyable, the watermelon salad was nice.  The one standout was the crabcake appetizer which was REALLY delicious.

But I was a little disappointed in the close table seating.  I've come to expect stacked tables for two in New York City, but I cant see any excuse for being seated so close to the person at the next table when Im out in  the country.  The tables were so close you couldnt walk between them.  And the restaurant was mostly empty when we got there so why seat adults right next to a mom with two young kids reading stories to the kids between courses?

But overall, if you're in the area and wondering where to go for dinner, Zinc is a very nice choice.

Decent food but incredibly poor service. Both waiter and floor manager were so rude and inflexible that they ruined our evening even though we spent over $150 before tip. Only potatoes can be substituted for potatoes we were told. We were abused verbally when we dared to complain about the service. stay away from this place. There are plenty of restaurants in the area with good food and great service. We would not go here even if the food were free.

Went here for Mothers Day. Visited the restaurant often in the past when visiting the Berkshires and always a great experience.  Had dinner in the bar at 8:00-not a soul was around (other than the owner sitting at the bar). The waitress although sweet looked and acted like she was still in High School. The Appetizer (Mussels) and Salad were good. The entrees is where it all went wrong. My Mothers and Sisters salmon was mush. My ribs tasted like something that had simmered 24 hours in a crock pot at my great grandmothers house-the meat was so overcooked and mushy-I wasn't even sure what I was eating. The icing on the cake is when I went to the restroom after dinner and the toilet paper rolls were all empty and the empty roll was on the floor. Very classy for our $260.00 bill. No thank you from the owner at the bar when leaving....no asking of how the food was....just a bad dining experience.

A typical Lenox experience with sub-par service and so-so food.  The evening started off quite poorly, with some confusion about our reservation.  We had called in for six people, unfortunately they had us listed for four.  I can completely understand an honest mistake, and even understand that on a busy evening, it's a hard mistake to miraculously fix.  However, not only was there no attempt to fix the situation, we were treated as though we were lying about the reservation in the first place.  And even then I can still be understanding - becuase I know that it is a reality that people do lie sometimes as a way to get things that they want, and restaurants have to mitigate these circumstances.  but to go to the extreme of telling us point blank that we were the ones in the wrong, and that we would simply have to wait this one out (without a comp drink, an appetizer, an apology, anything), is simply very poor service.  And for the record, we were NOT lying!

We did decide to wait, given the fact that evey place in the area was going to have a wait for a sixtop at  8pm during James Taylor weekend.  Once seated we did receive an apology about the wait from our server, who was sweet though clearly frazzled by the busy evening.  In fact, he delivered each and every thing I ordered to a different person at our table.  Luckily we're family, so a little Musical Entrees wasn't too awkward.

As far as the appetizers went, I enjoyed my watermelon and tomato salad, and my sister's duck wrapped in something or other.  However, there was just a single winner when it came to our main courses and unfortunately it was not mine.  Five of us were left lamenting that we had waited so long for a table, only to eat bland and overcooked food.  My entree was downright criminal - I ordered their special, which turned out to be a truly incinerated halibut filet.  Had it been a more pleasant evening otherwise, I would have sent this back - but I just couldn't make everyone else wait for me to get a new meal.  I really should have though, as I ate only two bites of this disgusting fish, which ended up being the most expensive thing we ordered.

Amazingly, we ate dessert, which we normally we would not do in a circumstance where so many of us were annoyed and/or unsatisfied.  but the reality was simply that we were still hungry, since we barely touched our dinners!  Thank goodness the desserts were just fine (hardly outstanding, but simple and enjoyable enough), so the whole experience didn't end on a completely off-note.

You know, if I lived in Lenox and only ever ate in this area, I would rate this higher, because the whole food scene in that area is over-priced and pathetic.  I think another reviewer for Zinc wrote that you should just expect to pay more and get less in this area, and it's so true.  Even better though, just head to one of the gourmet food shops, pack up a picnic, and consider the Berkshires a DIY kind of place and you'll be much better off.

a complete side note - an incredibly hot chef works for this place, I caught a glimpse and a smile on my way out.  Perhaps my phermones were interfering with his ability to cook - you never know.

Had a decent dining experience there this past weekend.  Service was good, however, when  I asked if my pasta with clams and mussels which was served with a creamy  parmegan sauce was heavily sauced or not, I was told it was very lightly sauced.  Definitely not the case - it was swiming in it.  Also the whole table commented on the teeny size of the mussels and clams, which were so small they were really not worth the trouble of getting out of their shells.   My husband ordered a burger, which was pricey, but seemed to be well enjoyed.
Nice atmosphere and being right in the heart of Tanglewood it was crowded with reservations a must.  Because of my experience, I'm not rushing back, however.

So after spending some time out here in the Berkshires I've come to realize that everything will be just as if not more expensive than Boston, and it won't be as good.  If you're from the city, or any city for that matter, make your restaurant choices based on knowing that and it'll help you.

So my thoughts about Bistro Zinc:

    The Pros:
-I like the atmosphere.  It's clean, nice, relaxing, and has character.  Also not too noisy and not too cold.
-The choices - their menu is pretty well rounded if you're going for new-american cuisine.
-Most of the food is good; specifically the crispy goat cheese salad, and the duck confit rolls (which are rolled in something soft, not crispy).

    The Cons:
-They play classic rock, and while that's lovely, it's not a good fit with the rest of the atmosphere or the menu.
-The prices - the food is good, but not that good.  I had the Burger ($18) which is the same cost as the best burger I've had in my life at The Butcher Shop in Boston.  It didn't come close.
-When I asked the waitress which of their reds by the glass were lowest in tannens she looked at me like I was speaking russian.
-Whoever made one of our two salads forgot to add the nuts.  Salad fail.

All in all it's one of the better restaurants I've been to in the Berkshires, I liked it much more than Firefly, but not as much as Cafe Lucia.

Call me reckless but I'm going 5 Stars because I could not imagine a better dining experience in the area, or in most places, in fact.

There were five of us.  We all had apps and a main course and the ten dishes were all superb.  Ditto the wines.  And ditto ditto the service.

If you are eating in the Berkshires, don't pass up this refuge.

Lovely bar too, without a TV!!

Strolled in for an early lunch (11:30ish, we had to make a shakespeare play) and the place was empty. Love the decor. It definitely got my into that cultured "I'm about to watch shakespeare and I'm a little nervous because I'm really slow when it comes to understanding shakespeak."

I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich while my wife got one of their crepes. Both were very tasty. I got a glass of their house white. It was tasty (especially at 11:30 when drinking wine has a bit of a naughty feel to it).

Overall, it was a splendid lunch. A little on the pricey side, but the atmosphere was more than worth it.

It's name that actually contradicts itself--Zinc, being a element that actually diminishes taste, is a restaurant that does anything but that!

This restaurant has amazing dishes with a plethora of flavors that tantalize your taste buds.

I've been here a few times, for lunch and dinner and my last meal over the weekend was amazing.

The duck confit spring rolls are the most succulent appetizer, and are really just a preview of the meal ahead. The steak frites was one of the best cooked steaks. When I said I wanted medium-rare, that's exactly what a good. It was a great cut of rib eye seared in garlic butter to perfection. The haricot verts cooked in garlic butter were melt in your mouth. I substituted the fries for greens and again, delicious tender field greens in a lemon vinagrette, mmmmm.

You just can't go wrong with anything on this menu. I've previously had the Coq au Vin and the Croque Madame. It's french food at it's best.

And for dessert...we had the Apple Tarte. MMMMMM! AMAZING! All of the desserts looked delicious.

Aside from the great food, the service is impeccable. The waitstaff is very attentive. The bar area is great too. Kaylyn is a great bartender who serves up a great drink : ) I was especially impressed to see that they had Firefly vodka, which is a summer time staple! It's sweet tea flavored vodka-mix with water and you have the most refreshing summer libation!

    J'adore Bistro Zinc!

**Deal Seeking Diva tip** Become a regular and you very well could see some comped menu items from the very generous and hospitable managers and owners.

I just walked in the door and had to sit down and write a review about this place!

I have been to Bistro Zinc several times for lunch or an after work drink, but tonight was the first night I have gone for dinner.

Bistro Zinc instantly gets 3 stars from me for just carrying Berkshire Mountain Distillers Ice Glen Vodka (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.berkshiremountaindistillers.com&s=b5789eee730820eea904ad8acdeec8281467b1aee9a378c2236b41f03d9ad958" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.berkshiremoun…</a>). The dinner started out with a complimentary starter item which was great (+1 star)! I forget what it was called, but it was shrimp with a blue cheese sauce on a small piece of toast. Excellent.

For my appetizer I went with the mussels and fries. The mussels tasted so fresh and were in a wonderful cream sauce. There must have been about 1lb of mussels ... I ate every single one (ok, I shared two). The fries were perfectly salted with good flavor as well.

My dinner was a Ribeye with herb butter cooked medium rare. The steak was cook to perfection and melted in my mouth (+1 star). One of the best steaks I have had in a long time. It came with a side of green beans in a garlic butter sauce which were to die for. There was also a side of fries, which I could have done without, but ate anyway. (=

The service was very good as well, but the quality of the food trumped everything. This is now one of my top 5 restaurants in the Berkshires.

I had a nice experience here. The Scottish salmon was nicely seasoned, and the rattatouille sauce was a nice addition. The Zinc Burger is also hefty and tasty. My boyfriend really liked the duck confit rolls (appetizer).

My waitress was a little awkward - she kept saying "sorry" about random things - but I liked the ambiance. A little over-priced. I know this place is known for the bar.

Okay.  I live in the metropolitan city of Chicago.  I am a self proclaimed burger connoisseur.  Like the French, I dip my fries in mayo, instead of ketchup.  Each of these facts would lead one to believe that I have eaten a lot of great french fries.  Nope.  Bistro Zinc has the best "chips" this side of the Atlantic...and the onion soup is pretty damn good too.

I've gone here a number of times, and each time Zinc kind of breaks my heart.  The food never seems to be quite up to what the "style" of the place -- the bay windows, the white linens, the long bar, etc. -- and the prices would lead you to expect.   Zinc is a good restaurant, but it seems to me that it could be great with a little more attention to detail.  I sometimes get the sense that the place is a little too satisfied with itself.  But then I come back, like a moth to the bug zapper, hoping each time for a real flame.  Or something like that.

I've dined here a number of times and the food is consistently high quality with lovely presentation.  the menu changes regularly and i've never had the same meal twice.  the last time i was there i had an amazing seared tuna spring roll with cilantro coulis. they make excellent soups, yummy salads and decadent desserts. if you're in the berkshires, definitely take lunch at Zinc!

I had a great lunch here.  As my fellow reviewer notes, it's got a nice cosmopolitan-but-comfortable vibe and very tasty food.  At our table we had a couple different salads, soups, a surprisingly tasty chicken stew and the best hamburger I've eaten in a couple years.

Directly across the street from the limp Firefly is Bistro Zinc, where I had an extremely pleasant lunching experience. Even during the daytime, I could detect Zinc's evening vibe: cosmopolitan with a rustic twist.

I sat at the bar, one of my favorite ways to dine, and enjoyed french onion soup, tuna nicoise salad, and steak with pommes frites (so French). The french onion soup was out-of this-world, the salad was on the average side, and the steak was rock solid.

All of this was enhanced by a 1/2 bottle of Perrier Jouet champagne.

It's unfortunate that I didn't have the opportunity to dine here more extensively.

Bistro Zinc is located in historical Lenox Village and serves up French/Gallic cuisine in a charming and casually elegant setting. The bar area features a long zinc bar and serveral high tables. The small dining room has gleaming tile floors, yellow walls and large windows overlooking Church Street.

The kitchen does an excellent job preparing classic French Bistro fare such as Steak Frites and bouillabaisse as well as some other items with a twist on the theme. Dessert offerings include creme brulee and tarte tartin.

I definitely plan on stopping back at Bistro Zinc on my next trip to The Berkshires.
