We went here before a Walleye game and it was busy! But you know what? The service was amazing. We were seated, got our food, which wasn't anything to write home about, but hot and fresh, and were out in time for the game. I will definitely come back before a game... They get it. Oh even better, they have the beloved Christmas Ale on tap!
Review Source:Awesome place...was our 2nd choice of the night, but couldn't have turned out better. We were celebrating moms 85th birthday and she loves her beer, so we ordered the "tower" of beer, which was taller than her. Sat on the patio, beautiful, less noisy. All of our food selections were excellent and the waitress was attentive and friendly. Would have to recommend the hummus as an appetizer...very fresh and tasty. So happy our first choice was closed....we'll definitely be back!
Review Source:I eat here a lot at lunch time.  Short walk from my office and great food at a reasonable  price.
They have a different lunch special everyday and a lot of times I get that. Â If not I usually order off their lunch menu (full menu is also available). Â
Good sized portions.  Many times if I get a sandwich I will eat half of  it and the chips and take the other half back and put in the office fridge to take home for dinner or buy a bag of chips the next day and eat the other half for lunch the next day.
Lunch prices are reasonable and I love the  homemade chips.  Would really recomend the chicken salad sandwich or the soup and half salad combo (blarney salad is my fav).
I really like the atmosphere as well. Â The staff is always friendly and attentive, place is always clean and interior is modern and up to date.
Also a great place to go to drink, which I have several times. Â Great vodka and beer selection, good service and it is smoke free which as someone that has severe smoke allergies I really appreciate.
Nice little Irish Pub in downtown Toledo. Had the Mozzarella sticks and an Irish Setter Red Ale (Thirsty Dog Brewing Co., Akron, OH). Good beer, mozzarella sticks were nice and crispy on the outside and hot, gooey and tasty on the inside!
The waitresses that waited on us were very nice.
Worth checking out if you are in the area!
Never eaten here, just had drinks so this is what I base the review on. They have a large selection of international & regional beers at a decent price. Service has always been a strong point here. At some other bars you might see the wait staff once or twice during the night, but our server was very attentive even when it got crowded. If there's a band, they are usually good, but the place can get a bit loud. Parking is cheap, like $3 and sometimes if you get there early enough you can get a free spot on the street.
Review Source:After many years of attending Mud Hens games and otherwise being downtown, we decided to give The Blarney a try this past Sunday afternoon - well before the game crowd shuffled in.
Service was terrible - the place was very obviously under staffed.
The food is definitely NOT what you would come here for. The beer selection was good. Fish and chips for me. Fish was coated in a heavy, thick batter and drowning in grease. Fries weren't bad. Burger for my buddy - no onion, mediocre ground beef, one tiny little piece of wilted lettuce and the bottom end of a barely pink tomato slice. Hello, Blarney owners?? The Farmer's Market is right around the corner - I'm sure you could find better lettuce and tomatoes to put on your burgers. My other friend had the bangers and mash. Now I realize that traditional Irish food is not known for being full flavored or necessarily well presented but this was ridiculous. No attempt was made to even make the dish look appealing - and it wasn't. The garlic mashed potatoes were neither real or contained any garlic.
Our appetizer - "Spicy, garlic" chicken wings were delivered after our meal was and they were fair at best.
Again, I guess this might be a good place for drinks, conversation, live music and some old fashioned irish hell raising but take my word for it - eat somewhere else before or after coming here.
I will start this off by saying, I am not from Toledo and I came here for work. So, it is my first night here, and I am hungry. It is still oddly bright outside as the clock nears 9pm, so I walk over to The Blarney after looking at the menu at Table Forty 4 and deciding it wasn't really what I wanted.
Fish and chips sounded good, so I decided to eat here. I walked around the bar for a minute before the bartender told me to sit down wherever I would like. So I parked myself in view of the TVs playing various sports games. Not that I like sports, but I was alone, and I needed something to focus on.
The waitress (sorry I don't remember her name) was very attentive. She got my order, and always kept my Diet Coke full. I had ordered a salad and the 2 piece fish and chips. The salad was pretty standard, iceberg lettuce, cheese, croutons, tomatoes and cucumbers. In hindsight, I should have skipped it, but I felt like I needed some veggies. Unless you just need some basic veggie action, skip the side salad. Next up was the Fish and Chips. They were good. Nothing shockingly amazing, but the fish wasn't fishy and the breading was pretty light. Fries, coleslaw, and tarter sauce, all pretty standard.
The atmosphere of the place was pretty chill and full of appropriate decor for the theme. I can see how this place would attract crowds on the weekend. In the end my bill came to $13 which is what I would have paid for a half way decent sandwich back home, so I cannot complain one bit. If you want decent food, friendly service and a final bill that won't break the bank, then this place should be on your list.
The Blarney is one of the better bars in Downtown Toledo. Â It is probably the most upscale bar in the Warehouse District. Â They have live bands every weekend and you can usually expect a pretty decent, younger crowd on the weekends. Â
I have only had the burgers here, which are fairly nice and served on a ciabatta bun instead of your normal hamburger bun. Â They are nothing I would go out of my way to get but not bad. Â
The drink prices are a little more expensive then some of the other downtown bars and they do have a pretty small cover on the weekends, Â I think it was like $2, which is pretty small. Â
It defiantly has a nice Irish Pub feel to the decor and a nice size bar if you enjoy bellying up there.
The Blarney is the pretty girl at the party that everyone wants to talk to and she knows it. Great space (I'm a sucker for any renovation of the warehouses downtown). Probably as authentic "Irish" Pub we're going to get in Toledo, part of that means it's not in a shopping center. The patio with fire pits is a great touch especially for late nights in spring. Service is pretty solid. Drink selection is pretty typical for an Irish Pub, you've got Bushmills and Jamieson flowing along with Smithwicks and Guniess on tap (both personal favorites of mine). The reason for the pretty girl analogy is that the Blarney is one of the top spots in downtown. This means if you're looking for a crowd that averages below the age of 40 (I'm looking at you Frickers) you're going to end up here. Thus, the Blarney is not a cheap place for a pint or two. Even a typical domestic is around $3 (charging someone $2.80 for a beer is just insulting either take the 20 cents or just drop it too $2.50 or $2 please). Blarney gets away with this because of course on just a typical night downtown (no Mud Hens or Walleye game) the only large crowd you're going to find is probably here. Adding to their pretty girl quarks is the cover they sometimes charge on the weekends (generally when there is a live band). Every time I've been prompted to pay its been in the $2 range, again a very fair amount I don't mind paying, but hey $2 come on what are we doing here? Overall like I said good space, good service somewhat pricey drinks. But they know people will pay it and I'm sure I will my next trip out with friends.
Review Source:Nice bar in downtown Toledo. Â Right by the Walleye and Mudhen stadiums, and can usually find street parking around if it's in the evening. Â Has a cover charge on weekends, but is fairly reasonable, and still gets quite packed. Â Has a patio with a couple fireplaces, and gas heater. Â Prices are a bit higher than some bars, but worth it for the nicer atmosphere.
