We went here after eating at Wings n' More across the way...and I was definitely not impressed.
Strange characters lurk here, which brings strange conversation, and *awkward* moments.
Also, the bartender girl continuously hit on my husband and procrastinated FOREVER to give him his drink & change for the pool table so she could keep talking to him. Which included giggling, twirling her hair, asking for his information, and me watching from a distance ready to pounce at any moment.
Ugh, just don't do it guys. You'll thank me later.
Meh. I don't like smelling cleaning products mixed with the 'bar smell'. This is just a regular neighborhood bar. I was expecting something more, cool. The name makes me think of the Led Zeppelin song and it made me envision a dark, candle lit bar, with wooden accents, and cool underrated Led Zeppelin posters/pictures all around. I didn't find anything WRONG about this place, I just don't see it as a place I'd frequent. Plus the regulars are too fond of country music. I very much dislike country music, and was itching to play Ke$ha on the jukebox just to see how everyone would react. The drinks are not pricey and I did like that they had Zapps for sale.
Review Source:I agree with Denise down there. Â Damn, it was barely 6pm, and these people were already crunk! Â Too loud for my comfort. Â They have a jukebox, but good luck trying to sneak in a tune between the R.Kelly, and Biggie Smalls. Â
Ambience: Â Hipster (no) Â Romantic (hell no) Â Dive-y (YES) Â Classy (no) Â Trendy (no) Â Upscale (far from) Â Touristy (no) Â Casual (yes) Â Intimate (no)
When I relocated to Austin from San Diego last year I found myself renting in Pflugerville while house shopping. Â Being the Grill Dog that I am I was looking for a little hole in the wall pub to hang out in. Â Needless to say, the name caught my attention.
It really is a friendly neighborhood bar. Â The folks behind the bar do a great job to keep everyone satisfied with their favorite liquid libation. Â True, they don't serve food there but there's a couple of restaurants within staggering distance that will deliver food to you. Â
There are a few locals who have their favorite bar seats and tend to be their own center of attention. But I guess that's normal fair in a neighborhood pub. Â Plus, if you are new to the area or are just looking for things to do in Austin, these guys have been around and have always given me grade A+ advice.
They have great events and parties during holidays and sporting events. Â Plus their prices are very reasonable. Â Stop in and tell them Grill Dog sent ya!
Very strong drinks and cheap! Free bar with little to no dresscode..great music choice with the jukebox...kinda bordering into a hood spot... By no means a ghetto spot as I've frequented several, but on the wrong night this might be..get wasted here then cab it to your final destination
Review Source:The bar was nice enough. Bartender was friendly. But the later it got the crowd just wasnt what i care to be around. Hip hop, thuggy, shade wearing at night Pal Wall  wanna be look -alike's would be the best way i can describe the crowd. PASS
Not bad if that is your scene. Strip mall bar. Two pool tables. Plenty of tv's.
I popped into try out Black Dog Pub after work the other day with a friend. This is a very neighborhoodsy type of bar kinda hidden away off of Howard Lane. They have a couple of pool tables available and a decent juke box churning out the sounds. They also have 4 HD flatscreens for sports viewing. I did find it a little odd that they are all along the same wall together instead of spread out a little bit more like in the corners.
I was happy to see they had Land Shark beer so we sat at a table and knocked out several of these. Not a bad little bar. And being next to the Home Depot, it'll give me an easy excuse to drop in for a cool one after purchasing my hardware stuff.
