Can't say enough great stuff about this place. One thing I'd like to mention that I don't believe has been covered by other reviewers -- they are amazing when it comes to accommodating dietary needs, or even just personal preferences. It's never a problem to request something like, "The chicken entree sounds great, but I don't eat meat -- could you replace it with fish?"
Service is as good as it gets, menu is as good as it gets, and I've never experienced buyer's remorse after eating at The Blue Bottle because the food is 100% worth the price.
Building is nondescript but three dining rooms are nicely decorated and inviting. Â A white tablecloth place. Plus they swap out the silverware between courses as needed. Our server at lunch was young but professional, attentive, fast. Â One other server seemed to be working hard as well. Â Hostess seemed to be taking it easy.
Food was very good. Â We split a cheese plate to start which was nicely done. Â My wife had the sirloin which was very nice and a big portion. Â They served the steak cut in two which tells you instantly that it is cooked as your requested; somebody may complain about this but I think it is acceptable since this is not a steakhouse. Â I went with the diver scallops which were as nice as I have had in years. Espresso and cappuccino. We split the lemon tiramisu for dessert which was just OK. Â This place is described on Yelp as New American - French but I saw nothing French on the menu.
Nice place but very loud with the two dining rooms half full. Â They could have spread the tables more. Â For instance I would have seated the seven top in the third dining room which was empty.
Great food at reasonable prices. Â BYOB. Â We will go back. Â Too bad that they don't do brunch on weekends.
I am not an easy grader so four stars which are well earned.
